About No 7 Grill Express Restaurant

Welcome to No 7 Grill Express Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant located at 1073 W 48th St C, Norfolk, VA 23508, USA. Situated in the Chinese Restaurant category, No 7 Grill Express offers a casual dining experience with a focus on "Americanized" Chinese cuisine and outstanding customer service.

For inquiries or to place an order, you can contact No 7 Grill Express Restaurant at (757) 423-3003 or via mobile phone at +1 757-423-3003. This introduction is compiled from publicly available customer reviews to provide an objective overview.

Customer feedback highlights the "very kind service" and "delicious food" experienced at No 7 Grill Express. One reviewer particularly enjoyed the chicken plate and vegetable spring rolls, praising the chicken bowl as "bite-for-bite delicious." They also noted the ample seating available in a side room and the convenient parking. The overall setup is described as simple but lovely, prompting a desire to return.

However, another review suggests that those seeking authentic Chinese food or a fancy setting might want to look elsewhere. This reviewer, who identifies as a Chinese-born American, found the Chicken and Shrimp plate to contain a significant amount of sodium, MSG, and sugar, deeming it "unacceptable" despite typically having an easy-going palate. They did, however, emphatically praise the manager for providing "hands-down BEST service," noting his attentiveness and genuine care for customers, which is unusual for a takeout-focused establishment. The restaurant also features a large seating area for a takeout spot, accommodating around 20 people, and notably does not ask for tips.

Overall, No 7 Grill Express Restaurant appears to be a no-frills establishment near Old Dominion University (ODU) that excels in customer service, particularly due to its friendly and attentive manager. It caters to those who enjoy "Americanized" Chinese food and appreciate a simple, welcoming environment with ample seating and the added benefit of no tipping. If you prioritize excellent service and enjoy this style of Chinese cuisine, No 7 Grill Express might be worth a visit.

Very kind service and delicious food. I got the chicken plate and a side of vegetable spring rolls. The chicken bowl was bite-for-bite delicious, highly recommend. The vegetable spring rolls had nice taste but I probably should have avoided the fried food (personal issue). There is ample seating in the side room, to the right of the ordering counter, and lots of parking out front. Simple setup but lovely, would come back.

Bottom line: avoid if seeking authentic Chinese food, or looking for fancy setting. However, hands-down BEST service from the manager! This is a no frills restaurant blocks from ODU. Ordered the Chicken and Shrimp plate. My friend that ordered the cheaper beef dish got more food (square takeout container vice my smaller circular container). Not sure how that works out, but the main issue is the insane AMOUNT of sodium/MSG/sugar that went into the dish. I literally felt my blood pressure rising halfway through the meal. I am assuming this restaurant is tailoring their menu to their typical clientele, but as an Chinese-born American from NYC and having ate many home-cooked authentic meals as well as diverse range in quality restaurant food, this meal was unacceptable to my typically very easy-going palate. It saddens me to write a poor review on the food, (this being my first), as the manager was extremely kind, attentive, and genuinely a great guy! He came by multiple times to check on us and other customers (not the norm for take out-focused restaurants). Also, the restaurant features large (for a take out spot) seating area (easily accomodating 20 people). Best of all, no tipping asked. This is the first place where the point-of-sale system doesn't ask for a tip. Kudos! To me, tip shouldn't be needed if no dedicated waiter service. If you like "Americanized" Chinese food, give this place a chance; the manager is super friendly.

This place was horrible. every piece of food was absolute trash. Lo mein was watery and shrimp had no flavor. Shrimps were also cut in half to make it seem like you get more. Chicken tastes like frozen chicken from the store with a little sauce on it. Picked it up right when it was done and 3 minutes after picking it up and going to eat it, food was basically ice cold. You can't pay me to eat here again. And with the quality of food im shocked this is one of the highest rated in the area. I plan on taking at least 2 probiotics after eating this. Wish me luck

I checked out the reviews before coming here and I think went sure what I was expecting but it wasn’t a single old man working a basically empty chicken. Chose to come here for the prices and as seen, they’re much higher than I thought they were gonna be. Granted I only got the eggrolls so I’m not sure who it everything else but upset that staples such as General Tso’s chicken wasn’t offered

Asked for chicken fried rice and got some flavorless rice and undercooked flavorless chicken on top. Was a regular customer for Mr. Wong. The new management is bad. Stay away.
