About No.1 New China

Welcome to No.1 New China, a Chinese restaurant located at 364 Bernard St W, West St Paul, MN 55118, USA. For residents in West St Paul and the surrounding areas, No.1 New China offers a convenient option for those seeking familiar Americanized Chinese cuisine. You can place orders or make inquiries by calling them at (651) 457-3002 or their mobile number +1 651-457-3002.

Based on recent customer reviews, the dining experience at No.1 New China appears to be somewhat varied, with contrasting opinions on the quality and flavor of the food. One particularly critical reviewer strongly advised others to "save your money" and seek food with more flavor and healthier preparation. They described their orders of lemon chicken and sweet and sour chicken as both featuring the same heavily breaded chicken, accompanied by very watery and almost tasteless sauces that they had to pour over the chicken themselves. This customer found the dishes "disgusting," with the sweet and sour sauce being only "less bad." They resorted to making their own sauce the following night to make the leftover chicken edible, stating that this was "honestly the very worst dinner we've ever had from a restaurant." Despite its convenience, this negative experience led them to vow never to return.

In contrast, another customer had a more positive experience, particularly highlighting the kindness and patience of the staff while they perused the menu for the first time. They noted that the menu was typical of a "very standard Americanized Chinese place." This reviewer ordered the wonton soup and the sesame chicken combo plate. They found the wonton soup to be "really good," mentioning the generous portion of three large wontons in the small size. The egg roll was also praised as "good" and noticeably "very freshly fried." They particularly enjoyed the pork fried rice and found the sesame chicken to be "good enough to make me want to come back," even though it wasn't the most complex in flavor. This customer also noted the speed of service, with their in-store order taking under 10 minutes to be prepared.

From these two reviews, it is evident that experiences at No.1 New China can differ significantly. One customer found the food to be exceptionally poor in flavor and quality, particularly the sauces and the preparation of the chicken dishes. They also seemed to prefer a less heavily breaded and more flavorful approach to Chinese cooking. On the other hand, another customer appreciated the standard Americanized fare, enjoyed specific items like the wonton soup, egg roll, and pork fried rice, and found the sesame chicken satisfactory enough to warrant a return visit. They also commended the friendly and efficient service.

The differing opinions might suggest that No.1 New China caters to a specific preference for Americanized Chinese food and that the quality of individual dishes can vary. The positive feedback on the staff's kindness and the speed of service are consistent strengths mentioned by at least one reviewer, which can contribute positively to the overall customer experience, even if the food itself is not universally praised.

The reviews do not provide any specific details about the environment or ambiance of No.1 New China. Therefore, local users cannot form an opinion on the dine-in atmosphere based on this information. Similarly, there is no mention of any specific services offered beyond in-store ordering and presumably takeout, nor are there any details about the restaurant's decor or overall setting. There is also no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in knowing if No.1 New China offers delivery services or any special deals would need to contact the restaurant directly.

In conclusion, No.1 New China in West St Paul, MN, offers standard Americanized Chinese cuisine with reportedly kind and patient staff and quick service for in-store orders. However, customer opinions on the food quality and flavor are divided, with one reviewer finding the dishes exceptionally poor and tasteless, while another enjoyed specific items and found the overall experience satisfactory enough for a return visit. Local users considering No.1 New China should weigh these contrasting experiences and decide if their preferences align with the described style of Americanized Chinese food. The convenience of the location, as mentioned by the negative reviewer, might be a factor for some, but the quality of the food appears to be the primary point of contention.

Save your money and buy food that has flavor and is cooked in a more healthy way. We ordered lemon chicken and sweet and sour chicken, and both dishes arrived with the same heavily breaded chicken, with very watery, almost tasteless sauce to pour over it on our own. It was disgusting. The sweet and sour sauce was less bad. We forced ourselves to eat some, just to appease hunger. We threw away the worthless sauces and the next night, cooked up the chicken with a new sauce that we made, which made it edible. This is honestly the very worst dinner we've ever had from a restaurant. I wanted it to be good, since it's so convenient for us, but we'll never go back.

The staff were very kind and patient as I looked at their menu for the first time! It didn't take me too long though as this is a very standard Americanized Chinese place! I got the wonton soup and the sesame chicken combo plate. The wonton soup was really good and came with three large wontons in the small. The egg roll was good! I could tell it was very freshly fried! I really enjoyed the pork fried rice but think I'll try something other than the sesame chicken next time, it was good but not the most complex tasting, but it certainly was good enough to make me want to come back. I ordered in store and the food took under 10 minutes to come out!

We heard of this place from a mailer menu and we wanted to try some place local. I feel like the prices were good and the food quality was amazing. We ordered egg drop soup, cheese wontons, egg rolls, fried rice, beef and mushroom and shrimp Lo mein. Ordering over the phone was easy and pick up as well. The food was packed well and generously loaded with extra sauces. I particularly like the small cardboard piece they put in the bottom of the bag so that all of our food stayed stable and I never had to worry about anything falling out. We will definitely be here again!

Save your energy go to Chin chin. I have ordered from here for years not because the food is the best but delivery is quick. Today after 6 years never a complaint I was treated so poorly. What is this world coming to when common respect can't be given. I will be going elsewhere I hope you do to. We all work very hard for our money and good customer service goes a long way.
