About No 1 Chinese Restaurant
Welcome to No 1 Chinese Restaurant, your local Chinese Restaurant situated at 318 S Poplar St in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. As a long-standing member of the Chinese Restaurant category in the area, No 1 Chinese Restaurant has adapted its services to focus exclusively on takeout orders. According to recent customer feedback, the restaurant no longer offers a dining room experience. However, they have embraced modern convenience by providing online ordering options for their clientele.
One of the consistently praised aspects of No 1 Chinese Restaurant is the freshness and speed of their service. Customers have noted that the food is "always very good," and is served both "fresh and quick." This efficiency makes it a convenient option for local residents looking for a fast takeout meal. The availability of online ordering further enhances this convenience, allowing customers to place their orders remotely and pick them up at their leisure.
In terms of specific menu items, customer reviews offer a mixed perspective. The chicken wings have been positively highlighted as being "hot, crispy, and good." This suggests that their preparation of this popular appetizer is a strong point. Similarly, the egg rolls are also described as "hot and crispy," which are desirable qualities for this type of dish. However, one reviewer expressed significant disappointment with the filling of the egg roll, stating that it was "super bland" and contained "nothing but cabbage," lacking other traditional ingredients like pork, carrots, or celery.
The General Tso’s chicken, a staple in many American Chinese restaurants, received a more lukewarm review. One customer described it as "just okay at best," noting that it was "not super crispy" and the sauce was "really sour." This suggests that while the dish might be acceptable in a pinch, it does not particularly stand out in terms of flavor or texture. The reviewer concluded that No 1 Chinese Restaurant "will work" if one is in need of takeout, but they did not express a strong desire for a return visit in the near future, indicating an overall impression of being merely adequate.
Considering the shift to a takeout-only model, the environment of the restaurant is no longer a direct factor for customers, except perhaps for the brief interaction during pickup. The focus is now entirely on the efficiency of the ordering and preparation process, as well as the quality of the food for off-site consumption. The positive comments regarding the speed and freshness of the food suggest that No 1 Chinese Restaurant has adapted well to this new service model in terms of operational efficiency.
The primary service offered by No 1 Chinese Restaurant is now geared towards takeout. The introduction of online ordering is a significant service enhancement, providing an alternative to phone orders and potentially streamlining the process for both the restaurant and the customer. This allows for easy browsing of the menu and convenient order placement from anywhere.
In terms of features, the consistent reports of fresh and quick food preparation can be considered a key feature. The positive feedback on the chicken wings also highlights a potentially popular and well-executed item on their menu. However, the inconsistency in the quality and filling of the egg rolls, as well as the mediocre review of the General Tso’s chicken, indicate areas where improvement or greater consistency might be needed.
Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Customers interested in any potential specials, discounts, or loyalty programs offered by No 1 Chinese Restaurant would need to contact them directly at (910) 862-7889 or +1 910-862-7889, or check their online ordering platform if they have one. It is common for restaurants to offer deals or promotions to attract and retain customers, so it would be beneficial to inquire about any such offers.
In summary, No 1 Chinese Restaurant in Elizabethtown, NC, has transitioned to a takeout-only service model, offering online ordering for added convenience. Customers generally find the food to be fresh and prepared quickly. While the chicken wings seem to be a reliable choice, there are inconsistencies in other items, such as the bland egg rolls lacking a variety of fillings and a General Tso’s chicken that is described as just average. If you are looking for a quick and potentially satisfactory takeout option in Elizabethtown, No 1 Chinese Restaurant might fit the bill, especially if you are inclined to try their praised chicken wings. However, based on the mixed reviews of other dishes, it might be prudent to explore their menu further or consider your preferences for specific items before placing an order.
For local residents in Elizabethtown, No 1 Chinese Restaurant offers a convenient solution for takeout Chinese food. The ability to order online adds to this convenience. While some dishes receive positive feedback for their quality and taste, others appear to be less consistent. As with any restaurant, individual experiences can vary, and it might be worthwhile to try a few different items to form your own opinion. Contacting the restaurant directly for any information on their menu or current promotions could also be beneficial.
Ultimately, No 1 Chinese Restaurant presents itself as a takeout-focused establishment in Elizabethtown, prioritizing speed and freshness. While some menu items have garnered positive attention, others have received more critical reviews. Local users seeking a quick Chinese meal might find it a suitable option, but those with specific preferences for dishes like egg rolls or General Tso’s chicken may want to manage their expectations based on the recent feedback.

Customer Reviews
There is no longer a dining room, so only to go orders. They offer online orders as well. Food is always very good. Served fresh and quick.
Take out is the only option now. It had been since the buffet was still an option that I’d eaten at No. 1. I decided to try it out again. The chicken wings were hot, crispy, and good. The egg roll was hot and crispy, but super bland. It was nothing but cabbage. No pork, no carrots, no celery, just cabbage. The General Tso’s was just okay at best. Not super crispy and the sauce was really sour. If you’re in a pinch for take out, it’ll work. That said, I don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon. It’s just okay.
First time here. Place looks like they configured it for the start of Covid and never removed any of the protections. No in house dining. I got the #21 Spicy Garlic Shrimp with fried rice and egg roll. Shrimp was not very spicy. It was almost too sweet. The fried rice seemed to be out of a box rather than real fried rice. They were edible, but not great. Egg roll seemed to be just cabbage inside. Pretty bland for me. Not sure I would go again.
Just look at the pics. That's a FRIED bug in the lo mein. How disgusting would it be to find that in your box of take out? I know there aren't many options in the area...but come on. Really????? You should be ashamed of serving this to my son. Or anyone else for that matter. Bugs might be a delicacy overseas, but NOBODY here wants to eat a fried stink bug.
Food selection is lacking. Meat has spongy textures and odd flavors. Apps are greasy and cheap, no beef teriyaki or similar. Beef and chicken has a unusual texture that I juat can't get past. Very expensive for what you receive.
