As a local Chinese eatery, No.1 Chinese Restaurant aims to serve the Hampton community with a variety of Chinese dishes.

Based on the available online reviews from customers, experiences at No.1 Chinese Restaurant appear to be significantly negative, particularly concerning customer service and food quality/safety. One reviewer recounted a distressing experience involving an online order pickup. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the reviewer stated that they were left unattended for approximately five minutes while a staff member, presumably the cook, was visible but did not acknowledge their presence despite being greeted. After leaving due to being ignored, the reviewer received a call from a man, presumably associated with the restaurant, inquiring about the order. When the reviewer explained their reason for leaving was the rude treatment, the response from the man was dismissive and unconcerned ("ok I don’t care"). This interaction paints a picture of unprofessional and disrespectful customer service.

Furthermore, this same reviewer shared a previous negative experience at No.1 Chinese Restaurant, mentioning that on a prior visit, the egg rolls they ordered were burnt. Based on these two encounters, this customer expressed a strong personal decision not to return to the establishment, although they refrained from explicitly telling others to avoid it. They also offered a preference for Cantonese cuisine and indicated that their visit to No.1 Chinese Restaurant was merely due to its location.

Another review detailed a disturbing incident involving food contamination. This customer ordered the lunch special, which included chicken and broccoli with white rice. They initially found the food to be satisfactory, noting it was "nice and hot." However, their experience took a turn for the worse when they discovered a dead fly in their meal. Upon contacting the restaurant to report this serious hygiene issue, the response they received was far from satisfactory. The restaurant reportedly told the customer that they would need to call back and "INVESTIGATE" the matter. When the restaurant did call back, they allegedly accused the customer of being "RUDE" for reporting the presence of a dead, cooked fly in their food. The reviewer expressed outrage at this response, stating that they felt fortunate that their reaction was limited to being perceived as rude. They even indicated having photographic evidence of the incident.

Considering these two reviews, the overall impression of No.1 Chinese Restaurant is overwhelmingly negative. Both reviews highlight significant issues that would be major concerns for potential customers. The first review points to a pattern of rude and dismissive behavior from the staff, both in person and over the phone, as well as problems with food preparation (burnt egg rolls). The second review raises serious food safety and hygiene concerns with the discovery of a dead fly in a meal, compounded by an unprofessional and accusatory response from the restaurant management when the issue was reported.

For local users in Hampton, VA, who are considering No.1 Chinese Restaurant, it is crucial to be aware of these reported experiences. The negative feedback regarding customer service suggests a potentially unpleasant interaction with the staff. The issues raised about food quality, including burnt food and the presence of a foreign object (a dead fly), are significant health and safety concerns that should not be taken lightly. These reviews do not provide any information about the restaurant's environment or any positive features that might outweigh these serious drawbacks.

Given the severity of the complaints, particularly the food contamination issue and the alleged rude response from the management, potential customers might want to exercise extreme caution before deciding to order from or visit No.1 Chinese Restaurant. The lack of any positive feedback in these reviews further underscores the potential risks associated with this establishment.

There is no information available in the provided text about any promotional offers or specific features of No.1 Chinese Restaurant that might be worth considering. The focus of the customer feedback is solely on negative aspects of service and food quality/safety.

In conclusion, the available online reviews paint a concerning picture of No.1 Chinese Restaurant in Hampton, VA. Potential customers should be aware of the reported rude customer service, issues with food preparation (burnt egg rolls), and a serious incident involving food contamination (a dead fly in a meal) accompanied by an unprofessional response from the restaurant. Based on this information, it would be prudent for local users to carefully consider these negative experiences before choosing to patronize No.1 Chinese Restaurant.

I asked for fresh cooked chicken wings indicated I was willing to wait. The owner looked me up and down racially profiling me stating I'm not cooking you any fresh chicken wings. I left out, I was treated indifferent because of my race and clothing.... Fresh off of work

Ordered dinner for the family from here. Everything was absolutely delicious. Everything being crab ragoon, dumplings, bourbon chicken, chicken teriyaki, lo mein, and egg rolls. All the food was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and the chicken was so tender. Definitely our new favorite Chinese food restaurant!

I love their Hibachi style dinners, chicken with broccoli, egg foo young, fried rice, egg rolls, and lo mein. I'm still trying their other dishes.
