As a local Chinese Restaurant, No 1 Chinese Food aims to serve the Wildwood community. However, recent customer reviews provide some insights into the dining experience that potential customers may want to consider.

One customer expressed significant disappointment, stating that the food was not the "best" and describing the fried rice as tasting like steamed rice with yellow coloring and a poor flavor. The General Taos Chicken was described as soggy, not crispy, and lacking spiciness, with the broccoli being the most palatable item. The house Lomein was also reported as not tasting fresh, with overly soft noodles and an "okay" flavor. The egg rolls were criticized for having a mushy, non-fresh filling.

Another review echoed negative sentiments, particularly regarding the wonton soup, where the wrappers were described as thick and tasteless, making it difficult to discern the filling. The Chicken Chow Mein was also a point of dissatisfaction, described as a "mushy soup like dish" with bean sprouts, slivered celery, and onions, but lacking noodles and flavor. This customer also indicated they would not order from the restaurant again.

Definitely NOT the best, or No. 1 Chinese that we've had. Actually disappointed. Fried rice was not fried, tasted like steam rice with yellow coloring, flavor was not good, probably the worst fried rice Ive ever had anywhere. General Taos Chicken was so-so, Definitely not spicy at all, was soggy, not crispy. Best tasting on the plate was the broccoli. Also, had house Lomein, that didn't taste fresh either, noodles too soft, flavor was just okay. Egg Rolls not good, mixture inside the egg roll was mushy, not fresh. Disappointed, will not return.

Won ton soup. The wrap is so thick n tasteless you cant tell whats inside. Chicken chow mein. Apparently the east coast has its own version. No noodles just bean sprouts slivered celery and onions in a mushy soup like dish. No noodles! Tasteless also. Wont order from here again.

My chicken with mixed vegetables and pork. Fried rice was very good. The barbecue spareribs appetizer was over cooked and kind of tough and kind of expensive. Won’t be getting those again.

This was the worst pork egg foo Yung I’ve ever had. I got the combo. First the pork egg foo yung looked like frozen patties. Maybe they were or maybe they were not but the taste was bad. They were perfectly shaped round patties about 1/2” think. The carrots and peas were hard and the patties tasteless. The egg roll had nothing but something white and tasteless inside and tasted freezer burnt on the ends. The rice was hard and the peas and carrots were hard. I don’t usually bother to right bad reviews but this was terrible and I won’t go back.

We were in the area in late afternoon. We decided to give No. 1 Chinese a try. I’m glad we did. We waited about 10 minutes for a “Happy Family.” We could see the food being prepared behind the counter with a deep fryer and wok. One other party was dining in the small eat in area. Another gentleman was also waiting for his takeout order. Our order was still hot when we got home about 20” later. The rice was excellent: moist and a generous serving. The main dish was plentiful; we had enough for four servings for two people. It has been our experience that Chinese restaurants have stacks of paper menus. I’ve wondered about that for pricing reasons. So I was a little surprised at the $2 increase from the printed menu and the price we paid. We will definitely be back. We were welcomed and our business was appreciated.
