About No. 1 China
No. 1 China is a Chinese restaurant located at 198 Okatie Village Dr # 101 in Okatie, South Carolina. Based on recent customer reviews, the establishment appears to primarily cater to takeout orders, although the physical environment seems to lack a welcoming dine-in setting. They can be contacted at (843) 705-6689 or +1 843-705-6689 for placing orders.
Recent customer feedback paints a very negative picture of No. 1 China, highlighting significant issues with both service and food quality. One reviewer recounted a bizarre experience where, despite the restaurant being empty, the person taking their order interrupted them mid-order to attend to a walk-in customer, simply walking away without finishing the initial transaction. This same reviewer described the food as "awful" and "high priced," noting that the egg rolls were small with minimal filling. They were also charged extra for mustard and did not receive any complimentary duck sauce. The service was further criticized, with the staff member behind the counter being labeled as "rude and impassive." The reviewer also mentioned the slow service despite the lack of customers, observing the cook socializing while their order was being packed. Expressing deep disappointment, they also claimed that their bill was rounded up from the amount shown on the cash register and suggested that the restaurant was better under previous ownership, recommending alternative nearby establishments like Chin Dynasty or Hong Kong.
Another customer shared an even more scathing review, declaring it the "worst Chinese food I've ever tried." They spent a substantial $42 on two lunch specials, two egg rolls, shrimp lo mein, and fried dumplings, anticipating leftovers that they ultimately deemed inedible. This reviewer described the physical place as "gross," noting the absence of tables, the presence of COVID plastic barriers, and an overall empty room. The service was again heavily criticized, with the person taking the order allegedly responding with dismissive "yeah, yeah, yeah" remarks. As for the food, the reviewer found it "sickening," describing the General Tso's chicken and Kung Pao chicken as consisting of frozen breaded nuggets with sauce poured on top. The egg roll was identified as a fried spring roll, and the fried dumplings were described as pan-seared wontons. Despite the shrimp lo mein looking appealing, they were too apprehensive to try it and ultimately discarded their entire order. Even the fried rice, which they believed should be a simple dish to prepare, was deemed a failure, described as low-cost rice with brown sauce. This customer summarized their experience as the "worst ever."
Based on these two recent and very negative reviews, No. 1 China appears to be a Chinese restaurant that struggles significantly with both the quality of its food and the professionalism of its service. Customers have described the food as awful, bland, and consisting of low-quality ingredients or preparation methods. The pricing has been deemed high relative to the perceived quality and portion sizes. The service has been characterized as rude, inattentive, and unprofessional, with instances of interrupted orders and dismissive behavior.
The environment of No. 1 China, based on the second review, seems uninviting for dine-in customers, lacking tables and having an overall "gross" and empty feel, possibly indicating that their business primarily focuses on takeout. The presence of COVID plastic barriers suggests a lack of attention to creating a welcoming atmosphere.
There is no information available regarding any special features or promotional offers at No. 1 China. The focus of the recent feedback is overwhelmingly negative, centered on the poor quality of the food and the unsatisfactory service.
For local users in Okatie seeking a Chinese restaurant, the recent reviews for No. 1 China serve as strong warnings. The reported issues with rude service, high prices for subpar food, and a generally unpleasant experience should give potential customers significant pause. The recommendations to try alternative local establishments further underscore the negative perception of No. 1 China among these reviewers.
In conclusion, recent customer experiences at No. 1 China in Okatie, SC, are overwhelmingly negative, citing awful and overpriced food, rude and unprofessional service, and an uninviting environment. Local users are strongly advised to consider these serious concerns before deciding to patronize this establishment and may want to explore other Chinese dining options in the area.

Customer Reviews
The place was empty and right in the middle of me ordering, someone walked in, interrupted and the woman taking my order just walked away to take his order! Food was awful and high priced; the egg rolls are small and with scant filling. They charged me the mustard and didn't even include any packages of duck sauce! The gal behind the counter was rude and impassive. It was so slow considering it was lunch hour, that the cook was able to socialize with the woman behind the counter while my order was being packed up. Very disappointed 😔. They also rounded up my bill from what it said on the cash register!! Accoding to much older reviews, things were better when previous owners had the place. I should have gone to Chin Dynasty or Hong Kong a few miles away! .
This was the worst Chinese food I've ever tried! $42 for 2 lunch specials, 2 egg rolls, shrimp lo main and fried dumplings...figured we'd try our favorites and enjoy left overs! Forget about it! The place is gross...no tables, covid plastic, empty room. The lady is rude...while ordering she just kept saying, "yeah, yeah, yeah". And the food...sickening! General Taos...frozen breaded nuggets with sweet sauce poured on, Kung Pao Chicken same breaded nuggets with brown sauce, egg roll is a fried spring roll and the fried dumplings were pan seared wantons...shrimp lo mein looked good but we were too scared to try it. Dumped everything in trash...worst experience ever! Oh and the fried rice...how the heck can you screw that up...but they did...some low cost rice with brown sauce.
Bad service and pretty dirty inside. My food was 9.80 after tax so I handed her my card - she charged me 10.00 and said it’s their system rounds up. So you stole my .20?? Pretty sure that’s illegal. Will not be going back. Edit: I made the initial review before trying the food as I don’t expect much from cheap Chinese takeout but keyword is try. Because I didn’t eat it. Food was super bland and chicken was all gristle.
The Numbet One China restaurant is overall good. My chicken and broccoli was fresh. They even added a few other veggies. The rice was light and fluffy. My only issue is that it is not very flavorful. I added soy sauce, garlic and onion powder to enhance the dish. I am use to this dish to be in a brown sauce instead it was a white sauce. So, the next time I ordered I requested a brown sauce which was an improvement. The kitchen is open to view which showed that they are very clean. Their prices are very reasonable and their staff was very accommodating. I have been back.
Food very mediocre. Be careful with your order. Waitress will ask if you want white rice on the side. That puts you at a dinner price, rather than lunch price. Food is not authentic, and it’s not even good. Take out only option. It’s a rip off. I won’t return.
