About No.1 China
No.1 China is a Chinese restaurant located at 617 Main St N, New Ellenton, SC 29809, USA. As a local establishment offering Chinese cuisine, No.1 China primarily operates as a takeout or to-go restaurant, as indicated by a recent customer review. They can be contacted at (803) 652-8889 or +1 803-652-8889 to place orders or for any inquiries.
Customer reviews for No.1 China present a somewhat varied picture of the dining experience. One customer, who ordered a significant amount of food for their family on their first visit, had a mixed reaction. They found the peppered steak with onion and peppers to be "very tasty" but expressed disappointment with the quantity of steak received, feeling "messed over" and that the restaurant's explanation upon calling back was unsatisfactory, labeling it "what a rip off." This same customer also found the sesame chicken to be "sooooo dry and hard," stating they would not order it again, and described the fried rice as having "no taste" and not being "worth the money." However, they did find the sweet and sour chicken and lo mein noodles to be "both amazing," concluding with a somewhat ambivalent "so good luck hope everyone else has a good experience," highlighting the inconsistency in their order.
Another customer approached No.1 China with skepticism due to "so many bad reviews" but was ultimately glad they decided to try it. They found the food and the price to be "decent" and ordered a variety of dishes: egg foo young with white rice, won ton soup, and steamed dumplings. This customer also received a free egg roll due to their total exceeding $20, indicating a potential promotional offer based on the order amount. Regarding the specific dishes, they found the egg foo young to be "a little greasy and lacked flavor" despite being filled with shrimp, peas, and onions, noting that "the gravy was the only thing that saved this dish." The won ton soup was rated as "good." The steamed dumplings had a filling that differed from what the customer was accustomed to, and they "didn't care for it," although the "ginger-soy dumpling sauce was spicy and good," making the dumplings "edible." The egg roll was described as having "very little filling" but was still considered "good." This reviewer also noted that the establishment itself was "small but clean" and reiterated that it is "to-go or take-out only." They concluded by expressing a willingness to visit again to try other dishes, suggesting a somewhat positive overall impression despite the mixed results with their initial order.
Based on these two recent reviews, several observations can be made about No.1 China. The quality and taste of the food appear to be inconsistent across different dishes. While some items, like the peppered steak, sweet and sour chicken, and lo mein, have been praised, others, such as the sesame chicken, fried rice, egg foo young, and steamed dumplings, have received negative or lukewarm feedback. Even within a single order, a customer experienced both highly satisfying and very disappointing dishes. The egg roll also received mixed reviews, with one finding it good despite little filling, and the other not mentioning it specifically.
Regarding the environment, one reviewer described the establishment as "small but clean," which is a positive aspect for a takeout-focused restaurant. There is no mention of a dine-in area, reinforcing the likelihood that No.1 China primarily caters to takeout orders. Further details about the interior ambiance or any specific features of the physical space are not provided.
The primary service offered by No.1 China appears to be takeout. The positive mention of a free egg roll for orders over $20 suggests a potential promotional strategy to encourage larger orders. However, no other specific promotional information, such as regular discounts or specials on certain dishes, is mentioned in the provided reviews. The willingness of the restaurant to take a large first-time order indicates a capacity to handle family-sized meals.
In terms of features, the menu includes a variety of standard Chinese-American dishes, such as peppered steak, sesame chicken, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, lo mein, egg foo young, won ton soup, steamed dumplings, and egg rolls. The differing opinions on the quality and taste of these dishes suggest that some may be stronger offerings than others. The "different filling" in the steamed dumplings indicates a potential variation from regional or typical preparations.
To get a more comprehensive understanding of No.1 China's menu, services, and any current promotions, it would be advisable to contact the restaurant directly at (803) 652-8889. Given the mixed reviews, local users might want to inquire about popular dishes or specials and consider trying a few different items to form their own opinion. The positive feedback on certain dishes like the sweet and sour chicken and lo mein, coupled with the cleanliness of the establishment and the potential for promotional freebies, might make No.1 China worth trying, especially for takeout in the New Ellenton area.

Not pleased at all first time eating here ordered alot of food for my family the peppered steak with onion and peppers was very tasty but as you can see they messed me over on the steak badly when I called back asking about it that's just how they make it what a rip off we also got sesame chicken it was sooooo dry and hard never doing that again and the fried rice had no taste not worth the money but hey the sweet and sour chicken and lomein noodles were both amazing so good luck hope everyone else has a good experience
I was skeptical about visiting because of so many bad reviews it reviews. I'm glad I checked it out anyway. The food and the price were decent. I ordered a variety of dishes: egg foo young with white rice, won ton soup, and steamed dumplings. I received a free egg roll due to my total being over $20. The egg foo young was a little greasy and lacked flavor despite being filled with shrimp, peas and onions. The gravy was the only thing that saved this dish. The won ton soup was good. The steamed dumplings had a different filling than I'm accustomed to. I didn't care for it. The ginger-soy dumpling sauce was spicy and good, which made the dumplings edible. The egg roll had very little filling but it was good. The establishment itself was small but clean. It's to-go or take-out only. I'm willing to visit again in hopes of finding dishes I like better. Stay tuned...
The food is excellent! I definitely recommend their Sesame Chicken. Their sesame sauce is a balanced combination of sweet, sour, and spicy, and it is perfectly fried! The employees are nice and are willing to answer any questions. Definitely will come back again!
Great food. The only place that I go when I am looking for Asian food. Inside could use a little updating but its not a deal breaker
I really recommend this restaurant! Their Sesame Chicken and cheese wonton are really great.
