About Niu Yi Zui

Welcome to Niu Yi Zui, a Chinese restaurant situated at 9968 Bellaire Blvd Ste 220, Houston, TX 77036, USA. As a Chinese Restaurant, Niu Yi Zui offers a menu with an emphasis on hand-made noodles, available in various sizes.

The restaurant itself is described as "interesting looking," with a "nice and modern" ambiance that offers a departure from typical Chinese restaurant decor. Customers have also consistently praised the service as "great" and noted the cleanliness of the establishment as "surprisingly clean." The pricing is also mentioned as "sensible."

However, reviews indicate that the menu, particularly in terms of warm dishes, is "very limited" or "sparse." A significant feature of Niu Yi Zui is their hand-made noodles, which customers acknowledge as "certainly are nice" and "fresh." However, some diners have experienced issues with the noodles being stuck together, making them frustrating to eat.

The quality of the beef appears to be a point of concern for several reviewers. It has been described as "rather poor, dry and chewy," and in one instance, a customer reported that their friend received "cold meat from the fridge" when ordering a beef dish. In contrast, the pork, specifically in the "oil splashed noodles with pork" dish, was recommended as the better meat option.

The sauces at Niu Yi Zui have received mixed feedback. While one customer found the sauce to be "good," they desired more and felt that the provided vinegar and chili oil were not sufficient substitutes in terms of volume and overall taste. Another diner who tried the "beef hamburger" found it "different" and "okay" but not particularly impressive.

Despite the positive remarks about the service and cleanliness, the subpar food quality, particularly the beef and issues with the noodles, has led at least one reviewer to state they "probably wouldn't come back." Another echoed this sentiment due to the limited menu and the quality of the meat.

In summary, Niu Yi Zui offers a modern environment with great service and sensible prices, specializing in hand-made noodles. However, potential customers should be aware of reported issues with the beef quality, the limited menu selection for warm dishes, and the possibility of noodles sticking together. The pork option in the oil-splashed noodles seems to be a safer meat choice based on current reviews.

Certainly an interesting looking restaurant, nice and modern and a break from the norm. The menu is very limited certainly in regards to warm offerings. There is an emphasis placed on hand made noodles that vary in size, and they are certainly are nice. However, the beef offered is rather poor, dry and chewy. In addition the dish I ordered was presented warm and became cold very quickly. Great service and sensible pricing, for me the menu offering is just to sparse and the meat just too cheap.

A little disappointed since I saw great reviews. The noodles were fresh but when they are stuck together, it was quite frustrating to eat. I got the oil splashed noodles with pork. By the way if you must try this place, get the pork. My friends got the beef and it was cold meat from the fridge. Seriously. You are welcome. The sauce was good but I wanted more. When I asked for more she pointed to the vinegar and Chili oil, which I guess made sense. But it just lacked volume and taste. I wish my review was different. I also got the beef hamburger. It was different for sure. Tasted okay, but not something that wowed me. I probably wouldn't come back. To be honest, the service was great and surprisingly clean here, but food was subpar. 3 stars for okay.

So the soup only has one option and to be honest it was a little flavorless. On the other hand the oil tossed noodles were absolutely amazing. Extremely flavorful noodles were super fresh, man that was good. I tried 2 appetizer egg options, I believe it was the secret egg I enjoyed most. Looks a tad scary but definitely a must try. I would definitely go back.

This place is located on Bellaire in a strip mall in Chinatown. It's not the most obvious of choices or easiest to find. However, I can assure you that it is indeed worth the trip. There is an open window to the kitchen where you view your noodles being hand made before your eyes! It has a nice interior. The menu is not in English so be prepared for that. But there are pictures of the different noodles which vary in degree of width from smallest to largest. Here's what to order: Dry Hot Oil Noodle in a large thickness (Erkuan) with Beef if you like meat (pictured). The meat is served cold for all the dishes and you add it in. I would not get the soup versions. Two colleges with me and myself were not impressed. It is bland. Also, there isn't an extensive drink menu. Their hot tea is literally just a Lipton tea bag. The portions are very large and no one was able to finish their meal. Prices are very reasonable; about $8-12/person. Will return.

Trendy interior design and modern seating arrangement. Like the ability to choose the type of noodles. Service is friendly. What I hope will be improved is the food quality. It’s a noodle themed restaurant. The soup base is bland; the noodle is over cooked (soggy), the beef texture and flavour could be improved. The side dishes lack flavour and complexity / character / soul. I hope they can improve on the food quality. I like the design of the place a lot!
