Customer reviews offer mixed opinions on New York Chinese Restaurant. One customer enjoyed the lunch special, particularly the spicy orange chicken which they found to have a perfect flavor, and the tasty egg drop soup. While they noted that the rice seemed undercooked, they felt the lunch special was a great value with a large amount of food. They also mentioned that the fountain soda was out of order, with only water bottles and cans available.

Another customer, who tries various Chinese restaurants, found the food to be just "alright," noting that they have had better elsewhere. They described the rice as plain and containing too many vegetables, although they appreciated the good amount of shrimp. The sweet and sour chicken was well-seasoned and fried nicely. However, this reviewer strongly disliked the steamed dumplings, describing them as the "most nastiest dumpling" they had ever tasted and noting their misshapen form.

Based on these reviews, New York Chinese Restaurant might offer good value with their lunch specials, particularly the spicy orange chicken and egg drop soup. However, there are concerns about the rice and a strong negative opinion regarding the steamed dumplings. The availability of drinks might also be limited to bottled water and cans. Potential customers may want to consider these varying experiences when deciding to dine here.

Had a lunch special spicy orange chicken was Very good and perfect flavor. The egg drop soup was very tasty too the rice seemed under cooked but for a lunch special it was a great price and lot of food. Fountain soda was broken so it's water bottles and cans only.

This the first time eating here , I try to eat at almost every Chinese out here cause I love Chinese n I would say this food was alright I had better .The rice tasted plain n it had to many vegetables in it but good amount of shrimp so I did like that , I also liked the sweet n sour chicken it was well seasoned n fried well but the dumplings was the most nastiest dumpling I ever tasted they wasn’t even shaped right so it’s a big no on the steamed dumpling here

The food here was absolutely disgusting, sorry to say. The orange chicken tasted like pure grease and salt; no hint of orange, rice vinegar, or chili pepper anywhere in the entree. Panda Express gets a bad rep but actually has quality orange chicken, especially compared to here. Wontons, usually filled with ground chicken or pork at most Chinese restaurants. I ordered fried wontons here and cracked one in half. The filling looked like brown slime and definitely didn’t look appetizing. The pork fried rice was the least bad thing that I ordered, but was not particularly good. I have to leave this review so that no one else comes here expecting good food after reading the misguided positive reviews that were left here.

SO happy we tried this place! Our neighbor recommended it (and it's about a 20+ minute drive to get there from our house). They do deliver but have a 6 mile radius. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. They labeled each dish clearly so we weren't confused what anything was. If you asked for extra sauce, it's yours. They have a self-serve station of additional condiments, including: duck sauce, soy sauce, hot sauce and hot mustard, among other essentials. We ordered online, which was easy. They have an extensive menu, but pictures of the dishes would've been nice since every place does things a little different. Everything is separated by protein/food type. Be sure to check out each category or you might miss something great or think they don't have what you want. While it's not the absolute best Chinese food I've ever had, it's still really good and definitely the best I've found here in Vegas, and we've tried many places. We ordered a very large order and tried a bunch of dishes. I will include photos, but I forgot to take photos before we dished up our plates, so many of them look somewhat empty. They DO NOT short you on the food. Several of our containers had to be taped shut bc the stuffed them so much. So, please don't think the photos indicate how much we received. The lemon chicken from the "chef's special" menu was great. It's breaded fried chicken breast and the sauce comes on the side. Love that bc the chicken doesn't get soggy. The sweet & sour chicken is the same. Ordered plain fried rice. It was honestly my least favorite of everything we tried. Not bad just pretty dry and not a lot of flavor. The lo mein with chicken was decent but it also needed more flavor or something. Just a little underwhelming. My husband was excited to finally find some authentic steamed dumplings. They were a little doughy, but good. The wontons are traditional, stuffed with pork, not cream cheese. Yum! The hot & sour soup was very good. You choose the spiciness. We chose 'extremely hot' and I thought it was too hot for more than a few bites but my hubs said he could've gone hotter. Very flavorful and loaded with ingredients. I really enjoyed the string bean chicken. Lots of green beans but there was also a good amount of chicken. Flavor was delicious. Mongolian beef was good. I was hoping for it to be a bit crispy but it wasn't. The beef was very tender and delicious. The dish was truly loaded with sliced, cooked onions. Tons of cashews in the cashew chicken and tons of peanuts in the Kung pao chicken. Overall, we loved the place. Great food. Prices were reasonable and the staff was very nice, even near closing time with a large order. It's worth the drive from our house and they will definitely be our new go-to spot for yummy Chinese food.
