The heart of New Sichuan lies in its diverse and flavorful menu, which showcases the distinctive characteristics of Sichuan cuisine. This culinary tradition is renowned for its liberal use of Sichuan peppercorns, garlic, chili peppers, and fermented broad beans, resulting in dishes that are often bold, aromatic, and complex. The menu at New Sichuan features a variety of classic and regional specialties, prepared with fresh ingredients and an emphasis on authentic flavors.

According to customer reviews, some of the standout dishes include the Chicken Lo Mein, a popular noodle dish that is often praised for its savory taste. The Ma Po Tofu with Minced Pork is another highly recommended item, representing the quintessential Sichuan flavor profile with its spicy, savory, and slightly numbing sensation. The Pork Soup Dumplings are also a significant draw, often anticipated for their delicate wrappers and flavorful, broth-filled centers. Customers have noted that these dishes are served steaming hot and fresh, indicating a commitment to quality and timely preparation.

However, as with any restaurant, individual preferences can vary. One reviewer mentioned that while they found the staff to be nice and the service careful, some of the dishes did not align with their personal taste. Specifically, the Chongquing Noodles were described as being too oily with an undesirable texture, and the Pork Soup Dumplings did not meet their expectations. The Fried Chicken Wings were deemed acceptable in terms of crispiness but lacking in flavor. It is important to acknowledge that taste is subjective, and what one person finds delightful, another might not. This feedback highlights the diverse nature of palates and the importance of exploring the menu to find dishes that resonate with individual preferences.

Despite some varied opinions on specific dishes, New Sichuan is generally regarded as a well-liked establishment within the Winston-Salem community. My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant for lunch after our class at Forsyth Tech. The inside feels very welcoming and cozy, whilst looking slightly upscale with the white table cloths and nice chairs. We ordered many things, which included the chicken Lo Mein, Ma Po Tofu with Minced Pork, and the Pork Soup Dumplings. All of the dishes came out quickly! They were all steaming hot and fresh. The taste of each of the dishes was absolutely savory and delicious. The staff were also very polite and made sure to check up on us multiple times. I will definitely be back soon to try more of your delectable food!

All the staff were nice and handled my order with care. However, I did not like the food and that may be a preference thing. I had the Chongquig noodles, pork soup dumplings, and fried chicken wings. The chicken wings were great besides the flavor component which was lacking. The soup dumplings had me very disappointed because that’s the whole reason I went there and they were not at all what I was expecting. The Chongquig noodles did not work for me and unfortunately I couldn’t eat them and that’s purely because I couldn’t get past the oil and the texture of the noodles. With all that being said, I know this is a well liked place. It just wasn’t for me unfortunately.

I was in search of more traditional Chinese, and my friend in Qingdao gave it their seal of approval to try. It did not disappoint!! Service was excellent and helpful while deciding, food was delivered very quickly, and my god was it delicious! The Tri Pepper Chicken was VERY spicy, but delicious. The Wong Lo Kat drink was also fantastic - it's like a sweet canned tea beverage, with a similar flavor of Thai tea. Really glad I tried it!! It's now a must stop any time I visit Winston-Salem. Highly recommend!

Amazing food!! Incredible flavors and options for everyone. This was our first time, and we will certainly make the trip from Greensboro to come back! A small, unassuming location. The interior was simple, clean, and cozy. Our favorites: 1. Dan Dan Noodles (a MUST try) 2. Ma Po Tofu (incredible flavor + texture) 3. Crispy Garlic Chicken (comforting, filling, and juicy!) Highly recommend this authentic Chinese spot!!

Problems with communication. I ordered my food mild, and it was much too spicy. There were a number of items that did not appear on the menu, and it was unclear what we could actually order. We were surprised they don't serve hot tea. Overall, it was a clunky and disappointing experience.
