Recent customer reviews of New Shing Wong present a mixed picture, with contrasting experiences regarding food quality and value. One customer expressed significant dissatisfaction, particularly with the sesame chicken. They reported that the chicken was hard and tasted old, and that there was a minimal amount of sauce. This negative review also included a sentiment that the restaurant's quality had declined significantly over time, suggesting that past positive experiences might no longer reflect the current standards.
In contrast, another customer had a very positive experience with the lunch special, which consisted of shrimp in garlic sauce. They described this dish as "amazing" and highlighted the value of the special, which included a choice of soup or soda for a price of $6.50. This reviewer opted for a Sprite as there was no vegetarian soup option available at the time of their visit. The positive feedback on the lunch special indicates that New Shing Wong can offer well-received and affordable options, at least during their lunch service.
The mention of a cash-only policy is consistent across the reviews where payment is discussed, indicating that customers should be prepared to pay with cash when visiting New Shing Wong. Additionally, the information that New Shing Wong "also offer latin american cuisine" is a significant and unique feature of this establishment, setting it apart from typical Chinese restaurants. This dual offering might appeal to a broader range of customers with different culinary preferences or those looking for a fusion of flavors.
Considering these two reviews, local users should be aware of the potential for variability in food quality, as highlighted by the starkly different experiences with the sesame chicken and the shrimp in garlic sauce. The positive feedback on the lunch special's taste and price suggests that dining during lunch hours might be a particularly good value. The unique offering of Latin American cuisine is a notable feature that could be a draw for those interested in exploring this culinary combination.
Information regarding the environment and services of New Shing Wong is somewhat limited in the provided reviews, which primarily focus on specific food items and payment methods. The positive review mentions quick service in the context of the lunch special, but there are no details about the restaurant's ambiance, decor, cleanliness, or the overall quality of dine-in service. The negative review does not comment on the service itself, only the food quality. Local users seeking information on these aspects might need to visit the restaurant or look for additional reviews on other platforms.
The unique feature of New Shing Wong is its dual offering of Chinese and Latin American cuisine. This is not a common combination and could be a significant draw for customers looking for variety or a specific fusion of flavors. The positive review of the lunch special also suggests that their pricing can be competitive, at least for certain menu items during specific times. The cash-only policy is a notable operational aspect that customers need to be aware of.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information mentioned in the reviews, beyond the mention of the affordable price of the lunch special ($6.50). This could be considered a standing promotional offering during lunch hours. Local users interested in other potential promotions or special offers would need to contact the restaurant directly or check local listings.
In conclusion, New Shing Wong in Hempstead, NY, presents a mixed profile based on the limited recent customer feedback. While one customer experienced significant issues with the sesame chicken, another highly recommended the shrimp in garlic sauce lunch special for its taste and value. The unique offering of Latin American cuisine and the cash-only policy are notable features. Local users considering New Shing Wong might find the lunch specials to be a good option, but should be aware of the potential for inconsistencies in food quality based on the reviews. Exploring the Latin American side of their menu could also be a unique experience. It may be beneficial to inquire about specific dishes or read more reviews to get a broader understanding of what New Shing Wong currently offers.
For local residents in Hempstead, NY, New Shing Wong represents a Chinese restaurant with the unusual addition of Latin American cuisine. If you are looking for an affordable lunch option, the shrimp in garlic sauce lunch special received positive feedback. However, the reported issues with the sesame chicken serve as a reminder to consider the potential for variability in quality. The cash-only policy is also a practical consideration for payment. The dual cuisine offering makes New Shing Wong a potentially interesting spot to explore if you have a diverse palate or are looking for a unique culinary combination.

I ordered the lunch special shrimp in garlic sauce and it was amazing, it came with the choice of soup or soda and I had a sprite as they did not have a vegetarian option in the soup. The price was also great at $6.50, they only take cash and also offer latin american cuisine.
Called to order food. She kept ignoring me on the phone while talking to someone else. After calling back 3 more times to order they hung up mid order. I call back and say I'm not done and try to pay with my credit card only for them to give me an attitude about not accepting credit as a payment in the year 2016! Worse place ever!
