About New shing

New Shing is a Chinese restaurant located at 3545 Frankford Ave in Philadelphia, PA. You can contact them for orders or inquiries at (215) 533-0937 or their mobile number +1 215-533-0937.

Customer reviews for New Shing present a mixed but leaning positive picture. One recent customer, new to the area, was initially hesitant but found the rice and wings to be particularly good, even on their own without additional seasoning. They also praised the cheesesteak and egg rolls for not being skimpy on fillings. The "Spicy General Tso’s" was described as exceptionally good, even convincing someone who doesn't typically enjoy the dish to want their own platter. This reviewer placed multiple orders over two months and reported consistent satisfaction, recommending pickup to avoid delivery fees.

In contrast, a long-time resident of the area shared a significantly negative experience, citing repeated issues over 16 years such as burnt food, bugs, and questionable meat quality. This reviewer expresses strong dissatisfaction with the standards of this Frankford Ave location compared to another store owned by the same entity, urging them to leave the area.

For local users considering New Shing, it appears that recent experiences for some have been positive, with specific praise for dishes like the rice, wings, and General Tso's chicken. The reviewer also found the service to be friendly. However, it's important to acknowledge the serious concerns raised by a long-term resident regarding past food quality and hygiene. Potential customers may want to weigh these contrasting opinions when making their decision.

As a Chinese restaurant in the Frankford Ave area, New Shing primarily seems to cater to takeout. While one reviewer found the store environment to be "fine" and not unusually unclean, the starkly different experience reported by another longtime customer suggests a potential inconsistency in quality and standards over time. No specific promotional information was available in the provided reviews.

New to the area and had to leave my chinese spot behind so I was hesitant to try this place. Immediately heard something good about the rice, then someone praised the wings. Both before I tried. It’s a Chinese store in North Philly. Expecting it to be spotless is bogus. Store is fine. Doesn’t smell weird. It’s solid really. I saw people complained about rudeness or something but I ain’t seen it. Dude is hella cool. Started with ordering White rice/ Pork Fried Rice platters w/ plain wings. Nothin on em…. Mannnn 😮‍💨. They Was good on it’s own. I did try with salt and pepper and it was over seasoned. But save yourself the sodium. They don’t need nothing on em. Cheese steak roll is pretty solid. Not shrimpy like some places be. Same with the Egg roll. Spicy General Tso’s, I dunno how to explain it but them jawns hit different. Mind you my fiancée doesn’t eat general Tso’s all like that. Even she wanted a platter of her own. Placed about 5 orders over two months, paid more than $40 one time (Family of 4.) They ain’t miss. Save yourself on delivery fees and up charges, get some fresh air and pick up a platter.

I lived around the corner for 16 years and have had several bad experiences. Give them a shot every few years cause they r so close but never fails ether burnt food bugs in the food or really wierd meat like all jokes aside they might do the rat thing....please do us all a solid and leave the area. Let someone who cares own a business there or just treat it the way you treat your store over by Wilson's beef .I don't understand how you own both but have totally different standards when it comes to quality of food and the cleanliness of your store ...have some self pride your Frankford Ave store is a embarrassment

New ownership sucks... I have been ordering from this Chinese take out for over 20 years. And have never had problems with this place until the new owner took over. My uncle took money out of the ATM here. Then he picked up food at the window. Some guy with a gun walked in right in front the owner put the gun to my uncles back then took his keys credit card and 4 dollars dollars out of his pocket, then took off with the food my uncle just paid for, my uncle asked the owner to call the police, the owner told my uncle it not my problem, "I no get involved" my uncle said "no, you yes get involved, ". If that's the way you treat your customers, you just lost the business of me and everyone I know, living in the area for just over 31 years, I know a ton people.

The store smells very bad, they open whenever they want to open. They are very disrespectful and don't like giving change back.
