About New Sheng

New Sheng is a Chinese restaurant located at 1029 E 167th St, Bronx, NY 10459, USA, serving the local community in the Bronx, New York City. While categorized as a "Chinese Restaurant," customer reviews suggest that New Sheng operates more as a takeout or "grab and go" establishment rather than a traditional full-service restaurant due to its limited seating and service model.

Regarding the environment, one reviewer described New Sheng as a "pretty small spot" with a "small seating area" consisting of just a couple of tables and a few chairs. At the time of their visit, this seating area was noted to be disorganized, with food crumbs left on the tables from previous customers and trash on the floor. The reviewer expressed a concern that the staff did not appear to be regularly cleaning these areas. Additionally, the counter area allows a view into the kitchen, which the reviewer found to be "OK" but noted some "unnecessary clutter." These observations suggest that while the food preparation area might have met a basic standard, the customer-facing areas might lack consistent cleanliness and organization.

The services at New Sheng seem to be primarily focused on order taking and food preparation for takeout. One customer described the counter person as "quick and straight forward" in taking their order, and the food was prepared and packed relatively fast, within approximately 8-10 minutes. This efficiency aligns with the description of New Sheng as a "grab and go spot." It is important to note that New Sheng has certain limitations in terms of customer amenities. According to a review, the establishment does not accept credit cards, operating on a cash-only basis. Furthermore, customers should not expect to find a customer bathroom or dedicated customer parking available at this location. These limitations further emphasize the takeout-centric nature of New Sheng's operations.

In terms of features, the menu at New Sheng is described as "pretty much straight forward, simple, and self explanatory," with menus displayed both on the walls and above the counter. This suggests a traditional and easily understandable selection of standard Chinese dishes commonly found in takeout restaurants. Despite the concerns raised about the environment and lack of amenities, one reviewer noted that "the food looked good and was delicious," indicating that the quality of the food itself can be a positive aspect of New Sheng.

However, another customer shared a significantly negative experience, reporting a serious issue with food safety and service. This reviewer claimed to have found hair in their food and alleged that the chicken they consumed caused food poisoning. Furthermore, they described a negative encounter with the delivery person, who reportedly begged for a tip, acted disrespectfully towards their child, cursed at the customer in Chinese after being refused a tip, and gave them a "nasty look." This review raises serious concerns about hygiene practices in the kitchen and the professionalism of the delivery staff.

The stark contrast between the two reviews makes it challenging to form a definitive overall assessment of New Sheng. While one customer found the food delicious and the counter service efficient, they also noted issues with cleanliness and the lack of standard amenities. The other review presents severe allegations regarding food safety and highly unprofessional behavior from a delivery person, which are significant red flags for potential customers.

Given these conflicting accounts, local users should approach New Sheng with caution. The positive aspect seems to be the potential for tasty food and quick service for takeout orders. However, the reported issues concerning cleanliness in the dining area and, more seriously, the allegations of hair in food and food poisoning cannot be ignored. The negative experience with the delivery person also highlights potential inconsistencies in service quality.

Currently, no information regarding promotional offers or special deals at New Sheng is available in the provided reviews. As a smaller, primarily takeout-focused establishment, they may not frequently offer promotions. Local users interested in any potential discounts or specials might need to inquire directly when placing an order or visiting the location.

In conclusion, New Sheng on E 167th Street in the Bronx appears to be a Chinese takeout spot that may offer delicious food and quick service. However, potential customers should be aware of reported issues regarding cleanliness in the limited seating area and the serious allegations of food safety concerns and unprofessional delivery service. The establishment operates on a cash-only basis and does not provide a customer bathroom or parking. While the menu is straightforward, the overall experience seems to vary significantly based on the limited available feedback. Local users may want to weigh the convenience and potential taste of the food against the reported negative aspects before deciding to order from New Sheng.

This place.... I'm not sure if one would call it a Restaurant but it is a pretty small spot. The place has a small seating area with a couple of tables and a few chairs which where not organized at the time of my visit. Tables had food crumbs from the last folks who where seated and there was trash on the floor, you'd think the staff would wipe them down and sweep up. You can also look into the Kitchen from the counter and judge for yourself whether its clean or not but I say it looked OK to me, just some unneccesary clutter here and there I noticed. The counter person was quick and straight forward taking my order and food was done and packed in about 8-10 minutes. NO Credit cards accepted here, Don't expect a customer Bathroom or a Customer Parking lot available here. Their Meñus, both on the walls and above their counter is pretty much straight foward, simple, and self explanatory. Despite everything the food looked good and was delicious but this is by far not a high end spot, its more like.... a grab and go spot or takeout spot. Thank you enjoy.

The cooks should start wearing hair nets. There was hair in my food. The chicken gave me food poising. The delivery guy is rude, he kept begging for a tip & proceeded to look at my child in disgust. So I said no & he cursed me out in Chinese & gave me a nasty look. Wouldn’t recommend

The lunch pepper steak and baby shrimp with broccoli no flavor just over load of salt. The egg rolls are ok and the delivery man was good, so they got 2 stars. If salt or pressure issues, don't bother.
