About New Port Dim Sum and Chinese Food
Welcome to New Port Dim Sum and Chinese Food, a Chinese restaurant located at 1686 S Wolfe Rd in Sunnyvale, California. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, New Port aims to provide a diverse selection of both traditional dim sum and classic Chinese dishes to the local community. Situated in Sunnyvale, it offers a convenient dining option for those seeking a taste of Cantonese-style cuisine.
Based on recent customer feedback, the experience at New Port Dim Sum and Chinese Food appears to be somewhat varied. One reviewer enthusiastically described it as "one of the best Dim Sum places in the Bay Area," praising the "variety of flavors and options" available. This positive review also highlighted the "excellent" service and specifically recommended trying the "shrimp with banana dumplings," labeling it a must-try dish and giving the overall experience a perfect 10/10 rating. This suggests that at certain times, New Port may offer a high-quality dim sum experience with unique and well-received dishes.
However, another more recent review presents a contrasting perspective. This customer stated that the restaurant "used to be excellent, but no longer." Their feedback pointed to concerns about the food quality, describing it as "lukewarm and stale." Specific dishes mentioned in this negative review included the "shrimp rice noodle rolls" which were priced at $9, the "roasted duck appetizer" priced at $12 and described as "mostly bones," and the "fried shrimp and chive dumplings" which were characterized as "soggy." This more critical review raises concerns about consistency in food preparation and quality at New Port.
Considering these two distinct viewpoints, it's important for potential customers to be aware of the mixed feedback regarding New Port Dim Sum and Chinese Food. While one reviewer had a stellar experience, particularly with the dim sum and a unique dish like the shrimp with banana dumplings, another found the quality to have declined, citing issues with temperature, freshness, and the proportion of meat to bone in an appetizer, as well as texture problems with dumplings.
Given the limited information available from these two reviews, it's challenging to provide a comprehensive overview of the restaurant's environment, services beyond the mention of "excellent" in one review, specific features, or any current promotional information. The reviews primarily focus on the food quality and a brief mention of service.
The contrasting nature of the reviews suggests a potential inconsistency in the dining experience at New Port Dim Sum and Chinese Food. Factors such as the time of visit, specific dishes ordered, and changes in kitchen staff or management could potentially contribute to these varying experiences. For local users considering dining at New Port, it might be prudent to take these recent reviews into account.
If you are a fan of dim sum and Chinese cuisine and are intrigued by the positive mention of variety and unique dishes like the shrimp with banana dumplings, New Port might still be worth a visit. However, the concerns raised in the more critical review regarding food temperature, freshness, and value for money should also be considered. It may be helpful to inquire about the freshness of specific dishes or perhaps try a smaller order initially to gauge the current quality.
To get a more up-to-date understanding of the current environment, services, and any potential promotions at New Port Dim Sum and Chinese Food, it would be beneficial to contact them directly at (408) 737-9976 or their mobile number +1 408-737-9976. You could also look for more recent reviews on other platforms to get a broader sense of the current customer sentiment. Visiting the restaurant in person might also provide insights into the ambiance and service style.
In conclusion, New Port Dim Sum and Chinese Food in Sunnyvale has received both high praise for its dim sum variety, unique offerings like the shrimp with banana dumplings, and excellent service, as well as criticism regarding the temperature and freshness of some dishes, the proportion of ingredients, and overall food quality. Potential customers should weigh these contrasting experiences when considering dining at this establishment. Further investigation through direct contact or additional reviews might be helpful in making an informed decision.

One of the best Dim Sum places in the Bay Area. Variety of flavors and options. The service is excellent. If you never had shrimp with banana dumplings, you must try it here. 10/10 🤩
Used to be excellent, but no longer. Food is lukewarm and stale. Shrimp rice noodle rolls are $9. Roasted duck appetizer $12 is mostly bones. Fried shrimp and chive dumplings are soggy.
This is definitely one of the best places to enjoy authentic and delicious dim sum! The variety of dishes is incredible, and the flavors are always fresh and flavorful, making it a top choice for dim sum lovers.
Great place for a family style dinner. One of the few restaurants that serves dim sum at dinner time. We ordered servings of dim sum, a whole crab, and several other dishes. The portions were large enough that we ended up taking four boxes to go! Very generous portions. Everything was delicious. One exception was the chow fun with eggplant and tofu. It was lightly sweet. It wasn't terrible, just different than we're used to. The service was really good, again not expected in a neighborhood Asian restaurant. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and brightly lit. Definitely recommended!!
Food: Super delicious and worth the price! Recommend the fish ball, fried shrimp balls and the fried turnip cake. The shrimp you get is mouthful and mouthwatering tasty! Service: they are busy and no staff is assigned to a table somehow, so we need to get their attention whenever we need something. But they don’t charge tea fee, which is pretty good and the quality is nice too. Ambiance: very authentic dim sum place and good for any size of a party!
