I'm so glad to have found this gem. I grew up in China and I'm vegan. While vegan Chinese food options are common in the US, they are usually limited and taste mediocre, so I had learned to rely on Thai and Vietnamese restaurants to quench my cravings until I found the New Peking Wok. They have a dedicated vegan menu. Each dish is incredibly delicious and flavorful. I don't know how they make them so tasty, and I know what you are thinking - it's not MSG. I am allergic to MSG and they never use it. The food still tastes freaking amazing without me having to worry about getting a migraine the next day. Their dishes are also not greasy like typical American Chinese restaurants. The moo shu tofu with thin pancakes is fantastic, and so are all their tofu dishes, with perfectly fried tofu. The texture and flavor are on point. Don't forget to ask for the chili oil to go with everything (it's flavorful and not spicy). The atmosphere is also very relaxing. With soft piano music in the background, it's easy to have conversations. Aside from the delicious vegan food and relaxing ambiance, the owners Lisa and her husband, the staff (Yun, Angel, Ada), and the chefs are all exceptionally friendly. Every time I visit there, it feels like going to see my big auntie and her family. It's not because I happen to have the appearance of a lost Chinese kid in a foreign land, they treat every customer with such kindness and enthusiasm. I only wish I lived closer so I could visit more often. If you love vegan Chinese food, definitely give them a try.

I came in thinking that Peking or Szechuan restaurants have very similar dishes. It’s always frustrating when a favorite dish disappears from local menus. Have you tried making Pickled Serrano Pepper Chicken with Black Beans Paste yourself? maybe there's a hidden gem somewhere in WA that still serves something close—might be worth digging around! The flavor of the Kung Pao Chicken itself was on point, but the excess spring onions might have overwhelmed the dish’s overall balance. Sometimes, too much of a fresh garnish can tip the scales and mask the subtle interplay of spices and textures. Have you found a version or a restaurant that gets the balance just right, or do you tend to customize your order when possible?

Both the mushroom chicken and sweet and sour pork were very tasty. Will go back again.

I placed an order over the phone for pickup. I was told 20min. Upon arriving, the food wasn't quite ready. I had guests over for dinner. When picking up the order, some gentleman came into the restaurant complaining and yelling, don't eat the chicken, it's tough. Didn't think much of it. They offered him $20. 00 back. Once the order was ready, got it home in anticipation of enjoying a good dinner. Once we started dishing up, the kids and guests were complaining about the food being tough and really not that good. I spent $155+ for dinner and this food was absolutely terrible. I had to go out and purchase something else to feed the family and guests. I have since boxed up the entire leftovers and will be returning this disgraceful meal. Made a phone call to them before closing, they are offering me $60.00 back. I'm requesting a full refund. This was the worst meal and service I've ever experienced in some time. I hope that you learn from your mistakes and try to improve your operation of business. I didn't even want to give it one star. Sincerely, a very disappointed customer.
