About New Peking

New Peking is a Chinese restaurant located at 1670 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence, RI 02904, USA. As a Chinese restaurant with a history in the Providence area (formerly in the old Shaw's plaza), New Peking offers a range of Chinese dishes.

They can be contacted at (401) 353-8666 or via mobile at +1 401-353-8666 for orders.

Customer reviews for New Peking present a mixed picture. One long-time customer has been getting food from them for many years and finds the food "consistently good" and "at a great price." This reviewer recommends focusing on "actual Chinese food dishes" like dumplings, beef Szechuan, sweet and sour shrimp, and egg foo young, and mentions their "old school hanger cut style" beef teriyaki. They advise against ordering "Americanized junk" like fried chicken or chicken wings and suggest picking up orders directly, as they have experienced issues with third-party delivery services. This reviewer describes the dining experience as more akin to eating takeout at the location, characterizing it as "old school diy" and not primarily set up for sit-down service.

Conversely, another recent review expresses a very negative experience, citing an incorrect order and disrespectful treatment when attempting to resolve the issue. This customer strongly advises against ordering from New Peking, labeling them a "horrible company" and a "SCAM!!"

Based on these reviews, New Peking appears to be a long-established Chinese restaurant with a history in the area. While one long-term customer praises the quality and price of their traditional Chinese dishes and recommends takeout, a more recent review reports significant issues with order accuracy and customer service. Potential customers may want to consider these contrasting experiences when deciding whether to order from New Peking, particularly regarding the type of dishes ordered and the method of receiving their food.

I've been getting food from these people since they were in the old Shaw's plaza in Providence. Food is consistently good and at a great price. If you get something like fried chicken or spare ribs it's not going to be the best. Get an actual Chinese food dish like dumplings or some beef Szechuan, sweat and sour shrimp, egg foo young, etc. Beef teriyaki will be old school hanger cut style. You might not like it if you're used to people who slice a filet these days. If you try to order the Americanized junk it's not as good, skip the chicken wings. Go pick it up. Grubhub messed up my orders before and I've eaten there like once since the 1990s. If you eat an expected to be like getting takeout but just eating it there. It's old school diy. They aren't set up to be sit down kind of place.

They gave me this and yelled at me when I told them Combo was wrong. It was supposed to have rice and be sticky wings. Not dried chicken. I could had went to KFC for that. They yelled at me and were very disrespectful when I tried to call back with an issue. Very very rude. Do NOT order from here. Horrible company. They are a SCAM!!

Horrible value for the money. I tried them one time for a lunch special and spent $7.40 for three wing dings and some fried rice that tasted old and oddly greasy. The taste was of re-warmed crunchy food and definitely not something I’ll go back to. I ended up tossing it.

Grubhub carryout order: Lunch Steak + peppers and onions with Lomien side. On Grubhub there was a 1$ lo mein upcharge if subbing for your side (which I'm fine with). Go into the store to only be asked for another 1$ to pay this upcharge. When I tried to challenge the matter, the owner's English became non existent. Food quality: It looked good, tasted meh. My Steak with peppers/onions had 1 slice of meat for the whole dish. Uneven cuts of peppers that took several bites to eat. The dumplings were okay.
