About New Peking
Welcome to New Peking, a long-standing presence in the Brooklyn Chinese Restaurant scene, located at 344 Classon Ave in the 11238 zip code. Based on customer reviews, New Peking is characterized as a "traditional hood Chinese Food spot," suggesting a no-frills establishment that has cultivated a loyal following within the local community. For residents of Brooklyn, particularly those in the vicinity of Classon Avenue, New Peking offers a familiar and perhaps nostalgic experience, prioritizing quick, hot food and friendly service over elaborate aesthetics.
One reviewer humorously outlines three primary reasons why someone might find themselves at New Peking. The first is a deep-rooted connection to the restaurant, with customers having frequented it "their whole life." This speaks to the longevity and community integration of New Peking, suggesting it has been a consistent part of the local culinary landscape for many years. The second reason cited is a specific menu item that is particularly appealing, so much so that it outweighs the "total lack of aesthetics and ambiance." This implies that while the decor and atmosphere may be basic or unexceptional, the quality or uniqueness of certain dishes keeps customers coming back. The third, and perhaps most emphatic, reason given is the exceptional quality of the egg rolls, with the reviewer even making a comparative claim to egg rolls from a similar establishment in Staten Island and strongly recommending them. This highlights the egg rolls as a potential signature item and a must-try for anyone visiting New Peking.
Another reviewer corroborates the positive sentiment towards the egg rolls, stating they have only tried the wings and the egg rolls, and that the "egg rolls and a coke" form the "best hangover meal there is." This suggests that New Peking is not only a regular dining option but also a go-to for comfort food at certain times. The reviewer further describes the staff as "friendly" and the location as a "hole in the wall next to public housing," reinforcing the image of a down-to-earth, community-oriented eatery. Despite its unassuming appearance, the food is described as "quick, hot," and the reviewer believes that the staff "generally care," indicating a level of personal touch and concern for their customers.
Beyond the egg rolls, the chicken wings at New Peking also receive a positive mention, being described as "pretty damn good." This suggests that alongside their renowned egg rolls, the wings are another menu item worth considering. The brevity of the reviews makes it difficult to ascertain other popular dishes or the full extent of their menu, but these two items clearly stand out in the customer feedback provided.
The description of New Peking as a "traditional hood Chinese Food spot" implies a focus on classic, perhaps Americanized, Chinese dishes that are typically found in neighborhood takeout restaurants. These often include items like fried rice, lo mein, various chicken and beef dishes with familiar sauces (e.g., General Tso's, Kung Pao, Sweet and Sour), and other standard appetizers like dumplings and wontons. The emphasis is usually on affordability, speed, and satisfying portions.
In terms of environment, the reviews suggest a very basic setting, with one reviewer explicitly mentioning a "total lack of aesthetics and ambiance" and another calling it a "hole in the wall." Customers visiting New Peking should likely not expect a visually impressive or particularly comfortable dining space. The focus appears to be squarely on the food and the service.
The services offered likely include both takeout and possibly limited dine-in options, given the "hood Chinese food spot" categorization, which often implies a strong takeout business. The quick preparation time mentioned in one review ("food is quick") suggests efficiency in fulfilling orders, whether for dining in or taking away. The friendly nature of the staff is a notable service aspect, contributing to a positive, if unpretentious, customer experience.
The primary features of New Peking seem to be its longevity within the community, its reputation for specific menu items like the egg rolls and possibly the chicken wings, its quick service, and its friendly staff. The lack of emphasis on ambiance suggests that the focus is on providing reliable, tasty food at a good value to its local customer base.
Promotional information is absent from the provided reviews. It is common for local restaurants, especially those with a long history in the neighborhood, to rely more on word-of-mouth and repeat business than on active promotions. However, New Peking might offer daily specials or lunch deals that are not mentioned in these brief reviews. Local users may want to inquire directly about any such offers when ordering.
For local users in the Classon Avenue area of Brooklyn, New Peking presents itself as a traditional, no-frills Chinese restaurant that has stood the test of time. If you prioritize quick, hot food and friendly service over a fancy dining environment, and if you're intrigued by the highly recommended egg rolls and the "pretty damn good" chicken wings, then New Peking might be worth a visit. It seems to be a neighborhood staple that has earned its loyal following through consistent delivery of certain dishes and a welcoming attitude.
Whether you're a longtime resident who has frequented New Peking for years, someone looking for a reliable hangover cure (involving egg rolls and a coke), or simply curious about a local favorite, New Peking offers a taste of traditional Brooklyn "hood Chinese food." To experience it for yourself, you can visit their location at 344 Classon Ave or call them at (718) 230-8881 or their mobile number +1 718-230-8881 to place an order or inquire further.

Traditional hood Chinese Food spot. There’s only 3 reasons why you would find yourself here: 1) You’ve been going to this spot your whole life. 2) There’s a particular menu item that you really like, which makes up for the total lack of aesthetics and ambiance. 3) The egg rolls at this Brooklyn hood Chinese Food spot taste so much better than the ones from the Staten Island hood Chinese Food spot. (I recommend the egg rolls.)
i've only had their wings and their egg rolls. egg rolls and a coke, best hangover meal there is. staff is friendly. it's a hole in the wall next to public housing, food is quick, hot and i do believe they generally care. chicken wings are pretty damn good
Okay I ordered my food and went to go pick it up. I gave them plenty of time to make it but it still wasn’t done and when I got there she then just told the man to make my order. That bothered me a little but the food just mad it worse. I got the orange chicken and white rice. The orange chicken was mushy, looked very rushed and tasted TERRIBLE. Like trash to be honest and the the white rice was old and stale. The restaurant is disgusting and dirty and needs to be cleaned up just walking in makes you feel disgusting. Definitely deserves one star. This was also not my first time going here but my second time and I had the same results as the first time.
The place is dirty. The chicken in the chicken and broccoli was only flour with no chicken. The vegetable rolls tasted like rusted metal. The fried chicken wings were fatty and soggy. Would never go here again.
How can people give 4 or 5 stars? It's ridiculous. The rice is always, what I call water logged aka mush, rice is supposed to be firm. The quality of the tso chicken and beef that comes with the broccoli are below standard, hint they need to buy fresh chicken and beef and know how to cook it. I have eaten Chinese food for 45 years from at least 6 different places when I lived in Williamsburg, and I have to say, I've never had such bad quality Chinese food, ever.... After trying the tso chicken my mom said, no way, take the train back to Williamsburg or find somewhere else, lol The chicken wings might as well be pigeon wings, both wings and half chicken are dry and tough, wings and half chicken are supposed to be golden, fluffy and crispy, not like dry leather. Now I will say, the Honey spare rib tips and boneless chicken are very good, I understand this is ghetto type Chinese food, but, oh boy. I'll order my food from somewhere else, on the app, or as I always go to Williamsburg once a month I'll get a few orders for the family I rather pay some more for quality. That is all. P.S watch for your change, they're money hungry and an attitude to boot. And their inspection has been pending since I moved here in April, heh, beware. One last thing, I come from a time when Chinese restaurants actually cared about the quality of their food. It's sad. The only better place is china town Manhattan.
