About New Oriental House
New Oriental House is a Chinese restaurant located at 565 E 184th St in the Bronx, New York. While categorized as a Chinese restaurant offering services and goods related to Asian cuisine, recent customer feedback raises significant concerns regarding the quality of its service, food, and ethical practices. Potential local users should carefully consider the following points based on publicly available reviews before deciding to patronize this establishment. You can contact New Oriental House at (718) 563-8888 or their mobile number +1 718-563-8888.
One recurring and serious complaint revolves around the customer service experienced when interacting with New Oriental House. According to one long-time customer, "the woman who answers the phone is very rude." This negative initial point of contact can significantly detract from the overall customer experience, regardless of the quality of the food itself. First impressions are crucial, and a rude phone manner can discourage potential customers from placing an order.
Furthermore, this same reviewer expresses dissatisfaction with the delivery service, stating that "They take forever to delivery the food to you." Extended delivery times can lead to cold or less palatable food upon arrival, significantly impacting customer satisfaction. In today's fast-paced environment, prompt and efficient delivery is often a key expectation for takeout and delivery services.
Perhaps most concerning is the feedback regarding the declining quality of the food. The reviewer, who had been a customer for years, notes that "the food has gotten terrible." This suggests a potential change in ownership, management, or food preparation practices that has negatively impacted the taste and quality of the dishes. Specific issues mentioned include "the chicken tasted old and the fries were soggy." These are significant indicators of poor food quality and can raise concerns about food safety and freshness.
The reviewer's disappointment is palpable, leading them to state, "I haven’t ordered from here in about a year because I refuse to give rude & nasty people my money & also refuse to trust a rude person with my food." This strong sentiment underscores the severity of the negative experiences encountered. The decision to give New Oriental House another chance resulted in further disappointment, with the reviewer concluding, "Terrible mistake. Last time ordering from here." This narrative paints a picture of a restaurant that has significantly declined in the eyes of a former loyal customer.
Adding to these serious concerns is a disturbing account from another individual who witnessed a potentially unsanitary and disrespectful practice. This reviewer states, "I was on my way too work on April 3rd 2025 when I spotted the Asian man that's works at this place dumping their CHINESE RESTAURANT TRASH ON THE SIDEWALK NEAR ST BARNABAS hospital..." This is a grave accusation that raises significant questions about the restaurant's waste disposal practices and its respect for the local community and public health.
The fact that the employee allegedly attempted to retrieve the trash upon being photographed suggests an awareness of wrongdoing. The reviewer's strong reaction, "DONT SET UP SHOP IN MY COMMUNITY AND COLLECT OUR MONEY AND LEAVE OUR COMMUNITY FILTHY. GET A TRASH MAN TOO PICK YOUR TRASH UP," highlights the community's expectation that local businesses will act responsibly and ethically. The intention to report the incident to 311 further underscores the seriousness of this alleged behavior.
Based on these two reviews, there is no positive feedback regarding the environment, services, or features of New Oriental House. The overwhelming sentiment is negative, focusing on rude customer service, slow delivery times, poor food quality, and potentially unsanitary waste disposal practices. There is no mention of any promotional offers or unique selling points that might counterbalance these significant issues.
Given the severity of the accusations and the strong negative experiences reported by customers, local users should exercise extreme caution when considering New Oriental House. The feedback suggests a pattern of disrespectful behavior towards customers and potentially towards the community, coupled with a decline in food quality. Trusting a restaurant with one's food is paramount, and the concerns raised in these reviews may erode that trust significantly.
To summarize the critical points about New Oriental House based on the available information:
- Rude Phone Service: Negative interactions reported during phone orders.
- Slow Delivery Times: Excessive waiting periods for food delivery.
- Terrible Food Quality: Reports of old chicken and soggy fries, indicating a decline over time.
- Potential Unsanitary Practices: Allegations of improper disposal of restaurant trash in the community.
- Loss of Long-Time Customers: Former loyal patrons have ceased ordering due to poor service and food.
- No Positive Feedback: The available reviews are overwhelmingly negative, with no positive aspects mentioned.
In light of this information, it is difficult to recommend New Oriental House to local users at this time. The reported issues concerning customer service, food quality, and community responsibility are serious and should not be taken lightly. Potential customers may want to explore other Chinese restaurants in the Bronx that have received more positive and reliable feedback regarding their food, service, and ethical practices. It is always advisable to prioritize establishments that demonstrate respect for their customers and the community they serve.
Local users who are considering ordering from New Oriental House despite these warnings may want to proceed with extreme caution and perhaps start with a small order to assess the current quality for themselves. However, the strong negative sentiments expressed in the available reviews should serve as a significant red flag. It would be prudent to seek alternative options for Chinese cuisine in the Bronx that have a more positive and trustworthy reputation.

The woman who answers the phone is very rude. They take forever to delivery the food to you. Also the food has gotten terrible. I have been ordering from here for years & somewhere along the way the service started to go downhill. Probably different owners or something. Anyway, the chicken tasted old and the fries were soggy. I haven’t ordered from here in about a year because I refuse to give rude & nasty people my money & also refuse to trust a rude person with my food. Needless to say I decided to give it another try. Terrible mistake. Last time ordering from here.
I was on my way too work on April 3rd 2025 when I spotted the Asian man that's works at this place dumping their CHINESE RESTAURANT TRASH ON THE SIDEWALK NEAR ST BARNABAS hospital...when he saw me taking pictures he ran back too pick it. DONT SET UP SHOP IN MY COMMUNITY AND COLLECT OUR MONEY AND LEAVE OUR COMMUNITY FILTHY. GET A TRASH MAN TOO PICK YOUR TRASH UP. IM ALSO REPORTING TOO 311..SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING ‼️
I ordered my 4 pieces of chicken wings cut and half with French fries with alot of barbecue sauce all over it and they talking about I order my chicken wings with fried rice when I know what I ordered so they gave me the wrong order and now they don't want to make me another one and they talking about they won't give me my $13.34 cents back that I PA with my card online for my food they are bad service and they talking about next time they not going to serve me and they talking about I got to look at my receipt online and I did it does not show what I ordered it only shows the chicken wings and the 2 liter soda that I got with my order so they better come correct and fix my order right
This food from here gets me sick every time I order the vegetable brown rice and/or broccoli. This place is not satisfying and not clean
I've ordered multiple times delivery to my home, they are usually fast and precise. I ordered from their website which i find very useful as most Chinese restaurants don't have a website. I was satisfied up until recently where my food tasted like dirty dishes. I order white rice with beef and broccoli, my go to, but this time I was disappointed. The beef was either rotten or they let it fall in dirty dish water and still served it. The food is not cheap and I most definitely will not order from here again. This wasn't the first time the food wasn't up to par.
