About New Liu's Chop Suey

Welcome to New Liu's Chop Suey, a Chinese restaurant located at 1620 N School St in Honolulu, Hawaii. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, New Liu's Chop Suey appears to cater to budget-conscious local users, particularly noted for its very cheap prices for mini plates and generous serving sizes relative to the cost. While specific details about the restaurant's ambiance are limited, the focus on affordability and portion size suggests a casual and value-oriented establishment.

Based on the limited customer feedback available, the environment of New Liu's Chop Suey is not extensively described. The mention of mini plates implies a straightforward setting where the emphasis is on the food and its value rather than elaborate decor. It is likely a local eatery catering to those seeking an affordable meal without the expectation of a formal dining atmosphere. The lack of information about the dining area suggests that it might be primarily geared towards quick service and potentially takeout, although dine-in service is also a possibility given the nature of most restaurants.

In terms of services, New Liu's Chop Suey likely offers both takeout and dine-in options, consistent with the standard operations of a Chinese restaurant. The review mentioning placing an order implies the availability of a menu for customers to choose from, whether for consumption on-site or to take away. The focus on "mini plates" suggests a menu structure that includes smaller, more affordable options alongside potentially larger servings. To confirm the availability of delivery services or to place a phone order for pickup, local users can contact the restaurant directly at (808) 841-8668 or +1 808-841-8668.

A primary feature of New Liu's Chop Suey, according to one customer review, is its affordability, particularly the "very cheap" prices for their mini plates. This is a significant draw for customers looking for budget-friendly meal options in Honolulu. Furthermore, the reviewer noted that the serving size for these mini plates is "a lot," indicating that customers can expect good value for their money in terms of quantity. This combination of low prices and generous portions for the mini plates is a key characteristic that might appeal to students, individuals on a tight budget, or anyone looking for a substantial meal at a low cost.

However, the limited feedback also includes a serious concern regarding food quality and hygiene. One reviewer recounted finding a worm in their seaweed soup broth, attributing it to potentially inadequately rinsed cabbages. This is a significant issue that raises concerns about the restaurant's food preparation and hygiene practices. The reviewer urged the restaurant to pay more attention to their job, highlighting the potential health risks associated with such findings. This negative feedback is crucial for potential customers to consider when evaluating New Liu's Chop Suey.

The stark contrast between the positive feedback about pricing and portion sizes and the negative feedback about finding a worm in the food suggests a potential inconsistency in the restaurant's standards. While the affordability and generous servings of the mini plates might be attractive, the serious hygiene concern raised by another customer cannot be ignored. Potential local users will need to weigh these factors when considering New Liu's Chop Suey.

Given the limited information available in the reviews, there are no specific details regarding any promotional offers or daily specials at New Liu's Chop Suey. Local users interested in finding out about any current promotions or special menu items are advised to contact the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers. They may be able to inquire about any ongoing deals or popular dishes that are not mentioned in the sparse online feedback.

For local users in Honolulu seeking a very affordable Chinese meal with generous portions, particularly the mini plates, New Liu's Chop Suey might seem like an attractive option based on one customer's experience. However, the serious report of finding a worm in the seaweed soup by another customer raises significant concerns about food safety and hygiene practices at the establishment. Potential customers should be aware of this negative feedback and consider it carefully before deciding to dine at or order from New Liu's Chop Suey. It might be prudent to inquire about the restaurant's food preparation and hygiene protocols if considering this establishment.

In conclusion, New Liu's Chop Suey in Honolulu is a Chinese restaurant that has been noted for its very cheap prices and large servings for its mini plates, offering good value for budget-conscious diners. However, a concerning report of a worm being found in the seaweed soup raises serious questions about food hygiene and preparation standards. Local users should consider both the affordability aspect and the potential food safety issues based on the limited available feedback when making their decision.

The prices for mini plates are very cheap, and the serving is a lot for a mini plate. 👌

We placed an order for the seaweeds soup and found this worm in the broth. They probably didn’t rinse well on the cabbages. Please pay more attention on your job.

The food was pretty good! It had good $5 meals and It felt like Aunty-kine Chinese food not like American fast Chinese food. But... Everything else wasn’t that great. It needs a serious renovation!! There were dirt and food all over the ground. Everything looked like it’s from the 90’s, and not in a good retro kine way. There is a calendar from 2005 and all the tables and chairs are kinda busted and old. It isn’t welcoming place considering there is only one lady in the whole restaurant besides the cooks, if there’s more than one person in the kitchen. The music playing was obviously connected to a phone because you could hear the keyboard clicks. It felt super geto and wasn’t a great experience. The plates and utensils didn’t seem the cleanest. The door was hard to open. I’ve been there twice and I feel like my experience got worse the second time. Also, the food was pretty good but some parts were a little bit cold and the rice looked kinda grouse. The list goes on... In conclusion, I recommend the owner to renovate it so it’s actually comparable to Panda Express. If you’re looking for great Fast food Chinese food place or a non-hole in the wall-looking and feeling experience and going to Kam Shopping Center then definitely go to Panda Express!!!!! Owner please don’t be offended and please listen to my opinion and renovate it. If you, The OWNER, need any ideas on how to make it better please email zekeybum@gmail.com or call a renovation company or a carpenter or decorator or architect or something. Thank you.
