As a Chinese restaurant in the Waynesburg area, New Lam's Garden operates within the platform category of "Chinese Restaurant," signifying its specialization in providing authentic and adapted Chinese cuisine. This category encompasses establishments that offer a variety of dishes rooted in Chinese culinary traditions, often including regional specialties and popular favorites. New Lam's Garden strives to deliver a taste of China to the local community.
Based on recent customer feedback, New Lam's Garden has introduced a buffet setup, offering diners an all-you-can-eat experience. The dining room is reported to be of a nice size, suggesting ample space for customers to enjoy their meals comfortably. It appears that the restaurant is continuously making improvements, indicating a commitment to enhancing the overall dining experience for their patrons.
While one customer noted that the food might not be the absolute best they've had at a Chinese buffet, they still considered it to be good and expressed their intention to dine at New Lam's Garden again. This suggests a satisfactory level of food quality that meets the expectations of many diners in the area. The pricing was mentioned as being slightly on the higher side, which is something to consider when planning your visit.
However, another customer shared some specific points of feedback regarding changes to some of their long-standing favorite dishes. They expressed disappointment in the altered recipes for the fried rice and crab rangoon, noting that while the new versions were not bad, they preferred the original recipes that had been a highlight for them over the past decades. This highlights the sentimental value some customers place on familiar dishes and the impact of recipe changes.
The same customer also observed that the restaurant was quite busy during their visit, which led to delays in replenishing popular food items on the buffet. This is a common challenge for busy establishments, and it's worth noting that the demand for certain dishes might lead to temporary unavailability. Additionally, they mentioned the removal of homemade duck sauce from the tables, requiring customers to specifically ask for it. While the customer still found the duck sauce to be "phenomenal," the change in its availability is a notable aspect of the current service.
Furthermore, this review pointed out that a significant portion of the buffet offerings appeared to be seasoned primarily with salt and pepper, with specific mentions of salt and pepper chicken, shrimp, and potatoes. This might indicate a less diverse range of flavor profiles in some of the dishes. The salad bar area was described as having only two small tables, suggesting a limited selection and space for salad items.
Another observation was that some of the dishes on the buffet were not hot enough, which can affect the overall enjoyment and perceived quality of the food. Finally, the customer mentioned a price of $16 per plate for the buffet and felt that the variety offered did not quite justify the cost, leading them to conclude that they would likely order individual meals of known favorites on future visits.
In summary, New Lam's Garden in Waynesburg, PA, presents itself as a local Chinese restaurant offering both a buffet and a la carte options. The environment includes a reasonably sized dining area, and the restaurant appears to be actively working on improvements. While some customers have expressed satisfaction with the food and overall experience, others have noted changes in familiar recipes, potential issues with buffet replenishment during busy times, alterations in condiment availability, and concerns about the variety and temperature of some buffet items relative to the price. For local users seeking a Chinese dining experience, New Lam's Garden provides a convenient option, but it's advisable to consider the recent feedback when making your dining choices. If you have specific preferences for certain dishes, it might be prudent to inquire about their current preparation methods before ordering. Ultimately, New Lam's Garden aims to serve the Waynesburg community with a taste of Chinese cuisine, and your individual experience may vary.

Extremely disappointed with the new Buffet there. I bragged for the last decades ,about how good their specific recipe for fried rice is. They've changed it and their crab rangoon . They're not bad . They're just different and I like the original . They was very busy . The food that was popular was not coming out quick enough . they took the homemade Duck Sauce off the tables. You have to ask for it . That was another thing that is phenomenal and that I feel that they have tweaked that recipe a little bit but it's still very good. If you go there, you definitely need to ask for it ,because it is none like Any other !!! I did not like that most of the food that was on the table was mostly seasoned with salt and pepper there was three dishes that was salt and pepper chicken salt and pepper shrimp and salt and pepper potatoes there'sonly two small salad bar tables so not a lot of room for dishes and some of the dishes was not hot enough. it's $16 a plate not a lot of variety .I just expected a little bit more .so if I order from there again I will probably just order a meal of what I already know I like .
Pleasantly surprised to discover a buffet set up and nice sized dining room here. It seems there are improvements continuously being made. Food was good (maybe not quite the best I've ever had at a Chinese buffet), and price was a little on the higher side, but overall will eat here again.
They have recently remodeled New Lams and it shows. It’s clean inside, spacious and open compared to before. The food was hot and fresh and reasonably priced. The waitress didn’t understand much English and couldn’t answer simple questions pertaining to your order. As in how big is a small medium or large serving? She just kept saying yes small medium or large. So I gave up and ordered medium. The iced tea was weak and the Kung pao chicken I ordered was a little less spicy than I like but that’s just a personal preference I guess. My wife’s fried rice was very good and the egg rolls were crisp and tasty. Definitely a do over.
This was my fav Chinese restaurant growing up in the 90s!! Back home from where I live now in TX and I had to get my usual from Lam’s Garden and it didn’t disappoint!! I loved the ease of online ordering too!
Very polite and friendly. Food is amazing. I highly recommend this place.
