New Kim Tuong Intro
New Kim Tuong is a restaurant located at 83 Chrystie St in New York City. While it may be easily overlooked, customer reviews suggest it is a "true hidden gem" offering a mix of Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine.
The restaurant is described as a "quick grab and go" establishment, making it a convenient option for those looking for a fast meal, potentially avoiding longer lines at nearby eateries. While there are some chairs and tables available, it is important to note that New Kim Tuong does not offer wait service.
Customers have specifically praised dishes such as char siu (Cantonese-style barbecued pork) and thit heo quay (Vietnamese crispy pork belly), describing them as "delicious." For those ordering the rice plate with duck, a reviewer recommends asking for the ginger sauce.
It is advisable for first-time visitors to be aware that the service is fast-paced and there may not be English signs. Despite this, the restaurant is appreciated for its quick service and tasty food.

It’s easy to pass by this place and not give it a chance, but this is a true hidden gem. We ordered char siu and thit heo quay (crispy pork belly in Vietnamese) and it was delicious. This place is a quick grab and go and it sure beats standing in a long line at the spot next door. There are some chairs and tables to eat your food, but there is no wait service. Will come back!
Know before you go cuz it moves fast and there's no signs in english. Awesome for a quick bite. Ask for the ginger sauce on your duck if you're getting the rice plate.
I had the three meat combo (duck, chicken and pork) over rice with cabbages, and it was the perfect lunch! Not to mention at the unbeatable price $10.50. Cash only.
Was quoted $8 initially but became $9 because we’re dining in, felt the pricing wasn’t transparent. Char siu was alright tho
Extremely happy to find this low-key spot for chinese BBQ meats. For context, Big Wong and Great NY Noodletown are my go-to spots for chinese BBQ growing up. I got the 2 meats over rice for $8.50. I asked for BBQ pork (Specifically the fatty part... fay cha in canto) and roasted pork (sew yuk in canto). - BBQ pork was tender and I actually got the fatty parts that I asked for. - Roasted pork was good. What blew my mind was how CRISPY the skin was til the last bite. IMO, the best i've had. Shout out to the butcher who didn't finesse this ABC (American-born chinese) with meatless / low quality parts of meat.
