New Island

After being disappointed by our go to Chinese take-out place I searched Google and read some reviews and we gave New Island a try and can say we’re making the switch permanently. My husband had general tso’s chicken which had great flavor, the pork fried rice was also good, my son was happy with his boneless spare ribs, I had the chicken and broccoli, I’m not sure if I wasn’t in the mood for it or if the flavor wasn’t what I’m use to, the chicken was tender but I enjoyed the general tso’s chicken more. The egg rolls were very good too, a bonus was not getting the small packets of duck sauce, instead it was the condiment container that was filled with the better duck sauce.

I recently visited New Island, And I was thoroughly impressed with their approach to customer service, especially regarding gluten sensitivity. From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm and welcoming, eager to assist with any questions I had. What stood out most was their extensive knowledge about cross-contamination and gluten sensitivity. They offered detailed information about ingredients and even provided alternatives when needed, making me feel comfortable and confident in my choices. The quality of customer service is a big reason for my high rating. I needed something to eat ASAP before going into my sleep study. New Island was the closest place. I was hesitant about ordering initially because I saw a few low scoring reviews and unfavorable comments. I called at 8:05 pm and declined to order after I was told delivery would take 30 minutes. Someone from New Island called back and said they could make my food right away and have it to me by 8:20. And that’s exactly what happened. I was also allowed to substitute a bottled water for the egg roll. The food I ordered—shrimp & broccoli w/ garlic sauce—was good as far as that typical Chinese takeout dish goes. But next time, if in the vicinity of New Island again, I will do myself a favor and not woof down my food in 5 minutes.

Very satisfied with this place. Had spare ribs on the bone with pork fried rice. The meal came with a free hot and sour soup. The rice was amazing, mixed with egg and vegies (all other places charge extra for egg). The ribs were full sized and plump. All for $10.50. Very satisfied with the service (very friendly front counter), the food tasted great and the value was amazing. Wish we had places like these closer to NYC.

Always on time food is good I’ve had general Cho’s chicken very good, pork fried rice good, chicken broccoli good, beef broccoli good, spare ribs very good . Oh and chicken wings ok,, That’s all I had here so far. As far as Chinese food there good take out only to small to sit……..
