About New House of Hunan
New House of Hunan is a Chinese Restaurant situated at 502 Main St, Ford City, PA 16226, USA. As a local Chinese eatery, New House of Hunan aims to provide the community with a variety of Chinese dishes, potentially with a focus on Hunan cuisine, given its name. Customers can contact the restaurant at (724) 763-3312 or +1 724-763-3312 to place orders for pickup, and they also offer seating for dine-in customers. Based on recent customer feedback, experiences appear to be mixed, with some praising the restaurant while others express significant disappointment.
One customer, who seems to have a discerning palate and experience with diverse Asian cuisines from areas like Monroeville, expressed a considerable letdown with their meal from New House of Hunan. While they found the egg drop soup and egg rolls to be "decent," they noted that the soup was something they could easily prepare at home. The most significant dissatisfaction stemmed from the beef and shrimp dish, which they expected to be in a savory brown sauce but found to be bland and dry. The most concerning aspect for this reviewer was the appearance of the beef, which they described as being dyed a "fire engine red," questioning the reason and method behind such a presentation. This negative experience led the customer to feel that their attempt to support a local business was a waste of money and suggested that the lack of access to "decent Chinese food" in the area might contribute to negative perceptions of the cuisine.
In contrast, another customer had a much more positive experience, stating that New House of Hunan is their "favorite Chinese place in the area." They specifically praised the "great portions" and "reasonable prices," indicating good value for money. This reviewer also found the food to be "far better" than other Chinese restaurants they had frequented when living closer to the city in Penn Hills, suggesting a higher quality compared to some alternatives. Furthermore, they highlighted the kindness of the employees, indicating a positive customer service experience, at least for pickup orders, which is their preferred method. This customer also mentioned that seating is available at the restaurant, although they prefer to eat at home.
Considering these contrasting reviews, it's evident that the experience at New House of Hunan can vary. One customer found the food lacking in flavor and visually unappealing, while another praised the taste and value. The difference in these opinions might be attributed to individual preferences, specific dishes ordered, or inconsistencies in food preparation. The positive reviewer's comparison to other restaurants and mention of kind employees suggests that New House of Hunan has the potential to provide a satisfactory dining experience.
The features of New House of Hunan, based on these reviews, include offering a menu with standard Chinese dishes, with egg drop soup, egg rolls, and a beef and shrimp dish being specifically mentioned. The restaurant provides both takeout (pickup) and dine-in options, catering to different customer preferences. The portion sizes are described as "great" by one reviewer, suggesting that customers generally receive a substantial amount of food for their money. The pricing is also noted as "reasonable," indicating that the restaurant aims to be affordable for the local community. A point of potential concern, however, is the preparation and presentation of certain dishes, such as the beef and shrimp, which one customer found dry and visually off-putting due to the red coloring of the beef.
Regarding the environment of New House of Hunan, the reviews offer limited insight. One customer mentioned that seating is available, implying a physical dining space. However, there are no descriptions of the restaurant's decor, cleanliness, or overall atmosphere. The positive reviewer's preference for pickup suggests that while dine-in is an option, they may find it more convenient or preferable to eat at home. Without further information, it is difficult to provide a detailed account of the dining environment at New House of Hunan.
In terms of services, New House of Hunan offers both takeout (pickup) and dine-in. Customers can place orders over the phone. While one reviewer specifically mentioned a preference for pickup, the availability of seating indicates that dine-in service is also provided. There is no mention of delivery services in the provided reviews, so local users interested in this option may need to inquire directly with the restaurant. The positive feedback about the kindness of the employees suggests that the customer service during order placement and pickup is generally good.
No specific promotional information is mentioned in the provided reviews. Customers interested in any special offers, discounts, or new menu items at New House of Hunan should contact the restaurant directly at the provided phone numbers. It is common for local restaurants to have daily specials or promotions that might not be reflected in general customer reviews.
In conclusion, New House of Hunan in Ford City, PA, presents a mixed picture based on recent customer feedback. While one reviewer found significant issues with the flavor and presentation of a specific dish, another praised the generous portions, reasonable prices, and kind service. Local users considering New House of Hunan might want to take these contrasting experiences into account. Those looking for a potentially budget-friendly option with large portions and friendly service for takeout or dine-in may find it appealing. However, it might be prudent to inquire about the preparation and appearance of specific dishes, especially if they have particular preferences or concerns based on the negative review. As with any restaurant, individual experiences can vary, and further exploration of the menu and perhaps trying some of the more positively mentioned items like the egg drop soup and egg rolls could help local users form their own opinion of New House of Hunan.

Customer Reviews
It is extremely hard to find decent cuisine around here. It's literally all tailored for people who don't eat any spices. I am used to places like China Palace in Monroeville for Chinese food, Everyday Noodles for pork soup dumplings, Maiku for Pho, Salem's for goat curry, Mr Egg for hot pot, Andy's in Wholey's for sushi and I love going to the Asian market, myself. I love supporting small business, so I figured I would try. The egg drop soup and egg rolls were decent, but honestly I could make egg drop soup at home myself. The most disappointing part of my meal was my beef and shrimp. I was expecting it to be in a brown, savory sauce. Nope. It had barely any flavor, and was dry. Super unappetizing. The most disturbing part was that the beef looks like it was dyed fire engine red. What? Why?! How?! Just whyyy?? I wasted my money trying to support local business. With all due respect, if people around here think Chinese food is gross, it's pretty much because they don't actually have access to decent Chinese food. I think I'll just learn to make my own. A trip down to Many More Asian Market would have been more worth my time and money.
Favorite Chinese place in the area. The portions are great and the prices are reasonable. Far better food than the places we used to go to when we lived closer to the city in Penn Hills. And the employees have always been very kind to us. We always call in for a pickup order - they have seating, we just prefer to eat at home.
Kind and friendly service. Best Chinese I've had in the area in a while.
It's a small Chinese restaurant in a small town. I am satisfied for what I get for what I pay. A lot of people have unrealistic expectations comparing this place to a place in the city. Always happy with service!
Small, but mighty! This is really good food. It's a small buffet, but it doesn't need to be big because everything you eat is GREAT! Another reviewer mentioned the crab rangoon--they are small and so much easier to eat than the large ones. I highly recommend!
