One enthusiastic customer proclaimed New Happy Fortune as their "new fave Chinese takeout spot in Portland," highlighting several key aspects that contribute to its appeal. The restaurant is described as an "awesome, unassuming" place that surprises patrons with the sheer size of its portions relative to its great prices. This reviewer opted for the "U Pick" meal, a customizable option featuring one entree and three sides, all for a reasonable $15.95. Their selection included the highly recommended Mandarin chicken as the entree, accompanied by four crab puffs, orange chicken, and steamed rice. The sheer volume of food was remarkable, with the platter being described as "basically the size" of the reviewer's head and the portions "piled high." This substantial meal was even suggested as being suitable for sharing between two, or possibly even three people, emphasizing the exceptional value offered.

The practicality and convenience of New Happy Fortune for local residents and workers are also evident. The reviewer mentioned stopping by for lunch after working at a nearby high school and ended up with enough food to take home a full to-go box, which would serve as dinner later. This highlights the generous portions' ability to cater to multiple meals, further enhancing the restaurant's affordability.

The quality of the food itself also receives high praise. They were particularly impressed with the lemon chicken, describing it as "perfect, crispy and flavorful." Despite being unable to upload a video showcasing the steam rising from the freshly prepared dish, they shared a photo as evidence of its appealing quality. The reviewer concluded with a heartfelt "Thanks for being here New Happy," indicating a strong appreciation for the restaurant's consistent delivery of enjoyable food.

Based on these two recent and highly positive reviews, New Happy Fortune | Chinese Restaurant appears to excel in providing a combination of generous portions, affordable prices, and tasty, freshly prepared Chinese cuisine. I think I've found my new fave Chinese takeout spot in Portland! New Happy Fortune is an awesome, unassuming, 'hole-in-the-wall' restaurant that has HUGE portions for great prices. I had the "U Pick" 1 entree + 3 sides meal. With Mandarin chicken as my entree, and my sides: 4 crab puffs, orange chicken, and steamed rice (All for $15.95) The platter it was served on was basically the size of my head, and the portions were piled high! It is a great meal to split with 2, maybe 3 people. I stopped by for my lunch after working at the high school nearby and had to take home a full to-go box (gonna be my dinner for later!) The chicken was super crispy and flavorful, and I highly recommend trying the Mandarin chicken! I'm definitely coming back again!

Fast service, fresh+delicious, one of the things that can turn a bad day around. Google will not let me post the video of steam rising up from my lemon chicken, but here is a photo. It was perfect, crispy and flavorful. Thanks for being here New Happy.

I recently ordered takeout from New Happy Fortune, and while I don't usually like to leave negative reviews, this was, unfortunately, one of the worst takeout experiences I’ve had. I ordered some of my kids' usual favorite Chinese dishes—broccoli beef, spring rolls, and pork fried rice—but none of them were up to par. The broccoli was barely cooked, and the sauce was both overly sweet and too salty. The pork fried rice was dry and tasted like it had been reheated from days before. As for the spring rolls, they arrived soggy and completely fell apart—they definitely didn’t travel well. I also tried the orange chicken and General Tso's chicken. Both were incredibly sweet, though the General Tso's at least had a bit of spice to cut through the sweetness. However, both chicken dishes were disappointingly dry. The fried shrimp was not properly cleaned, and while that usually doesn’t bother me, these were particularly bad. Overall, this was far from the quality of Chinese takeout I’m used to in Portland. I was hoping for a better experience, but sadly, New Happy Fortune fell short in almost every way.

Favorite place ever been going here at least 10 years. I just wish I could dine in since it’s so far from my house. Do I need to call friday or saturday before then? I would love to dine in this Friday with my daughter and boyfriend. Thank you!
