About New Garden M
Welcome to New Garden M, a Chinese restaurant located in Rowland Heights, California, offering a unique culinary experience that blends the flavors of both Chinese and Korean cuisines. For over two decades, this establishment has been a local favorite, known for its distinctive approach to Chinese-Korean dishes. Situated at 18740 Colima Rd, Rowland Heights, CA 91748, USA, New Garden M has recently undergone a change in ownership and a remodeling, promising an updated atmosphere while maintaining the beloved taste of its food.
According to long-time patrons, New Garden M has historically been a go-to spot for those seeking a fusion of Chinese and Korean culinary traditions. This blend often results in dishes that incorporate elements and flavors from both cultures, creating a unique and satisfying dining experience. The recent change in ownership raised concerns among loyal customers about potential alterations in food quality. However, initial feedback suggests that the delicious taste that patrons have come to expect has been preserved, which is a significant reassurance for the local community.
One notable aspect of New Garden M's recent transition is the remodeling of the restaurant. This suggests an effort to create a more appealing and comfortable dining environment for guests. Combined with reports of "better service" and a "cleaner atmosphere" under the new management, it appears that New Garden M is striving to enhance the overall dining experience beyond just the food itself. This commitment to improving both the ambiance and service is likely to be well-received by both long-time customers and new visitors.
A key feature of New Garden M, as highlighted by customer reviews, is its take on classic Chinese-Korean dishes such as jajjangmyun (black bean noodles), tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), and mapo tofu (spicy silken tofu). One reviewer with experience trying these dishes at various other establishments noted that New Garden M's versions are "super flavorful and distinct." This suggests that the restaurant has developed its own unique recipes or preparation methods that set its offerings apart from the competition, making it a noteworthy destination for these particular dishes.
The recent change in management has also been accompanied by a new menu, although specific details about the new offerings are not provided in the reviews. The positive feedback regarding the service and staff under the new management indicates a focus on providing a pleasant and efficient dining experience. This is crucial for building customer loyalty and attracting new patrons to the remodeled restaurant.
However, a more recent update from a customer who frequently orders takeout (at least twice a month) provides a note of caution regarding consistency in food quality, particularly during busy periods. On a specific occasion (Christmas Day 2024), an order of jjajangmyun was reported to have overcooked and soggy noodles, along with hard beef. The customer acknowledged the holiday rush as a potential factor but emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency in food preparation. While expressing disappointment with this particular experience, the reviewer maintained a 3-star rating based on previous positive experiences and indicated a willingness to provide further updates in the future, hoping for improvement.
This feedback highlights a potential challenge for New Garden M: ensuring consistent food quality even during peak times. Maintaining the standards that long-time customers have appreciated will be crucial for sustaining its reputation. The reviewer's loyalty and willingness to give the restaurant another chance suggest that the past positive experiences have created a strong foundation of goodwill.
Despite this concern about consistency during busy periods, the overall sentiment from the available reviews is positive, particularly regarding the flavorful and distinct nature of New Garden M's signature dishes and the improvements in service and atmosphere under the new management. For local users in Rowland Heights and surrounding areas, New Garden M presents an opportunity to enjoy a unique blend of Chinese and Korean cuisines in a newly remodeled and cleaner environment, with attentive service.

I’ve come to this restaurant for over 20+ years. It was always a go to Chinese-Korean place. Recently the ownership changed and they remodeled but I was scared the food might taste different. Thank God the food still tastes delicious! Now with better service and cleaner atmosphere, we still come here often! 12/25/2024 An update: We order to-go at least twice a month here, and I've been noticing the food quality changes whenever they are busy. Today I ordered a to-go of jjajangmyun plate. I understand the fact that it was busy due to the holiday, but the noodles were way overcooked and soggy.. the beef was way too hard.. please... be consistent.. Although I wanted to give one star for today's food, I'm keeping a 3 star for the good experience I had previously. I will post another update in the near future hoping for better experience.
I’ve had the same types of dishes (jajjangmyun, tangsuyuk, mapo tofu) at many other chinese/korean places and new garden’s take on these dishes is super flavorful and distinct. I heard this place is under new management and a new menu, and I have to say the service and staff was awesome and the food was delicious. Will definitely be back.
spacious and comfy chinese-style tea house interior. food were kinda korean style btw. the fried meat with sweet dipping sauce in the photos was the must-try of every table, big portion, and chewy.
We went here for a celebration party and had a 12 course banquet. The food portions were generous and we had a nice variety of food. The atmosphere was okay but the restaurant could use a deep cleaning and some updating. The lazy Susan was sticky and definitely needed to be cleaned or replaced. When the server was dishing out the soup, he spilled a lot of it on the lazy Susan and didn't bother cleaning up liquid so the dishes that came out were sitting on top of the soup liquid. I liked the noodles, black bean fish, orange chicken, beef dish, broccoli, Mabo tofu and the bread. The pork dish was okay but I wasn't that fond of the sauce. For dessert they served orange slices and caramelized sweet potato which was very tasty. We had soup, rice, noodles, chicken, fish, pork, broccoli, Kim chi, green beans, beef dish, scallops with asparagus, Mabo tofu and Chinese bun and dessert. It was a ton of food and there was lots left over at our table. It was a nice and fun celebration.
The restaurant recently changed owners, and my parents said the food is much better these days. They've been going there for 20+ years. We ate there last night, and I was shocked at the generous portions! Great food and friendly service at a very reasonable price!! We ordered hot & sour soup, black bean fish, and mapo tofu for four hungry adults, and we went home with ample leftovers. Meals come with complimentary white rice and steamed knotted rolls. We also received fresh orange slices with sweet potato fritters on the house. No alcohol yet, but they said they should receive their liquor license any day...
