About New Fuzhou Style

New Fuzhou Style is a Chinese restaurant located at 135-19 40th Rd in Flushing, New York City. As a member of the Chinese Restaurant category, New Fuzhou Style specializes in bringing the flavors of Fuzhou cuisine to the local community. They can be contacted at (718) 762-1955 or +1 718-762-1955.

Based on the available customer reviews, New Fuzhou Style appears to be an established eatery with a history in the area. One reviewer highlights the affordability of certain menu items, specifically mentioning wonton soup, hor fun soup, and peanut noodles available for $10 for the entire order. They praised the soups, giving them a rating of 9/10 for their value. However, they noted that the peanut noodles were prepared differently from the traditional style found in other Fuzhou establishments in Chinatown or Fuzhou itself, describing them as darker and stickier.

Despite the non-traditional preparation of the peanut noodles, the same reviewer gave the restaurant an overall rating of 4/5, primarily due to the price point, suggesting that the affordability makes it a worthwhile option. Their concluding remark, "It’s hard to go wrong here," indicates a generally positive sentiment despite the noted deviation from traditional peanut noodle preparation.

Another reviewer provides a more critical perspective, particularly regarding the restaurant's environment. They describe it as having a "deviant overall environment," noting the presence of people smoking upon entry. While they heard that the atmosphere resembled stores in Fuzhou, this did not change their negative view of the environmental bias. This suggests that the ambiance might not appeal to all customers, particularly those sensitive to smoking or expecting a more conventional restaurant setting.

Despite the environmental concerns, this reviewer did recommend a specific dish: the fried frog cubes. They praised the dish for its crispy skin and the significant amount of meat inside when served fresh. This suggests that New Fuzhou Style might have some standout dishes that are worth trying.

The same reviewer also commented on the snails, another item they sampled. They noted that many of the snails were not pre-opened, requiring diners to extract the meat themselves using a toothpick, which they found to be quite troublesome. This feedback indicates a potential inconsistency in the preparation or serving of certain dishes.

The reviewer concluded by stating that other dishes were "more average," suggesting that while some items like the fried frog cubes might be noteworthy, the overall culinary experience could be inconsistent. This implies that while there might be gems on the menu, other offerings might not be as impressive.

Considering these reviews, New Fuzhou Style presents itself as a Chinese restaurant specializing in Fuzhou cuisine, with a focus on affordability, particularly for their soups and certain noodle dishes. The peanut noodles, while budget-friendly, might not adhere to traditional Fuzhou preparations. A standout dish appears to be the fried frog cubes, praised for their texture and meatiness. However, the environment of the restaurant seems to be a point of concern for at least one reviewer, citing the presence of smoking. Additionally, the preparation of some dishes, like the snails, might require extra effort from the diner.

For local users in Flushing seeking affordable Fuzhou cuisine, especially soups and potentially the fried frog cubes, New Fuzhou Style might be worth considering. However, potential customers should be aware of the reported environmental issues and the non-traditional preparation of some dishes like the peanut noodles. The restaurant's long-standing presence in the area suggests a loyal customer base, likely drawn to the price and perhaps specific signature dishes.

To gain a more comprehensive understanding of New Fuzhou Style's offerings and the current state of their environment, local users might consider visiting the restaurant at 135-19 40th Rd, Flushing, NY 11354. Inquiring about their specialties, observing the dining environment firsthand, and perhaps trying the recommended fried frog cubes could provide a more informed perspective. While the reviews offer some insights, personal experience can often provide the most accurate assessment.

In conclusion, New Fuzhou Style is a Chinese restaurant in Flushing, NY, specializing in Fuzhou cuisine with a reputation for affordability, particularly regarding their soups. While some dishes like the peanut noodles might not be traditionally prepared, the fried frog cubes appear to be a highlight. However, potential customers should be aware of reports concerning the restaurant's environment, including the presence of smoking. For those prioritizing budget-friendly Fuzhou flavors and willing to overlook potential environmental drawbacks, New Fuzhou Style might offer a unique dining experience.

This place has been around forever. Wonton soup, hor fun soup and peanut noodles $10 for the whole order. Great soups 9/10 for the price Peanut noodles were a bit on the darker, sticky side which is not traditional like I how other FJ places make it in Chinatown or in fuzhou. 4/5 because of the price. It’s hard to go wrong here.

This is a store with a deviant overall environment. There were people smoking as soon as I walked in, but I heard it looked like the store in Fuzhou. However, it doesn't change my view of environmental bias. The most recommended dish should be the fried frog cubes. When they are first served, the skin is very crispy and there is quite a lot of meat inside. As for the snails, many of them are not clamped open, so you can only pick them out yourself with a toothpick, which is quite troublesome. Other dishes are more average.

It's cheap and the taste is okay, but the fried noodles are full of sand. I told the person who answered the phone that there was still sand the second time, and then I blamed it on Lao Mo. He said that the vegetables were not washed. It is recommended not to add cabbage when ordering, otherwise you will win the lottery at any time.

The environment is relatively poor, so I usually order takeout. The taste is quite authentic.
