While specific details about the décor and ambiance are limited, the description suggests a casual and efficient setting where the emphasis is on the food and service rather than elaborate surroundings. This type of establishment often prioritizes quick service and value for money, making it a popular choice for those seeking a satisfying and affordable meal. The mention of it being a "hole in the wall" can also imply a sense of authenticity and a focus on traditional flavors that locals appreciate. A notable service mentioned is the provision of "free tea," a common and appreciated offering in many Chinese restaurants that adds to the overall dining experience. It is important to note a specific payment policy: the restaurant has a $20 minimum for credit card purchases, meaning customers buying something less than $20 are advised to bring cash. For orders meeting or exceeding this amount, credit card payments are accepted. A significant feature of New Fortune Restaurant is the consistently praised generous portion sizes. One reviewer who ordered the "HK noodles with pork chops" for $13 (including tax) found the serving so large that they were unable to finish it for lunch and had to take the rest for dinner. The reviewer explicitly stated it was "totally worth it" and "definitely for sharing," emphasizing the abundance of food provided. Generous portions. Bring cash if you're buying something less than $20 or order something worth $20 because that's their minimum for credit cards. I got the HK noodles with pork chops for $13 (w/tax) and was not able to finish it for lunch and had to finish for dinner. Totally worth it. It's definitely for sharing and absolutely delicious typical hole in the wall Chinese fast food.
Amazing food and friendly staff. Affordable prices too. Large menu selection and you get free tea. I recommend the BBQ stir fry rice. 10/10
Mama’s and papa’s Chinese comfort food. Had Singapore style noodles and eggplant tofu with rice. Complimentary tea on the house. Be aware, there’s a fee for using card so bring cash.
Another hidden gem for chinese food in SF. The place was a little bit small but the services was fast. A simple beef with brocoli or bok choy were recommended. You may also choose cho fun as a replacement of rice.
Oh my god, this place has such good pan fried noodles. The food tasted just like home, Chinese food cooked by my grandma. I had been craving pan fried noodles for so long and this restaurant knocks it out of the park! Their chow fun wasn’t good, it was more bland, so maybe they can add more seasonings into it. But I think this place has really good food, the service is just lacking. It took us much longer to get out of here than we hoped because the woman working seemed to be spread too thin and they barely had anyone serving tables.
