About New city

New city is a Chinese restaurant located at 236 Knickerbocker Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237, USA. They can be contacted at (718) 417-8333 or +1 718-417-8333 for orders and inquiries.

Based on customer reviews, New city offers alright and affordable Chinese food for the local area. One customer specifically praised the boneless rib tips with French fries, noting that the order was cooked to perfection. They found the fries to be crispy and fresh, even with ketchup, and the rib meat to be juicy with a good amount of sauce. The person who took the order was described as nice.

Another reviewer found most of the dishes to be pretty standard but highlighted the fried rice as being quite good. They noted that the food tended to be rather bland on its own, often requiring soy sauce. A point of inconvenience mentioned is that New city operates as a cash-only establishment. One customer had to place their order through Uber Eats while physically at the restaurant due to this policy.

The egg roll was mentioned by one reviewer as being smaller than expected but also noted as not being greasy, which was appreciated. Overall, New city seems to be a decent, affordable option for Chinese food in the neighborhood, with specific dishes like the boneless rib tips and fried rice receiving positive feedback. However, the cash-only policy and the potential need for additional seasoning might be factors for local users to consider.

I ordered the boneless rib tips with French fries. My order was cooked to perfection! I recently spent a few months abroad and I was missing NYC Chinese food, this definitely fulfilled my craving. The fries were crispy and fresh, even after being dressed in ketchup. The rib meat was juicy, not too much fat and lots of meat coated in the perfect amount of sauce. Unfortunately they only accept cash so I ordered with Uber eats while I was in the restaurant. The guy who took my order was nice. The egg roll I ordered was smaller than I expected but also not greasy at all which was nice.

Alright and affordable Chinese food for the area. They are cash only which can cause some inconvenience. Most of the dishes i got were pretty standard but the fried rice was pretty good. Everything needed soy sauce because it was rather bland on its own. An alright option to have around the corner but I'd rather order from other places in the neighborhood.

I had been looking forward to trying New City for a while based on its good press. When I arrived, I was quite surprised - it's like many other hole in the wall Chinese places - not some place I would ever sit to eat. The employees were nice. The food was a solid meh! Boneless spare ribs were good. General Tso's chicken was flavorless & the rice was dreadful (not sure how you mess up rice). So ... I'm glad I went here. Totally a one & done place - absolutely no reason to return.

Ordered takeout and got the general tsos tofu. A lot of places don't make it great or even have it, but it was done nicely here. Will prob be my go to place for Chinese in the neighborhood.

I typically get delivery or takeout, and it is ALWAYS excellent. The food is fresh, well prepared, reasonably priced. Their delivery is remarkably fast. The food is really tasty. They're awesome people as well. Once--years ago, I ordered via GrubHub and paid with a card. When it was delivered I was talking on the phone. Without thinking, I looked at the receipt, paid the delivery guy the total--in cash. Multitasking (and hungry), I closed the door, all the while continuing my conversation, without a clue. It wasn't even ten minutes before my buzzer rang again. It was the owner/manager, explaining what had happened, and kindly refunding my overpayment. Wow. I was already a loyal customer, simply for the reliably good food. Fan forever now! ❤️
