About New China Sea

New China Sea is a Chinese Restaurant located at 15 N Main St, Marlborough, CT 06447, USA. Customer reviews present a mixed picture of the dining experience here. One reviewer had a notably negative experience, describing the food as a "joke" and "pretty bad." Specific issues mentioned include cold and dry pork fried rice, sesame chicken served in the same container, and a Kung Pao dish made with peanuts instead of the traditional cashew nuts. The fried wontons were also criticized for being soggy, having thick skin, and containing pork instead of shrimp. This reviewer, with experience in Americanized Chinese food, found the taste to be subpar.

Another reviewer expressed confusion regarding the menu description of "chow mein," which was stated to come with vegetables instead of noodles, contrary to the meaning of "mein" (noodles) in Chinese. This discrepancy in menu interpretation was a point of concern for a customer with a background in Hong Kong cuisine.

On a more positive note, one customer had a completely different experience, praising New China Sea as "the most hygienic Chinese restaurant I have ever seen." This reviewer also found the food to be fresh and the service attitude to be very good, indicating a positive experience and a willingness to return. This stark contrast in reviews suggests a potential inconsistency in food quality or differing customer expectations.

Given these varying opinions, potential customers may want to consider the feedback before deciding to order from New China Sea. The restaurant can be contacted at (860) 295-1381 or +1 860-295-1381 for inquiries. Information regarding the restaurant's environment or any current promotions is not available in these reviews.

Came home late one evening during the holidays while staying with the in-laws. This place was the only thing that was open at that time, and I was also quite curious to see what Chinese food was like. Oh boy... what a joke - I could only laugh. Confused to see on the menu "chow mein" comes with rice, guy replied "chow mein no noodles! chow mein comes with vegetables." What what? so the mein, which means, noodles, as said also in Chinese "noodles" comes with no noodles?? "Chow mein comes with vegetables, Cantonese-style." Coming from Hong Kong, I think I'd know what "chow mein" and "Cantonese-noodles" meant - but guess I was wrong. Kung Po has no cashew nuts in them, instead they just give you peanuts. Fried wonton is another farce, nevermind it doesnt come with shrimp, but with pork, it was all soggy when you get them home and the skin was so thick. I've had my fair share of Americanized Chinese food but this was all and all pretty bad. I can accept food substitute... But this just doesn't taste even good. 🙄🤨

The restaurant has good front desk service and a very clean environment. I have bought a lot of Chinese food, but I have never seen one as clean as this one. The food is also very fresh and delicious. I will come again.

I went inside to order, rather than call ahead...as i waited, i watched as they took out containers with pre-cooked food and portioned it into a to-go container and then popped it into their microwave, bagged it up and handed it to me. I suppose that's why it's always ready so quickly?! This was my favorite Chinese food place- the place seems to be clean and they are very friendly, but I'd rather not spend almost $15 (per meal) on, who knows how old, microwaved food.

My favorite place for American-style Chinese food. Coming from NY, I’ve always found it hard to find places in more rural CT to have good takeout and I’m admittedly very picky. But I always enjoy the food I get here. My favorite is chicken and rice soup on a cold day.
