About New China Restaurant
New China Restaurant, located at 203 Winchester Ave #2603 in Martinsburg, West Virginia, is a local Chinese restaurant offering both takeout and dine-in services to the community. They can be contacted by phone at (304) 262-8188 or +1 304-262-8188.
Based on recent customer feedback, the experience at New China Restaurant appears to be significantly negative. One reviewer expressed strong dissatisfaction, questioning the establishment's 4.5-star rating. This customer reported that the meat in their General Tso's chicken with fried rice tasted frozen, old, and excessively fatty, rendering the dish largely inedible. Furthermore, they mentioned that their husband became sick after consuming the peppered steak with beef lo mein ordered. While they found the steamed dumplings and egg rolls to be acceptable, they were described as unremarkable.
Another customer provided an even more critical review, detailing several concerning aspects of their visit. They stated that the restaurant had no heating despite the cold weather. Upon inquiring, they were informed that the restaurant management "doesn't believe in having heat." This reviewer also alleged a lack of hygiene practices, noting the absence of gloves and hair nets among the staff. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant was described as "completely filthy," and the appearance and smell were deemed unpleasant. The shrimp toast was described as old and disgusting. This customer emphatically stated they would never eat at New China Restaurant again and recommended an alternative establishment, Asian Garden, as being "1000× better."
Considering these two recent reviews, potential customers should be aware of significant concerns regarding food quality, hygiene practices, and the restaurant environment. The issues raised about the taste and freshness of the food, particularly the meat, are serious. The reported lack of heating in the restaurant, especially during colder months, would also contribute to an uncomfortable dining experience for patrons choosing to eat on-site.
The allegations of staff not wearing gloves or hair nets while handling food, coupled with the description of the restaurant as "completely filthy," raise serious food safety and hygiene red flags. These are critical aspects for any food establishment, and the reported conditions are deeply concerning.
Given the overwhelmingly negative feedback in these recent reviews, it is challenging to provide a positive description of the environment, services, or features of New China Restaurant based solely on this information. The absence of heating would suggest a potentially uncomfortable environment for dine-in customers during colder weather. The lack of attention to basic hygiene practices, if accurate, would be a significant negative feature.
No information regarding any promotional offers or special features of New China Restaurant is available in the provided text. Typically, Chinese restaurants might offer lunch specials, combination platters, or discounts for takeout orders. However, in light of the serious concerns raised by the customer reviews, any potential promotions would likely be overshadowed by the issues related to food quality and hygiene.
For local users in Martinsburg, WV, who are considering New China Restaurant, it is strongly recommended that they take the recent customer feedback into serious consideration. The reported issues with food quality, including the taste and freshness of ingredients, and the alleged lack of hygiene and cleanliness are significant concerns that could impact the dining experience and potentially health.
While New China Restaurant offers both takeout and dine-in services, the negative reviews primarily focus on the quality of the food and the state of the restaurant itself. Therefore, regardless of whether a customer intends to dine in or take their food to go, the reported issues are pertinent.
Given the strong negative recommendation for an alternative restaurant (Asian Garden) by one of the reviewers, local users might want to explore other Chinese dining options in the Martinsburg area before considering New China Restaurant. It is always advisable to look at a range of reviews from various sources to get a more comprehensive picture, but the issues highlighted in the provided feedback are serious enough to warrant significant caution.
In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for New China Restaurant at 203 Winchester Ave #2603 in Martinsburg, WV, paint a concerning picture. Reports of poor food quality, including old and poorly prepared meat, a lack of heating in the restaurant, and alleged unhygienic practices among staff and in the environment are significant red flags. Local users seeking a Chinese restaurant in Martinsburg are strongly advised to consider these recent experiences before choosing to dine at or order from New China Restaurant. No positive features or promotional information could be gleaned from the provided negative feedback.

Customer Reviews
I have no idea how this place has 4.5 stars. The meat tasted frozen, old, and was super fatty. I ordered myself general tso's chicken with fried rice and I couldn't even eat much it was so bad. Ordered my husband peppered steak with beef lo mein and he got sick from it. The steamed dumplings and egg rolls were okay but nothing great.
Absolutely no heat in the restaurant. I asked and was told they don't believe in having heat. No gloves or hair nets. The restaurant was completely filthy. The appearance and smell was not good. The shrimp toast was very old and disgusting. I will never eat here again. I recommend Asian Garden in Martinsburg. A 1000× better than New China.
Horrible customer service! Food is very mediocre. Definitely not worth it. Very unhappy with the service is the most important thing and it was very disappointing
I've been ordering from here for the past 20 years. They said 40 to 45 minutes delivery and it was at my house in less then 30 minutes.
I ordered and waited for Spring Rolls, Shrimp Roll, green beans in garlic sauce, small Shrimp Fried Rice. The rice was very old tasting, Spring Rolls I am not sure they just tasted terrible. Green beans were in some type of slime sauce no taste. $21.00 dollars later in the garbage not fit for even my dogs.
