About New China Palace Restaurant

New China Palace Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant situated at 123 Central Ave in Oak Ridge, Tennessee (TN 37830), USA. They can be contacted at (865) 482-3323 or their mobile number +1 865-482-3323. As a Chinese restaurant serving the Oak Ridge area, New China Palace aims to provide a variety of Chinese dishes for the local community.

Customer reviews for New China Palace Restaurant offer a mixed perspective on the dining experience. One first-time visitor reported a generally positive impression, highlighting several specific dishes. They found the egg roll to be particularly noteworthy, describing it as "one of the best I've had." The Hot and Sour soup was considered "decent," and the Cheese wonton and Fried wonton were also rated as "good." However, this reviewer noted that the Beef and Broccoli was "too salty" and the Lo Mein, while having "really good flavor," was "a tad bit too oily" and made with spaghetti noodles instead of the traditional square noodles, though they still enjoyed it. On the service front, this customer described it as "excellent."

Another review provided a more critical assessment of their meal, which included steamed dumplings, sesame chicken with white rice, and General Tso’s chicken with fried rice. Overall, this customer found the meal to be "disappointing" for themselves (regarding the General Tso’s chicken) but "okay" for their wife (who had the Sesame Chicken). The steamed dumplings were also just rated as "okay." The primary issue for this reviewer was the General Tso’s chicken, which they found to be well-breaded but suffering from a poor sauce that lacked taste, spiciness, and sweetness, simply seeming "like it was poured out onto the chicken." While they acknowledged that the staff provided "good service," they concluded that the food was "not worth going to the restaurant."

Based on these two reviews, the food quality at New China Palace Restaurant appears to be inconsistent across different dishes. The egg rolls seem to be a standout item, receiving high praise. Other appetizers like the Cheese and Fried wontons were also well-received. However, main courses varied significantly. The Beef and Broccoli was criticized for being too salty, and the Lo Mein, while flavorful, was oily and used non-traditional noodles. The Sesame Chicken was considered acceptable, but the General Tso’s chicken was a major disappointment due to the lackluster sauce.

Both reviewers commented on the service, and in both cases, it was rated positively, described as "excellent" by one and "good" by the other. This suggests that the staff at New China Palace Restaurant are generally attentive and provide a pleasant service experience.

The reviews do not offer much insight into the environment or ambiance of New China Palace Restaurant. There are no descriptions of the dining area, décor, or overall atmosphere. Therefore, local users will not be able to form an opinion on the restaurant's environment based on this feedback.

The services offered by New China Palace Restaurant are implied through the reviews. The fact that customers ordered and ate at the restaurant suggests dine-in service is available. The mention of specific dishes ordered indicates that they have a menu beyond just buffet options. Takeout service is also likely, as it is common for Chinese restaurants. Delivery service is not explicitly mentioned in these reviews, so local users would need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about this option.

There are no specific features of the restaurant highlighted in these reviews, apart from the quality of the egg rolls and the positive service. The use of spaghetti noodles in the Lo Mein could be considered an unconventional feature, but it was still enjoyed by one reviewer. The inconsistency in the quality of main dishes seems to be a notable characteristic based on the current feedback.

Finally, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local customers interested in knowing about any special offers, discounts, or lunch specials at New China Palace Restaurant would need to contact the restaurant directly or check if they have any online presence where such information might be shared.

For local users in Oak Ridge considering New China Palace Restaurant, it is important to weigh the positive feedback on the egg rolls and service against the mixed reviews of the main dishes. If you are a fan of egg rolls, this might be a place worth trying. However, if you are ordering other items, especially specific dishes like Beef and Broccoli or General Tso’s chicken, the reviews suggest that the quality might be inconsistent. The use of spaghetti noodles in the Lo Mein is also something to be aware of if you have a preference for traditional noodles.

Potential customers might want to consider the following if they are interested in trying New China Palace Restaurant:

  • Ask about specific dishes: If you have a particular dish in mind, you could inquire about how it is prepared and if they have received positive feedback on it recently.
  • Try the egg rolls: Given the positive mention, this might be a good appetizer to start with.
  • Consider takeout for initial orders: This might be a lower-commitment way to sample their food before dining in.

The positive comments about the service suggest that even if the food has some inconsistencies, the staff is likely to be pleasant and helpful. This could contribute to a more positive overall experience.

In conclusion, New China Palace Restaurant in Oak Ridge, TN, offers a Chinese dining experience with some highlights, particularly their egg rolls and service. However, the quality and preparation of other dishes, such as the Beef and Broccoli, Lo Mein, and General Tso’s chicken, have received mixed feedback. Local users should consider these points when deciding whether to dine at New China Palace and might want to focus on dishes that have been positively reviewed or inquire further about their menu options.

First time coming here and I liked it. Their egg roll is one of the best I've had. Hot and sour soup was decent. Cheese wonton and fried wonton was good. Beef and broccoli was too salty. The lomein was good but a tad bit too oily. They used spaghetti noodles instead of the typical square noodles but I still liked it. It had really good flavor. Service was excellent.

We ordered steamed dumplings, sesame chicken with white rice, General Tso’s chicken with fried rice. Overall, the meal was disappointing for me (General Tso’s chicken) and okay for my wife (Sesame Chicken). The dumplings were just okay. The General Tso’s chicken was well breaded but the sauce was not good. The sauce was neither tasty, spicy, no sweetness, and just lacked flavour. The sauce seemed like it was poured out onto the chicken. While the staff did a good service job, the food is not worth going to the restaurant.
