About New China
Welcome to New China, a Chinese restaurant located at 2801 S 6th St in Southern View, Illinois, serving the 62703 area. As part of the Chinese Restaurant category, New China offers a variety of familiar Chinese-American dishes. Potential customers can contact them at (217) 523-3333 or their mobile number +1 217-523-3333 to inquire about their menu and services.
Based on recent customer feedback available online, experiences at New China appear to be somewhat varied. One customer specifically praised a notable feature of their Orange Chicken dish, highlighting the use of "real orange." This suggests a commitment to using fresh ingredients in at least one of their offerings, which can be a significant draw for customers seeking authentic flavors. The reviewer implied that this particular aspect of the Orange Chicken was so appealing that it might outweigh potential inconveniences related to delivery services.
It's important to note that this same reviewer also commented on the broader trend of Chinese restaurants in the area no longer offering their own delivery services, instead relying on third-party platforms like GrubHub and DoorDash. The reviewer expressed dissatisfaction with these third-party delivery companies, indicating that while New China might offer desirable food, the delivery process itself could be a point of frustration for some customers. This is a factor that local users might want to consider when deciding how to obtain their meal from New China.
In contrast to the positive comment about the Orange Chicken, another customer reported a less favorable experience during their first visit to New China. This review raised concerns about the quality and preparation of several dishes. Specifically, the rice was described as "not done," suggesting it may have been undercooked. Furthermore, the chicken in the dishes was characterized as "very dry," with the reviewer speculating that it might have been old, possibly reheated after refrigeration. They also noted the presence of sinew, typical of chicken leg meat, and hard pieces, which they attributed to either overcooking or the reheating process.
The same negative review also pointed out issues with the vegetables, stating that the broccoli in the dishes was undercooked. This suggests a potential inconsistency in the cooking of different components of the meals. Despite these criticisms, the reviewer did find one redeeming aspect: the egg rolls were described as "ok," although not considered the best in town. Ultimately, based on this initial experience, the reviewer stated that they would not recommend New China.
Considering these two contrasting reviews, it is evident that customer experiences at New China can differ significantly. While the use of real orange in the Orange Chicken is a noted positive, concerns have been raised regarding the preparation and quality of other key components such as rice, chicken, and broccoli. The reliance on third-party delivery services, while perhaps standard in the area, has also been highlighted as a potential drawback by at least one customer.
Based solely on the provided information, it is challenging to form a comprehensive picture of the environment and services offered at New China beyond the food quality and delivery method. The reviews do not offer any insights into the restaurant's ambiance, cleanliness, or the attentiveness of the dine-in service, as one of the reviewers specifically mentioned it was their first visit, implying a takeout or delivery order. The other review focuses on the delivery aspect and the quality of a specific dish.
Therefore, local users considering New China might want to weigh the potential benefits, such as the use of real orange in their Orange Chicken, against the reported inconsistencies in the preparation of other dishes and the reliance on third-party delivery services, which have been noted as problematic by at least one customer. If dining in is an option, further information would be needed to assess the restaurant's environment and in-house service quality.
As the provided information is limited to these two reviews, no details regarding specific features of the restaurant (such as unique menu items beyond the Orange Chicken, special cooking techniques, or sourcing of ingredients other than the mention of "real orange") can be definitively outlined. Similarly, there is no promotional information available in these reviews, such as discounts, special offers, or loyalty programs.
In conclusion, New China in Southern View, IL, presents a mixed picture based on the available customer feedback. A notable positive is the use of real orange in their Orange Chicken, which has been specifically praised. However, concerns have been raised about the quality and preparation of other dishes, including undercooked rice and broccoli, as well as dry and potentially reheated chicken. The restaurant's reliance on third-party delivery services has also been mentioned as a potential source of frustration. Local users may want to consider these points when deciding whether to try New China and perhaps seek more recent or a broader range of reviews to get a more comprehensive understanding of the current dining experience offered.

Customer Reviews
Chinese restaurants no longer deliver. You have to use GrubHub or DoorDash. Both companies are horrible. However, New China uses real orange in their Orange Chicken. That's worth it right there.
Not impressed. Rice was not done, chicken in dishes very dry like several days old .Appeared to be chicken leg meat as had some sinew in it and hard pieces from over cooking or refrigerated and reheated. Broccoli in dishes undercooked. I give it a two because the egg rolls were ok but not the best I have had in town. I would not recommend this restaurant. This was our first visit, the one that really counts.
I came in on Sunday 12-8-2024, and ordered beef and broccoli, and two chicken egg rolls. These egg rolls were HORRIBLE! First they did not look like egg rolls, too much corn starch and flour on them. There was just old chicken wrapped in cabbage and egg roll wrapped, covered in flour and cornstarch and fried. Overall the food was not tasty and will not be returning!
Been going here for years, it’s consistently fast, tasty, large portions, nice staff, and good price! I like that I can order online with Beyond Menu App!
Very salty Pork egg Foo . Order egg rolls and only got one and no hot mustard. I won’t go back
