About New China

Welcome to New China, a Chinese restaurant located at 6483 Old U.S. Hwy 52 in Welcome, North Carolina. As a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, New China offers a range of Chinese cuisine options for the community. Based on recent customer feedback, experiences at New China appear to be varied, with some customers expressing disappointment while others found aspects of their visit to be satisfactory.

One customer who visited New China for the first time shared a largely negative experience. While they acknowledged that the service was quick, they noted that their interaction with the staff was "very minimal." Additionally, they mentioned feeling uncomfortable due to the staff watching them while they waited for their food to be prepared. This observation suggests a potential lack of attentiveness or perhaps an environment that made this particular customer feel uneasy.

The same reviewer also raised concerns about the restaurant's environment, stating that it had a noticeable "smell of old cigarettes" and generally seemed "dingy." These comments point to potential issues with the cleanliness and ambiance of the dining area, which can significantly impact the overall customer experience. A less-than-pleasant environment can detract from the enjoyment of the meal, regardless of the food quality.

In terms of the food itself, this customer expressed dissatisfaction with both the price and the quality. They felt that the prices were "high for not a lot of food," indicating concerns about the portion sizes relative to the cost. Furthermore, they described the quality as "not great" and noted an "odd taste" to their chicken lo mein. Of particular concern was their experience with the chicken, stating that "the chicken didn't taste like chicken in the last piece I ate." This serious issue with the taste and perceived quality of a key ingredient is a significant point of concern raised by this reviewer.

Based on their negative experience, this customer concluded that they would not be returning to New China and did not even intend to finish their current meal. This strong reaction underscores the level of dissatisfaction experienced during their visit, encompassing aspects of service, environment, price, portion size, and food quality.

In contrast, another customer shared a more positive, albeit mixed, review. This customer stated that the "food was good" and specifically mentioned ordering sesame chicken. This suggests that at least some of the dishes offered at New China are well-received and meet customer expectations in terms of taste. However, this reviewer also noted that the "portion side was small," echoing the concern raised by the previous customer regarding the quantity of food provided.

Despite the issue with the portion size, this second customer concluded their review by stating, "Otherwise it was good. I will go back again." This indicates that while the portion size was a drawback, the overall quality and taste of the sesame chicken were satisfactory enough to warrant a return visit. This suggests that experiences at New China can vary, and while some aspects may be lacking for some customers, others may find certain dishes enjoyable enough to overlook these shortcomings.

Considering these recent customer reviews, it appears that New China is a Chinese restaurant in Welcome, NC, that offers quick service but may have inconsistencies in food quality, portion sizes, and the overall dining environment. While one customer experienced multiple significant issues leading to a strong negative impression, another found the food to be good despite noting small portions and still expressed an intention to return.

For local users considering dining at New China, it is important to weigh these recent experiences. If quick service is a priority and you are interested in trying dishes like sesame chicken, you might find it satisfactory. However, it is also prudent to be aware of potential concerns regarding portion sizes, the restaurant's ambiance (including a reported smell of old cigarettes and a dingy appearance), and the quality and taste of certain dishes, such as the chicken in the lo mein as reported by one customer.

As with any restaurant with mixed reviews, individual experiences can vary. Factors such as the specific dishes ordered, the time of visit, and personal preferences can all influence one's overall satisfaction. If you are considering visiting New China, you may want to take into account the feedback regarding specific dishes that were mentioned positively (sesame chicken) and negatively (chicken lo mein). You might also want to consider whether the reported environmental concerns are something that would significantly impact your dining experience.

To gain a more comprehensive understanding of what New China has to offer, local users may consider contacting the restaurant directly at (336) 731-8880 or their mobile number +1 336-731-8880 to inquire about their menu, pricing, and any current specials. Speaking with the staff directly might also provide insights into their service approach and allow you to ask any specific questions you may have based on the recent reviews. Additionally, if you are particularly sensitive to environmental factors, you might consider a brief visit to assess the restaurant's ambiance before placing an order or deciding to dine in.

In conclusion, New China in Welcome, NC, is a Chinese restaurant that has received mixed reviews from recent customers. While it is noted for its quick service and some dishes, like the sesame chicken, have been described as good, concerns have been raised regarding portion sizes, the restaurant's environment, and the quality of certain menu items. Local users should consider these factors when deciding whether to dine at New China and may wish to gather additional information or visit the location to form their own informed opinion.

Went to New China for the first time tonight and it was disappointing. Service was quick but we had very minimal interaction. They did watch us while we waited for our food to be finished which felt awkward. The restaurant had a smell of old cigarettes and it just seemed dingy. The prices were high for not a lot of food and the quality was not great. It had an odd taste to it. I had the chicken lo mein. The chicken didn't taste like chicken in the last piece I ate. I don't believe I'll be returning here or finishing my food.

I’ve been coming here since I was in high school(2012) and the food has never disappointed me or my family. All my friends love this place as well. Yes their English may not be the best but they are very hard working people, So Be patient!
