About New China

Welcome to New China, a Chinese restaurant located at 4543 N Illinois St, Swansea, IL 62226, USA. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, New China aims to provide a selection of Chinese cuisine to the local community in Swansea, Illinois. While comprehensive details about the restaurant's full range of services and current promotional information are not extensively available, the provided customer reviews offer some insights into the quality of the food, the environment, and aspects of the service.

As a Chinese restaurant, New China likely offers a menu featuring a variety of popular Chinese-American dishes. Based on the customer reviews, some specific items have been mentioned. One reviewer who usually loves the place ordered their typical meal but experienced a missing item – white rice – leaving them with only chicken and rangoons. This suggests that chicken dishes and crab rangoons are part of their offerings. Another reviewer mentioned ordering Mongolian beef and szechuan chicken, both of which they found to be "very good" but noted that the szechuan chicken "could have used more spice." This indicates that New China serves these classic dishes and is open to feedback regarding spice levels. The portions were also described as "good" by this reviewer.

The environment of New China is described by one customer as "very small and somewhat crowded but not with customers." This suggests that the physical space of the restaurant might be limited in size. The lack of crowding with customers on a Saturday night (February 22nd, as per the review) could indicate varying levels of business at different times. A significant point raised by this reviewer was that "nobody seems to understand or speak English." This could present a communication challenge for some customers when placing orders or making inquiries. Despite this, the reviewer still found the food to be "very good," highlighting a potential trade-off between service clarity and food quality.

The services offered by New China appear to include both takeout and potentially dine-in. One reviewer mentioned ordering food, implying a takeout service. The other reviewer dined in with their son, indicating that dine-in service is also available. However, the description of the restaurant as "very small and somewhat crowded" might suggest that the dine-in experience could be limited by space, although not necessarily by the number of patrons at the time of their visit. Delivery service is not mentioned in the provided reviews, so customers interested in this option may need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about its availability.

A key feature of New China, based on the positive aspects of the reviews, is the quality of its food. The Mongolian beef and szechuan chicken were described as "very good," and the portions were noted to be satisfying. Even the reviewer who experienced a missing item mentioned usually loving the place and ordering frequently, suggesting a generally positive perception of their food quality. However, the language barrier with the staff could be considered a notable characteristic of the service experience, potentially requiring patience or alternative methods of communication, such as ordering by number from a menu, if available.

Promotional information for New China is not included in the provided customer reviews. Local users interested in any potential specials, discounts, or new menu items are encouraged to contact the restaurant directly at (618) 234-3333 or +1 618-234-3333. It is common for local restaurants to have daily specials or limited-time promotions that are not always advertised online, so a direct inquiry is the best way to obtain this information.

In summary, New China in Swansea, IL, is a Chinese restaurant that offers both takeout and dine-in services. While the environment is described as small and there may be communication challenges due to a perceived lack of English proficiency among the staff, the food, including dishes like Mongolian beef and szechuan chicken, has been positively reviewed for its taste and portion sizes. The mention of frequently ordering and usually loving the place suggests a generally positive experience for some customers, despite occasional order errors. Potential customers should be aware of the reported language barrier when interacting with the staff. To learn more about their full menu, services (including delivery, if available), hours of operation, and any current promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended. It may also be helpful to seek out additional, more recent reviews from other online platforms to gain a broader perspective on the current customer experience at New China.

Usually LOVE this place, I ordered from here frequently. I ordered my food as I usually do and this time they forgot my white rice with my order and all I have is chicken and rangoons... I won't be ordering from here again...

It was the first time my son and I were here, very small and somewhat crowded but not with customers, nobody seems to understand or speak English. But I have to say the food was very good. It was a Saturday night 02/22. The portions were good. I had Mongolian beef, and my sobe had szechuan chicken, they were very good but could have used more spice. We would definitely go back.

Do not frequent this place! Such poor service! Arrived to pick up a to-go order and was totally ignored! 2 young boys (must have been owners’ sons) were waiting on customers and acting childishly. Finally got their attention to wait on me and they never greeted me nor thanked me for my order. Got home with the food and my daughter’s order was completely wrong! We will definitely choose a different restaurant in the future!

My go to restaurant for Chinese via Uber eats. Almost always hot and fresh. Y’all see the steam on the chicken sticks packaging. General Tso and pork fried rice is my go to and occasionally with sweet and sour. General Tso is exactly as expected. If you want more spice, add chili powder and you’re golden.

Don’t order the chicken fried rice. No meat. All chicken fat!!! The St Paul had the butt of the lettuce in it! Reasons why I will be driving to ESTL for the good rice house!
