About NEW CHINA

NEW CHINA is a Chinese restaurant located at 2307 Main Hwy in Bamberg, South Carolina, serving the local community with a variety of Chinese cuisine options. As a member of the Chinese Restaurant category, NEW CHINA offers both takeout and potentially dine-in services, though specific details about the dining environment are not provided in the available reviews. The customer feedback presents a somewhat mixed picture, with initial positive impressions contrasted by more recent and critical experiences.

One customer shared positive experiences from their first and second visits to NEW CHINA. During their initial visit, they enjoyed the "Boneless Chicken with White Rice," and on their second visit, they ordered and were satisfied with the "Chicken and Broccoli with White Rice." These comments suggest that NEW CHINA is capable of producing enjoyable and well-received versions of classic Chinese dishes, at least on some occasions.

However, a more recent and detailed review paints a less favorable picture of NEW CHINA. This customer expresses a strong sentiment that the restaurant is "definitely going downhill" and raises several significant concerns. One of the primary criticisms is the pricing, with the reviewer stating that NEW CHINA is "very expensive." This perception of high prices could be a deterrent for budget-conscious customers in the Bamberg area, especially when compared to other available options.

Beyond the cost, the more critical aspect of the negative review focuses on the freshness of the food. The customer explicitly states that "the food is not fresh," which is a serious concern for any dining establishment. To support this claim, they describe the chicken wings as being exceptionally small, implying a lower quality or perhaps the use of less desirable parts. The reviewer's analogy of the wings coming "from a biddie" underscores their dissatisfaction with the size and presumably the quality of the chicken wings.

The negative review further details a particularly unpleasant experience with a shrimp egg roll. The customer described it as being unusually "BIG AND THICK," which might initially sound positive but was quickly overshadowed by the quality of the ingredients. According to the reviewer, the ingredients inside the large egg roll were "old and mushy," indicating a lack of freshness and potentially improper handling or storage of the ingredients. This description is highly unappetizing and raises significant concerns about the overall food quality at NEW CHINA.

Adding to the potential drawbacks, the negative review also points out a significant inconvenience regarding payment methods. The customer notes that NEW CHINA is "one of the few business establishments left that does not take credit/debit cards" and operates as a "cash-only" business. In today's economy, where many people rely on electronic forms of payment, being a cash-only establishment can be a major disadvantage and inconvenience for customers. It may deter those who do not carry cash or prefer the security and record-keeping of card transactions.

In stark contrast to their experiences at NEW CHINA, the negative reviewer mentions that they now frequent "the other Chinese restaurant" in the area, where the food is described as "REALLY fresh" and "much cheaper." This direct comparison highlights the perceived shortcomings of NEW CHINA in terms of both quality and price, further emphasizing the negative aspects raised in the review.

Based on the available customer feedback, NEW CHINA in Bamberg, SC, presents a somewhat contradictory image. While one customer reported positive experiences with specific dishes on their initial visits, a more recent and detailed review expresses significant concerns about the high prices, lack of food freshness (specifically mentioning chicken wings and a shrimp egg roll with old, mushy ingredients), and the inconvenience of being a cash-only business. This negative review strongly suggests a decline in the restaurant's quality and service over time, at least in the opinion of this particular customer.

For local users in Bamberg, SC, considering NEW CHINA, it is crucial to take both sets of feedback into account. The initial positive comments indicate that the restaurant may have the potential to serve satisfactory Chinese cuisine. However, the more recent and comprehensive negative review raises serious red flags regarding food freshness, preparation quality, pricing, and payment options. Potential customers may want to weigh these factors carefully and perhaps consider the experiences shared by both reviewers before deciding to dine at or order from NEW CHINA. The fact that a former customer has switched to another local Chinese restaurant due to concerns about freshness and price is a significant point to consider.

Given the limited and conflicting information, it is not possible to provide a comprehensive introduction that highlights numerous positive features or any promotional information for NEW CHINA. The most recent and detailed feedback focuses on negative aspects that could significantly impact customer satisfaction. Therefore, local users should approach NEW CHINA with caution and perhaps consider seeking more recent reviews or information to get a broader understanding of the current state of the restaurant before making a decision.

New China is definitely going downhill. They are very expensive. Not only that but the food is not fresh. And the chicken wings they give you must come from a biddie. I don't like big wings but I certainly don't like them this small either. Just the other day, I ordered a shrimp egg roll and you should have seen how BIG AND THICK this thing was and the ingredients were old and mushy. Lastly, this is one of the few business establishments left that does not take credit/debit cards. It's cash-only. I now go to the other Chinese restaurant where food is REALLY fresh and it's also much cheaper.

I ordered plain fried rice last night and spring rolls. I have unfortunately been suffering with diarrhea after eating only a few bites. The rice was not fresh it seemed to be reheated extra oil added etc. Rice and Pasta breed bacteria pretty quickly. I unfortunately will have to pass on this establishment in the future.

Food tasted so so but everything was frozen and shipped in. Nothing was handmade even before it was frozen. Little pricey.
