About New China
New China, located at 7055 E Reno Ave in Midwest City, OK 73110, serves as a local Chinese restaurant primarily focused on takeout service. This establishment, contactable at (405) 869-0888 or +1 405-869-0888, offers a convenient option for residents seeking classic Chinese dishes in the area. However, recent customer feedback suggests a highly variable experience, particularly concerning service and food quality.
The environment at New China is typical of many neighborhood Chinese takeout restaurants. It is described as a "counter-serve nook in a strip mall," implying a modest, functional space designed primarily for order placement and pick-up rather than extensive dine-in experiences. Such establishments usually feature a service counter, a visible menu board, and a small waiting area. The focus is on efficiency and getting orders out quickly. While the provided reviews do not offer specific details about the decor or seating capacity, it is reasonable to infer that the ambiance is utilitarian and geared towards providing a swift transaction. The emphasis is on convenience for customers who are looking for a quick meal to take home. Cleanliness is generally expected, but the overall atmosphere would likely be no-frills, consistent with a budget-friendly takeout model.
The service at New China appears to be a significant point of concern based on customer reviews. One customer explicitly states that the service was "Very rude, very unprofessional." This negative experience stemmed from a communication issue where the staff member at the front desk displayed an "attitude" when the customer tried to order "boneless spare ribs." Despite the customer seeing the item on a menu behind the cashier, the employee initially insisted they "didn't have that," and later maintained an unhelpful demeanor. This incident highlights a severe deficiency in customer interaction, suggesting a lack of courtesy, professionalism, and willingness to assist. The customer's strong sentiment, "because we the people are what keep this places in business and they need to understand that so yeah I want be back," underscores the detrimental impact of poor service on customer loyalty and reputation. While other external reviews sometimes mention efficiency, this specific feedback points to a critical area where this location's service falls short of basic customer expectations.
The culinary features of New China, based on the provided customer reviews, also present a mixed and somewhat concerning picture. One customer provided a detailed negative review of their egg drop soup and chicken fried rice. The egg drop soup's "coloring was dark orange instead of light yellow," which deviated from the customer's expectation and the "advertised in the picture on the doordash menu." This visual inconsistency, coupled with a "taste is different," suggests a potential deviation from standard preparation or ingredients. More alarmingly, the customer reported that the soup "gave me the shits the next day," raising serious concerns about food safety or quality. Additionally, the portion of "crispy crunchy strips" given for "2 large egg drop soup" was deemed insufficient. The chicken fried rice also received a negative review, described as having a "weird texture" and being "flavorless," leading to it being discarded after one bite. These specific complaints point to significant inconsistencies and potential quality control issues in the kitchen.
However, it is important to note that external online reviews for New China (7055 E Reno Ave) also contain some positive feedback. Some patrons praise specific items, such as "THE BEST egg rolls and crab ragoons" and "delicious and crunchy" sesame chicken. Dishes like Beef with Broccoli and Egg Drop Soup are also frequently ordered and receive high ratings from a larger pool of reviews, suggesting that while some experiences are poor, others are positive. The menu itself is comprehensive, offering a wide array of appetizers (including boneless spare ribs, dumplings, crab rangoon), various fried rice, chow mein, lo mein, and main dishes across beef, chicken, pork, and seafood categories, as well as combination plates and chef's specials. This indicates a broad selection of typical American Chinese fare. However, the stark contrast between highly negative experiences and general positive reviews implies a significant lack of consistency in food preparation and quality control, which can make the dining experience a gamble for customers.
From a promotional standpoint, New China, like many local Chinese takeout establishments, likely relies on its convenient location, speed of service for typical orders, and potentially competitive pricing to attract customers. The general expectation for Chinese takeout is affordability and efficiency, which are inherent forms of promotion. However, the severely negative customer feedback regarding rude service and concerning food quality issues (including the food safety concern) can act as powerful counter-promotional forces. The customer's declaration of "I want be back" directly undermines any efforts to build repeat business. While the restaurant may have a loyal customer base or attract new customers through initial price points, the widespread negative experiences reported online, if not addressed, can significantly deter potential new patrons and erode existing loyalty. For local users, the primary "promotion" might be its presence in the neighborhood for quick Chinese food, but the significant caveats regarding inconsistent quality and poor customer service should be carefully considered before placing an order. Word-of-mouth, especially negative, can spread quickly within a local community and severely impact a small business's reputation and sustainability. No explicit promotional deals were mentioned in the provided text, and the negative experiences overshadow any implicit value propositions.
In conclusion, New China at 7055 E Reno Ave in Midwest City, OK, is a local Chinese restaurant primarily operating as a takeout establishment. While it offers a broad menu of American Chinese dishes and might appeal to those seeking a quick, convenient, and potentially affordable meal, customer feedback reveals significant issues. Concerns range from highly unprofessional and rude customer service interactions to severe inconsistencies in food quality, flavor, and even hygiene, leading to very negative dining experiences for some patrons. While some dishes may be well-received, the reported unreliability in both service and food preparation makes it a risky choice. For local users, it is important to be aware of these potential pitfalls and manage expectations carefully when considering New China for their Chinese food needs.

Customer Reviews
Very rude, very unprofessional. lady at the front had an attitude with me for no reason because I was trying to order boneless spare ribs she said they didn’t have that but did. I just called it short ribs and instead of her saying you mean spare ribs she just said we don’t have that. I seen a menu behind her and said oh sorry the boneless spare ribs. she still had this attitude about her self so that made me not want to order from this place or spend my money here. because we the people are what keep this places in business and they need to understand that so yeah I want be back
I was Surprise of receiving a drop soup order. The coloring of the soup was dark orange instead of light yellow so I was kind of iffy about it. the taste is different. Wasnt the same color what's advertised in the picture on the doordash menu.and only giving me one bag of the crispy crunchy strips for 2 large egg drop soup.the soup gave me the shits the next day
First time the food was literally great, this time, same order (but double) and different cooks, multiple people in kitchen and the flavor sucked. One of them is a great cook and the rest, not so much. Spent over 60 dollars and doubt if I will.be doing that again. It doesn't do any good to have help if their food isn't tasty and it causes customers not to come back
This place used to be great and the food is still good but the service is horrible. If you call they act like you are bothering them and I’m tired of spending my money on businesses with crappy service.
Don't expect to get your order promptly. They lie about the wait times. If you get your order in less than an hour, consider yourself lucky. Go somewhere else. Pretty sure they gave me norovirus food poisoning.
