About New China House
New China House is a Chinese restaurant located at 1133 N Main St, Marion, VA 24354, USA, serving the local community as part of the Chinese Restaurant category. Based on the limited recent customer feedback available online, experiences at New China House appear to be mixed, with significant concerns raised about food quality and the dining environment, alongside a more neutral comment regarding the staff. This detailed introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the restaurant based on these reviews to help local users form their own expectations.
The environment of New China House, according to one detailed negative review, seems to be a cause for concern. The dining room was described as "a mess," and the furniture was reported to be "literally falling apart." These observations suggest a potentially unkempt and poorly maintained dining area, which could negatively impact the overall dining experience for customers who choose to eat at the restaurant. Such conditions might deter potential patrons and indicate a lack of attention to the upkeep of the premises.
In terms of services, New China House appears to offer both a buffet and potentially a la carte options, although the latter is not explicitly detailed. One reviewer mentioned that "The buffet is pretty small with limited options," which could be a drawback for customers seeking a wide variety of dishes typically associated with a Chinese buffet. The same review also noted that the customer service was "almost non existent," suggesting a lack of attentiveness or engagement from the staff. In contrast, another reviewer described the staff as "fair" and "nice but really didn't talk much," indicating a more neutral experience with the service. The discrepancy in these accounts highlights a potential inconsistency in the customer service provided.
The features of New China House, particularly the food quality, have been a significant point of criticism in one of the reviews. Several specific dishes were mentioned as being unsatisfactory. The pot stickers were described as being "cold in the middle," indicating a potential issue with proper heating or cooking. The egg rolls were reported as not being "crunchy in the least bit," suggesting they may have been soggy or not freshly prepared. The crab rangoon was also described as "soggy," further contributing to a negative impression of the fried items. Additionally, the steamed rice was noted to be "very dry," and there was a lack of water to put the serving spoon in, which points to a lack of attention to detail in the buffet setup. These specific complaints paint a picture of food that is not prepared to an expected standard and lacks freshness or proper cooking.
Despite the predominantly negative feedback on food quality and the dining environment, one reviewer found the food to be "pretty good." This contrasting opinion suggests that there might be some variability in the quality of different dishes or in individual customer expectations. However, the more detailed negative review raises serious concerns about several key aspects of the dining experience at New China House.
Regarding promotional information, neither of the provided reviews mentions any specific discounts, special offers, or ongoing promotions at New China House. Local users interested in finding out about any potential deals or new menu items are advised to contact the restaurant directly using the phone number provided. Without any explicit information, it is not possible to comment on any current promotional activities the restaurant might be running.
In conclusion, New China House in Marion, VA, presents a mixed and somewhat concerning picture based on the limited recent customer feedback. While one reviewer found the food to be "pretty good" and the staff "fair," another detailed review highlighted significant issues with food quality, including cold pot stickers, soggy egg rolls and crab rangoon, and dry rice. This reviewer also described a poorly maintained dining room with falling-apart furniture and noted the buffet's limited options and almost non-existent customer service. The stark contrast between these two reviews suggests a potential inconsistency in the overall experience at New China House. Local users considering dining here should weigh these points carefully. The negative feedback regarding food quality and the state of the dining environment is particularly concerning and might warrant further investigation or consideration of alternative options.
For those in the Marion, VA area looking for a Chinese restaurant, New China House offers a buffet and potentially other menu options. However, the recent reviews present a cautionary tale. While one customer had a relatively neutral experience, another reported significant issues with the food quality and the state of the dining room. If you are considering visiting New China House, it might be wise to manage expectations based on this feedback. Food was not very good. One of the pot stickers I got was cold in the middle, the egg rolls weren't crunchy in the least bit, and the crab Rangoon was soggy. The steamed rice was very dry and there was no water to put the spoon in. The buffet is pretty small with limited options. Customer service was almost non existent. The furniture is literally falling apart and the dining room was a mess. Not sure that I could recommend this to anyone.
Pretty good food, staff was fair. They was nice but really didn't talk much.
Now that this place is under new management the food is amazing, hot and fresh! They also offer peel and eat shrimp after 3pm! The buffet is super fresh and under $12.00 - most fast food is more than $12.00 bucks! Over all this is a great deal!!!!
The food here is AMAZING!!!! Tony and Jordyn are the new owners of this place and work so hard to please their customers! The buffet is constantly stocked with fresh food and they really take their time to see how you’re doing and ask how your day is all while keeping your drinks topped off. If you want a good atmosphere with great food and excellent service and LOVE Chinese food then this is the place for you!!!
I'm not sure why folks expect gourmet food from a Chinese buffet in a strip mall in a town with less than 6,000 people but ok I guess. I'm pleased with this place and for the price!
