About New China City

Welcome to New China City, a Chinese restaurant located at 538 N Beacon Blvd in Grand Haven, Michigan (MI 49417), USA. As a local establishment within the Chinese restaurant category, New China City aims to provide the Grand Haven community with a range of Chinese culinary options. Whether you are looking for a quick lunch, a takeout order for dinner, or potentially a place to dine in, New China City is one of the choices available in the area. Customer reviews for New China City present a somewhat mixed picture, highlighting both positive and negative experiences. One reviewer expressed a strong preference for their crab rangoons, stating that they are their "favorite" among five different places in Grand Haven. This positive feedback suggests that New China City may have a particular strength in preparing this popular appetizer. The same reviewer also praised the freshness of the food in general, noting that the "food is always fresh" and specifically highlighting the "DELICIOUS!" shrimp eggroll, mentioning that the "veggies are fresh." This customer also appreciated the speed of service, stating that their orders are "always fast," and indicated that New China City has become their "new go to for lunch." Furthermore, they expressed interest in trying the Singapore Chicken, suggesting it is another item on the menu that has caught their attention. This review paints a picture of a restaurant that, for some customers, offers fresh, tasty food, particularly the crab rangoons and shrimp eggrolls, coupled with efficient service, making it a convenient option for lunch and potentially other meals.

However, another review presents a significantly contrasting experience. This customer visited New China City based on Google reviews but found their experience to be "pretty bad!!!" Their primary complaint centered around the wontons they ordered, which they described as "mostly fried flour shells with mystery meat that was supposed to be pork." The reviewer's dissatisfaction was strong enough that they attempted to get the dish replaced. According to their account, the response from the person at the register was unhelpful, simply stating, "That’s what you ordered that’s what you got," and showing a lack of concern for the customer's feedback about the poor quality of the dish. The reviewer's attempt to explain how bad the wontons were was apparently met with indifference. Ultimately, the customer felt compelled to throw the wontons away, expressing frustration at having wasted their money and advising others to "Save your money." This negative review raises concerns about the quality of certain dishes and the level of customer service at New China City, suggesting that experiences can vary significantly.

Considering these two reviews, it is difficult to form a definitive overall assessment of New China City. On one hand, there is praise for the freshness of some items, particularly the crab rangoons and shrimp eggrolls, as well as the speed of service. This suggests that New China City may excel in certain aspects of its food preparation and operational efficiency. On the other hand, there is a serious complaint about the quality of another dish (the wontons) and a negative interaction with staff regarding a customer issue. This indicates potential inconsistencies in food quality and customer service that local users should be aware of.

The provided information does not offer any details about the restaurant's environment or ambiance for dine-in customers. The reviews focus solely on the food and service aspects related to takeout. Therefore, local users interested in dining at New China City would need to either inquire directly about their dine-in facilities or look for additional information from other sources, such as online photos or more detailed reviews that might describe the restaurant's interior and atmosphere.

Similarly, there is no specific information about any promotional offers or lunch specials that New China City might be running, aside from the positive mention of it being a "new go to for lunch" by one reviewer, implying they found it suitable for lunchtime meals. To learn about any discounts, special menus, or other promotions, it would be best to contact the restaurant directly via phone or check if they have any online presence, such as a website or social media pages, where such information might be shared.

In conclusion, New China City in Grand Haven, MI, is a Chinese restaurant that has received both positive and negative feedback from its customers. Some patrons have praised the freshness of certain dishes, particularly the crab rangoons and shrimp eggrolls, and appreciated the fast service. However, there are also reports of poor food quality in other items, such as the wontons, and unsatisfactory customer service in addressing these issues. Local users considering New China City should be aware of these mixed reviews. If you are interested in trying their praised items like the crab rangoons or shrimp eggrolls and value quick service, it might be worth considering. However, the negative review serves as a cautionary tale regarding potential inconsistencies in food quality and customer service. Without further information about the dining environment or any promotional offers, local users will need to weigh these contrasting experiences when deciding whether to patronize New China City. It may be prudent to inquire further about their menu and current standards before placing an order or visiting in person.

I have ordered Crab Rangoons from 5 places in GH. New China has my favorite. Food is always fresh. The Shimp Eggroll is DELICIOUS! Can tell the veggies are fresh. My new go to for lunch! They are always fast with my orders, too. Thank you New China. Eyeing up their Singapore Chicken!

I went here because of Google review and it was pretty bad!!! I ordered wontons and they were pretty bad mostly fried flour shells with mystery meat that was supposed to be pork. I tried to get it replaced and the guy at register said “That’s what you ordered that’s what you got”. I tried to explain how bad they were he didn’t care. I had to throw them away. Money down the drain. Save your money.

We have always had great service and delicious food from here. I like the Mongolian Beef, ask for it spicy, and it comes out fresh, hot and proportionate with the meat, vegetables and sauce. My wife likes the Beef Fried Rice and the Beef and Broccoli, and the Shrimp Egg Rolls are very good!

We decided to give New China City a try because the quality of our local Chinese take out had diminished. I ordered for five, and there was a range of items in the order, and the quality was consistently good for all the dishes. This is not high end dining, but for what it is, I feel it's a good choice for Chinese in the West Michigan area. One of the things I appreciated is that they options for different tastes, from steamed dishes along with deep fried items.

Went with two coworkers and myself, very fresh and very quick food. Everything was hot and delicious, from my Bourbon chicken to my bosses pot stickers 10/10 and very polite workers as well. Highly recommend.
