About New China Chinese Restaurant
New China Chinese Restaurant is situated at 1404 W Virginia Ave in Crewe, Virginia. As a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, it offers a variety of Chinese cuisine options to the community. Customers can contact the restaurant at (434) 645-9888 or via their mobile number +1 434-645-9888 for orders or inquiries. Recent online customer reviews present a starkly contrasting view of the restaurant, with one praising the food as exceptional while another strongly criticizing the quality and overall experience.
One reviewer urged potential customers to "forget the negative reviews," asserting that New China Chinese Restaurant serves "some of the best Chinese food I've ever had." This positive feedback suggests that at least some patrons have had highly satisfying culinary experiences at this location. This reviewer also commented on the exterior appearance of the building, noting that it "looks a little rough from the outside." However, they advised against judging the restaurant solely on its exterior, encouraging others to "come in and have a great dining experience." This implies that the interior environment might offer a more pleasant setting than the initial impression from the outside.
In stark contrast, another reviewer recounted a significantly negative experience, particularly focusing on the fried rice. They stated that it was "the worst fried rice I have ever tried!" This reviewer also mentioned having initial reservations about the restaurant based on its exterior appearance upon arrival, echoing the sentiment of the previous reviewer but ultimately finding their apprehension justified. Upon entering the establishment, this customer described the environment as feeling "very non-welcoming," suggesting a potentially uncomfortable or uninviting atmosphere for patrons. They explicitly recommended going inside to understand their impression of the environment.
A critical piece of information from this negative review concerns the restaurant's payment policy. The reviewer noted that New China Chinese Restaurant "does not except credit or debit cards," operating on a "cash only" basis. They also confirmed that alternative digital payment methods like Apple Pay were not accepted. The reviewer expressed a personal concern regarding this policy, speculating that a restaurant unwilling to invest in credit card services or even basic card readers might be "cutting the corners when it comes to the ingredients they use, and how they prepare the meal." Based on their subsequent food experience, they felt their assumption was correct.
The detailed description of the fried rice in the negative review paints a concerning picture. The reviewer, who claims significant experience reviewing fried rice from various Asian cuisines, described the rice as having an "odd color" they had never seen before. Furthermore, it was reportedly "swimming in oil." The beef in the dish was described as "apparently boiled," with the reviewer expressing reluctance to speculate on the quality or cut of meat used. The reviewer included an image (though not available here) and stated that they took only one or two bites before discarding the entire carton, deeming the $13 spent as "wasted" but necessary to avoid "malnourishment." This reviewer strongly advised others seeking good Asian cuisine to travel to the next town, specifically mentioning Farmville.
Considering the drastically different perspectives in these two reviews, it is challenging to definitively characterize the environment and services of New China Chinese Restaurant. One reviewer suggested a pleasant interior that belies the rough exterior, while the other described a "non-welcoming" environment inside. The services clearly include take-out, as both reviewers reference ordering and receiving food. However, a significant service aspect is the "cash only" payment policy, which could be a major inconvenience for many customers and, as one reviewer speculated, potentially indicative of other cost-cutting measures. The discrepancy in reported food quality also suggests inconsistency or varying standards.
Features of New China Chinese Restaurant mentioned by reviewers include the affordability implied by one reviewer's positive experience with the food quality relative to price (though not explicitly stated), and the cash-only payment policy, which is a notable characteristic of their business operation. The "non-welcoming" environment described by one reviewer could also be considered a feature, albeit a negative one. The potential for high-quality Chinese food, as claimed by one reviewer, contrasts sharply with the "worst fried rice ever" described by another, indicating a significant lack of consistency or differing standards for different dishes.
There is no information available in these reviews regarding any specific promotional offers, discounts, or featured menu items at New China Chinese Restaurant. The focus of the feedback is on the overall food quality, the environment, and the payment policy. Therefore, no objective introduction to any ongoing specials or promotions can be provided based on the given information.
In conclusion, New China Chinese Restaurant in Crewe, VA, presents a highly polarized image based on recent customer reviews. While one patron experienced and praised the food as being among the best Chinese cuisine they had ever tasted, another had a severely negative experience, particularly with the fried rice, and found the environment unwelcoming. A significant aspect of this establishment is its "cash only" payment policy, which may deter some customers and raised concerns for one reviewer regarding potential impacts on food quality. The contrasting opinions suggest a potential inconsistency in food quality or a wide range of individual experiences. Local users considering New China Chinese Restaurant should weigh these differing perspectives and be prepared for a cash-only transaction.

Forget the negative reviews, because this place has some of the best chinese food I've ever had. The building looks a little rough from the outside, but don't judge a book by its cover, come in and have a great dining experience.
Worst fried rice I have ever tried! After pulling up to the restaurant, I had my doubts on the place based on its appearance, but I did not want to judge a book by its cover. Once I went inside the establishment, the environment feels very non-welcoming. You would have to go inside the restaurant to see what I mean. The business does not except credit or debit cards, so you can only pay in cash. No Apple Pay, or anything. I feel that if a restaurant is not willing to pay for a credit card service, or even spend money on a square reader, then they must be cutting the corners when it comes to the ingredients they use, and how they prepare the meal. Clearly, I was correct in my assumption. This rice was the worst I have ever had. My opinion should mean something because I do a lot of reviews for fried rice in Chinese, Japanese, and Thai locations. The rice was an odd color that I must say I haven’t seen before. It was swimming in oil. The beef was apparently boiled, and I don’t even want to ask what part of the cow was used. As you can see in the picture below I took one or two bites and then I threw the entire carton away. $13 wasted but I was not going to subject my body to that type of malnourishment. I advise that if you want a good well cooked Asian cuisine meal travel to the next town over which is a Farmville.
Food much better glad I tried it out after new ownership very delicious large portions reasonably priced I will be back
I live near this place and miss the old owners! My family and I used to get food from here at least 3 times a month. It's not just me, no one enjoyed their food. I realized when I didn't see friendly faces, they must've changed hands. We tried it twice. It was awful compared to the prior owners! We won't be back.
The food was ok, it didn't grab me like eat rice or wohwah on jahnke rd in Richmond. Wings small, egg roll didn't pop, egg fu young not good. Wing too crispy for me
