About New China Buffet
Welcome to the online introduction of New China Buffet, a Chinese restaurant located at 1217 Knox Ave, North Augusta, SC 29841, USA. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, New China Buffet offers an all-you-can-eat buffet experience featuring a variety of Chinese American dishes, along with some Southern food favorites. They can be contacted directly at (803) 279-8689 or +1 803-279-8689 for inquiries or to confirm operating hours and any specific service guidelines.
As a buffet-style restaurant, the primary service at New China Buffet is dine-in, allowing customers to enjoy a wide selection of dishes at a fixed price. One positive review explicitly mentions the "all you can eat buffet setting," highlighting this as a core feature. While the first review describes a customer coming in to get takeout food, the main focus of New China Buffet appears to be the buffet experience. Local users interested in takeout options should contact the restaurant directly to inquire about the availability and procedures for takeout orders, as it might be a secondary service or have specific conditions.
To gain a comprehensive understanding of the dining experience at New China Buffet, it is crucial to consider the recent feedback provided by customers in their online reviews. These firsthand accounts offer insights into various aspects of the restaurant, including food quality, service, and the overall environment.
One reviewer shared a mixed experience. Initially, they enjoyed the food and service. However, their positive impression was significantly marred by an incident involving another customer bringing a large dog into the restaurant. The reviewer noted that the dog did not appear to be a service or emotional support animal and was placed under a table in the dining area. The dog then shook its fur near other eating customers, including the reviewer. This incident was particularly upsetting to the reviewer because they observed a "NO PET SIGN" on the restaurant door. When they inquired with a cashier/server about speaking to the manager, they felt that their concern was not understood or taken seriously. This experience left the reviewer feeling very displeased, questioning the restaurant's adherence to its own no-pet policy and making them reconsider eating out in public.
In contrast, another reviewer had a highly positive experience at New China Buffet. They described it as a "super comfortable and casual" place offering Chinese American food with a "fun mix of classic favorites and Southern food favorites" in the buffet setting. This suggests a diverse menu catering to different tastes. The reviewer consistently found the staff to be "very friendly and welcoming," which contributes significantly to a positive dining atmosphere. They also noted the staff's efficiency in clearing empty plates and providing drink refills at the table, indicating attentive service.
Furthermore, this positive review highlighted the efforts of the chefs, who "constantly come out with new fresh food from their kitchens" to ensure a wide and fresh selection for customers. The reviewer stated that New China Buffet has "always been the BEST bang for buck in North Augusta" for those craving Asian food in a relaxed setting, without the need to dress up or wait long for their meals. Their personal favorites included the egg drop soup and orange chicken, indicating that these dishes are particularly well-prepared and enjoyable.
Considering these two reviews, New China Buffet presents a somewhat contrasting picture. On the one hand, it is praised for its comfortable, casual environment, friendly and efficient service, a diverse buffet selection including both Chinese American and Southern favorites, and the consistent introduction of fresh food. The "best bang for buck" comment suggests good value for money. The mention of specific popular dishes like egg drop soup and orange chicken can also be informative for potential customers.
However, the negative review raises a significant concern regarding the restaurant's adherence to its stated no-pet policy and the handling of customer complaints related to this issue. Allowing a non-service animal into the dining area, especially when a no-pet sign is displayed, is a serious oversight that can negatively impact the dining experience of other patrons. The perceived lack of understanding or concern from the staff when this was brought to their attention is also troubling.
As a buffet restaurant, the environment is likely spacious to accommodate the various food stations and seating areas. The "comfortable and casual" description suggests a relaxed and unpretentious setting, which can be appealing to a wide range of customers. The feature of an all-you-can-eat buffet allows diners to sample a variety of dishes and eat at their own pace, which can be a significant draw.
The services primarily revolve around the buffet experience and table service for drinks and clearing plates. The positive reviewer noted the speed and efficiency of these services. While takeout may be available, it is not the primary focus based on the reviews.
The features of New China Buffet include its all-you-can-eat format, the mix of Chinese American and Southern cuisine, the friendly and welcoming staff, and the continuous replenishment of fresh food on the buffet line. The value for money is also highlighted as a key feature.
Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Buffet restaurants often have consistent pricing for lunch and dinner, and they may offer discounts for seniors or children. Local users interested in any specific promotions, such as weekday specials or holiday offers, should contact New China Buffet directly using the phone numbers provided or check local online platforms or social media if the restaurant has a presence.
In conclusion, New China Buffet in North Augusta, SC, offers a comfortable and casual all-you-can-eat dining experience with a diverse selection of Chinese American and Southern food favorites. Customers have generally praised the friendly and efficient service, the constant availability of fresh food, and the overall value for money. However, a significant concern has been raised regarding the restaurant's adherence to its no-pet policy and the handling of related customer complaints. Local users considering New China Buffet should weigh the positive feedback on food and service against the reported issue with a non-service animal being allowed in the dining area, especially if they have concerns about hygiene or allergies. Contacting the restaurant directly for information on takeout options, pricing, and any current promotions is recommended.

I enjoyed the food & service until I seen a customer come in with his big dog, it didn't have any indication of it being a service or emotional pet, his owner place the dog under the table on the leftside back, to go get his take out food, when he returned back to get his dog, the dog shook his fur beside 3 people who were eating & sitting in the same area as I & to me it looks like a regular dog & when I asked the cashier/server for the manager of the restaurant she acted as if she didn't understand that I was upset about that, when they clearly have A NO PET SIGN ON THE DOOR OF THE RESTAURANT! I WAS VERY UNPLEASED WITH THAT WHEN I HAVE TO PAY TO EAT & THEY ALLOW DOGS INTO THE RESTAURANT,ugh 🤔 Makes me second guess eating out in public
Super comfortable and casual Chinese American food with a fun mix of classic favorites and Southern food favorites in an all you can eat buffet setting. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Very fast about clearing empty plates and getting you drink refills at your table. Their chefs constantly come out with new fresh food from their kitchens to ensure there's plenty to choose from when you walk through the food area. Always been the BEST bang for buck in North Augusta when you are feeling Asian but don't want to worry about getting dressed up or having to wait long for good hot meals. My favorite are their egg drop soup and orange chicken! 😍
Don’t listen to the Karens. This place is pretty good and is reasonably priced at around $14 for each adult. I came in at 7pm on a Tuesday and they were still coming out with fresh hot food for us. Don’t know why reviewers are lying or just not paying attention to the employees walking in and out of the kitchen. Lo mein might be a little bit more al dente than people would prefer but I like it that way. Come give them a try. There’s a reason they’ve been around since I was born.
The people are really nice but the food is just so so bad. We didn’t taste one thing that we liked. It’s gonna take me a couple weeks to regain my appetite after that. I’m not even sure if it’s safe to eat here.
ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! I tried this amongst mixed reviews and I'm very sorry I wasted my 14.99. We went at 530 pm. But the food was hard, dry and tasted terrible. The floors were filthy . They did not refresh the buffet.very disappointed.
