About New China Buffet

New China Buffet is a Chinese restaurant located at 949 E Stuart Dr # A2 in Galax, Virginia (24333), USA. As a Chinese Buffet, its primary offering is an all-you-can-eat dining experience, allowing customers to sample a variety of Chinese dishes for a fixed price. This format is often appealing to those looking for value and the opportunity to try different flavors and textures within Chinese cuisine.

For inquiries or to confirm their operating hours, you can contact New China Buffet by phone at (276) 238-1333 or via their mobile number, +1 276-238-1333. While the provided information does not explicitly mention takeout or delivery services, it is common for buffet-style restaurants to focus primarily on their dine-in experience. Local users interested in these options may want to call ahead to inquire about any off-premise services that might be available.

Customer reviews for New China Buffet present a somewhat polarized view of the dining experience. One long-time patron expressed significant satisfaction, highlighting the appeal of the all-you-can-eat format and the affordability it offers. They praised the deliciousness of the food and the friendliness of the staff. This positive feedback suggests that for some, New China Buffet provides a satisfying and enjoyable dining option, particularly for those who appreciate the value of a buffet and enjoy Chinese cuisine.

However, another customer recounted a drastically different and negative experience. Having been pleased with a visit two years prior, their recent experience was overwhelmingly unfavorable. They stated that they "couldn't hardly stomach the food" and expressed uncertainty about what might have changed in the interim. This reviewer went so far as to vow never to return and advised others to avoid the establishment. Alarmingly, they also reported that they, their wife, and one of their children became ill after dining at New China Buffet, suggesting a potential food safety concern. This serious accusation led the reviewer to recommend that the "Health Department should definitely visit this place" and strongly urged others to "Please AVOID."

The stark contrast between these two reviews makes it challenging to form a definitive overall assessment of New China Buffet. The positive review emphasizes the value, taste, and service, while the negative review raises serious concerns about food quality and safety. Such divergent feedback could indicate inconsistencies in the restaurant's operations, ingredient quality, or food handling practices over time. It is also possible that individual experiences can vary significantly based on the specific dishes consumed or the timing of the visit.

As a Chinese buffet, New China Buffet likely offers a wide selection of dishes, typically including popular items such as fried rice, various noodle dishes, and an assortment of meat and vegetable preparations featuring chicken, beef, and pork. You might expect to find classic dishes like General Tso's Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, and perhaps some regional specialties or American-Chinese fusion dishes. Buffets often include a selection of appetizers, soups, and desserts as well, providing a comprehensive dining experience for a single price.

The positive reviewer's comment about the need for "more different foods" suggests that while they enjoy the existing offerings, there might be an opportunity for New China Buffet to expand its variety and introduce new dishes to keep the menu fresh and appealing to regular customers. This is a common consideration for buffet restaurants, as maintaining a balance between popular staples and new, interesting options can be key to long-term success.

Given the serious nature of the negative review, local users might approach New China Buffet with caution. Reports of foodborne illness are significant and should not be taken lightly. While past positive experiences might have occurred, recent feedback indicating a severe decline in food quality and potential safety issues warrants careful consideration. It would be prudent for potential customers to weigh these recent negative comments heavily when deciding whether to dine at this establishment.

In conclusion, New China Buffet in Galax, VA, offers an all-you-can-eat Chinese dining experience. While it has garnered positive feedback in the past regarding its value, taste, and service, recent reviews include a serious accusation of foodborne illness and a significant decline in food quality. This conflicting feedback suggests potential inconsistencies in the restaurant's operations. Local users considering dining at New China Buffet should be aware of these recent negative reports and may want to exercise caution or seek more up-to-date information before making a decision.

My good friend and I have been going here for the longest time and we love all there food! And we love Chinese! You cannot beat the price for all you can eat and get however many plates u want until your full and can't eat no more! There food is so delicious! And the staff is nice too! But I will say this I think they need more different foods other than just the same like add more different foods to the buffet.

I went here 2 years ago and I I was very pleased. We went today and we couldn't hardly stomach the food. I'm not sure what changed but I will never go back to this place and I will tell everyone to avoid it. Me, my wife and 1 of our children all got sick on our way home. The Health Department should definitely visit this place. Please AVOID.

Terrible. Do not bother. Bland, no taste. Recommended by family member who lives in vicinity. Paid $16.25 with water. Buffet was very sparse. Nothing had any taste. Coconut shrimp tasted like banana pudding. Ice cream was hard. Not much of a dessert bar. Cake was very dry. Chicken legs looked like they came off a pigeon, very small. This was a party of 5 from out of town. We all wished we had gone to McDonald’s.

Christmas day tradition, following the "A Christmas Story" movie, really good food for the price, lots of choices on the buffet bar, courteous staff and great service too.

This place is terrible plus I felt like I was tricked into eating there! Was never told credit card machine was down plus there were no signs posted CASH ONLY! You can't tell me the lady didn't know there was a problem. I barely had enough cash to pay the bill. You think a good business would have said I will give you a discount for inconvenience that was created. Plus the food looks like it has been sitting all day and tastes like it. Also went to get ice-cream and almost all the container were empty and the ones that had something was so little it was rock hard. I gave up. Drove 8 miles out of the way to go there. Also they had to know that the CC machine was down because the phone service has been down also the water.
