This restaurant has garnered significant praise from local patrons, with many considering it the best Chinese food in Vallejo and the surrounding area. New China Barn distinguishes itself by preparing its dishes to order, ensuring that each meal is fresh and made with high-quality ingredients. They emphasize the use of the freshest meats and vegetables, along with sauces that are reportedly prepared daily, contributing to the vibrant and authentic flavors of their cuisine.
While specific details about the restaurant's ambiance are not extensively described, the positive reviews suggest a welcoming and comfortable environment that encourages repeat business. The focus appears to be primarily on the quality and taste of the food, which has clearly resonated with the local community. Customers consistently highlight the freshness and the made-to-order nature of the dishes, implying a kitchen that prioritizes quality over mass production.
The primary service offered by New China Barn is the provision of freshly cooked Chinese cuisine for both dine-in and takeout. The reviews frequently mention quick service, indicating that despite the made-to-order approach, the kitchen is efficient in preparing meals. This makes it a convenient option for those looking for a delicious and freshly prepared meal without a long wait. You can contact the restaurant directly at (707) 642-1523 or +1 707-642-1523 for any inquiries regarding reservations or takeout orders. A standout feature of New China Barn is the consistently high quality and flavorful nature of their diverse menu. Customers rave about a variety of their entrees, including the honey walnut prawns, which are frequently mentioned as a favorite. The salt and pepper pork chops are also highly recommended, along with the classic sweet and sour pork. For beef lovers, the broccoli beef and Mongolian beef are popular choices. Their chicken dishes receive exceptional praise, with specific mentions of the lemon chicken, Kung Pao chicken, string bean chicken, and sesame chicken, all described as "absolutely delicious!!!" This wide range of well-received entrees suggests a kitchen with skilled chefs capable of executing various dishes with excellence.
In addition to their exceptional entrees, New China Barn also excels in staple Chinese dishes. The fried rice and chow mein are consistently ordered and appreciated by customers. The beef chow fun is highlighted as being particularly "amazing!!!" Their selection of soups is also noteworthy, with the war won ton soup being a clear favorite, described as "delicious!" For appetizers, the crab puffs, dumplings, and chicken wings with their homemade sweet and sour sauce are highly recommended. The sweet and sour sauce, in particular, is described as "out of this world!!!" The positive feedback across various categories of their menu – from appetizers to soups, noodles, rice, and main entrees – underscores the restaurant's commitment to quality and flavor.
However, it is important to present a balanced perspective based on all available reviews. One customer reported a lack of flavor in the pork fried rice. Additionally, this reviewer mentioned that the breading on the prawns and fish in an appetizer seemed excessive, potentially masking the small size of the seafood, although they noted that the taste was acceptable when dipped in sauce. This review provides a contrasting viewpoint, suggesting that while many customers have overwhelmingly positive experiences, there might be inconsistencies in certain dishes or aspects of food preparation, such as the flavor of the fried rice and the proportion of breading to seafood in some appetizers. The accompanying picture showing extra breading from only four prawns further supports this concern about breading quantity.
Currently, the provided reviews do not contain any specific information about ongoing promotional offers at New China Barn. However, the strong positive word-of-mouth and the establishment's reputation for quality and generous portions likely serve as a significant draw for local customers. To inquire about any potential special offers or new additions to their menu, it is recommended to contact New China Barn directly using the provided phone numbers or by visiting their location at 320 Tuolumne St in Vallejo.
In conclusion, New China Barn in Vallejo is a Chinese restaurant that has earned high praise for its fresh, made-to-order dishes, generous portions, and flavorful menu. Customers consistently recommend a variety of their entrees, including the honey walnut prawns, salt and pepper pork chops, and numerous chicken dishes, as well as their fried rice, chow mein, and appetizers like the crab puffs and chicken wings with homemade sweet and sour sauce. While one review noted a lack of flavor in the pork fried rice and excessive breading on some appetizers, the overwhelming majority of feedback is exceptionally positive, highlighting the quality and taste of the food. For local users seeking a reliable and delicious Chinese dining experience, New China Barn comes highly recommended.

Best Chinese Food in Vallejo and surrounding area!!!! Food is always made to order very quickly using only the freshest meat and vegetables and sauces prepared daily. The portions are generous, reasonably priced and flavors are on point no matter what you order. Some of my favorite entrees are honey walnut prawns, salt and pepper pork chops, sweet and sour pork, broccoli or Mongolian beef and ALL of the chicken dishes… lemon, Kung Pao, string bean, or sesame chicken! They are all the absolutely delicious!!! The fried rice and chow mein are always a staple when we order and the beef chow fun is amazing!!! They have a number of soups to choose from as well, my favorite being the war won ton! Delicious! My favorite appetizers are the crab puffs, dumplings and the chicken wings with their homemade sweet and sour sauce! It’s out of this world!!! If you haven’t eaten at the China Barn, you are missing out and must try it!!! You won’t be disappointed!!!
Pork fried rice has absolutely no flavor the breading on the prongs and fish for the appetizer cover up how small the actual fish is although it doesn’t taste too bad if you dip it in several sources, I just can’t get over the fact that fried rice has no flavor The pic shows all the extra breading from only 4 prawns can’t tell the rice flavor but the quality ya no thanx not again
The food was terrible. The egg fuyong was the worst I have ever ate. It was over 100.00 dollars and the food really sucked, and our fortune cookie did not have a fortune in it. We got something that we did not ordet
I purchased a delivery order from New China Barn 3/6 around 7pm. I had the food delivered and it looked terrible, at least in comparison to other Chinese we have had, but that is not what this is about. I ate it around 8 o'clock and went to bed. Just before midnight, I woke up and had to run to the toilet to vomit. Every hour after that, I had to vomit. I got barely any sleep and by 7am in the morning I was vomiting and had diarrhea consistently throughout the day. I was bed ridden and could not go to work. Now on day two and still lethargic (dehydrated) and queasy. This is obviously not what I expected from Chinese food and was obviously food poisoning. Great job New China Barn.
The food sucked.my fortune, cookie, and my fortune cookie didn’t have a fortune flavor We didn’t get the right order and it was dry
