About New Century
Welcome to New Century, a Chinese restaurant situated at 119 Central Street in Woodsville, New Hampshire. Operating within the platform category of "Chinese Restaurant," New Century aims to provide the local community with a variety of Chinese-style dishes. This introduction offers an objective overview of the restaurant based on the experiences shared by recent customers in their online reviews.
For placing takeout orders or for any inquiries, New Century can be contacted by phone at (603) 747-3886 or via their mobile number, +1 603-747-3886. These contact details are essential for local users interested in their offerings.
While specific details about the restaurant's interior environment are not extensively described in the provided reviews, one customer who placed a to-go order mentioned being "kindly offered a comfortable place to sit" while their order was being prepared. This suggests that New Century likely has a waiting area for takeout customers. The reviewer also noted that the staff was friendly, indicating a positive customer service approach within the establishment. However, there is no detailed description of the overall ambiance or décor of the restaurant itself.
In terms of services, New Century primarily appears to focus on takeout, as one of the reviews explicitly mentions placing a "togo order." The positive experience of this customer, from the friendly order-taking to the assurance of freshly prepared food and accurate packaging, highlights the efficiency and quality of their takeout service. While dine-in service is not explicitly mentioned, the presence of a comfortable waiting area might suggest that they also accommodate dine-in customers, although this cannot be definitively confirmed based solely on the provided information. Delivery services are also not mentioned in the reviews, so local users interested in this option should inquire directly with the restaurant.
The features of New Century, as a Chinese restaurant, are reflected in the variety and quality of their dishes. One customer ordered the General Gau Chicken with Pork Fried Rice and a Spring Roll for two, describing the meal as "freshly prepared" and "so delicious." The "great" taste of the food was a significant positive aspect of this customer's experience. General Gau Chicken is a popular dish known for its savory and slightly sweet flavor, and the positive feedback suggests that New Century prepares it well. The inclusion of a Spring Roll in the combo also indicates a standard offering of popular Chinese appetizers.
However, a contrasting review presents a significantly different perspective on the food quality. This customer, who stated that New Century had previously been their "go to for Chinese takeout," reported a recent experience where "EVERYTHING we ordered was tasteless, greasy and poorly presented." Specific criticisms included spring rolls that were "dripping with grease" and filled only with "mushy cabbage," orange chicken that lacked both vegetables and sauce, and was described as "flavorless and tough," and crab rangoons that were "overcooked" with minimal and flavorless filling. This starkly negative feedback raises concerns about the consistency of food quality at New Century.
The second reviewer also mentioned that "Prices had also gone up considerably," adding to their disappointment with the recent meal. This suggests a potential shift in value perception for this customer. The overall negative experience led this customer to conclude that they "will not be giving them another chance."
One unique feature mentioned in the first review was the inclusion of a fortune cookie with the to-go order. While the fortune itself had a typical message and lucky numbers, the other side of the paper contained a "political advertisement" that the reviewer found inappropriate for a fortune cookie. Although the reviewer did not dislike the message itself, they felt it was out of place, leading to a deduction of a star from their review. This is an unusual and potentially polarizing feature that customers might want to be aware of.
Regarding promotional information, neither of the provided reviews mentions any specific promotions or special offers at New Century. It is common for Chinese restaurants to have lunch specials, combination meals, or discounts on certain days or for specific order amounts. To learn about any potential promotions, local users are advised to inquire directly when calling to place an order or to check if they have a menu available online or in-store that might highlight any special deals.
In conclusion, New Century in Woodsville, NH, is a Chinese restaurant primarily serving takeout, with potential for dine-in. Customer reviews present a mixed picture of their food quality. One customer found their General Gau Chicken combo to be delicious and freshly prepared, while another, a former regular, experienced a significant decline in quality across multiple dishes, including greasy and tasteless spring rolls, flavorless and tough orange chicken, and overcooked crab rangoons with minimal filling. The first reviewer also noted an unusual inclusion of a political advertisement in their fortune cookie. Potential customers should consider these contrasting experiences. For the most current information on their menu, services, and any ongoing promotions, contacting New Century directly at (603) 747-3886 or +1 603-747-3886 is recommended.

Customer Reviews
The food was awesome, but I was left with a slightly bad taste in my mouth. I placed a togo order today at lunchtime. A very friendly lady took my order, which was General Gau Chicken with Pork Fried Rice and a Spring Roll for two. I was kindly offered a comfortable place to sit while my order was prepared. My order came in about ten minutes, and the friendly lady assured me everything was freshly prepared as she handed me the bag. When I got home I found my order was accurately packaged, and indeed, it was freshly prepared and so delicious. The meal was really delightful. After the meal, just for fun, I opened the fortune cookie that came with my order. The paper inside had a message and lucky numbers on one side, like you'd expect, but on the other side was a political advertisement that I really didn't expect. I didn't hate the message, but I didn't think it was appropriate, so I removed a star from my review. I'll still return to try something else on the menu.
This has always been our go to for Chinese takeout. EVERYTHING we ordered was tasteless, greasy and poorly presented. Spring rolls were dripping with grease and only had mushy cabbage inside. Orange chicken had no veggies at all and no sauce; flavorless and tough. Crab rangoons were overcooked, no crab flavor and hardly anything inside the wonton. Prices had also gone up considerably. Will not be giving them another chance.
Really rundown and subpar compare to what it used to be. The shrimp dumplings were made with old shrimp (inedible) and the waitress wouldn’t remove them from the bill even though we told her the shrimp was spoiled. She then proceeded to tell the table next to us that it was supposed to be that fishy. 🤢Even the pu pu platter wasn’t as fresh as it was before they closed. Bad service, bad food. Too bad because it used to be a favorite spot.
First time ordering take out. Food was excellent. Service was great. The restaurant is very nice and I plan on returning to dine in.
The food was quickly out and delicious. The staff was friendly and the dining area very clean. I will definitely return.
