About New Cathay restaurant and lounge

New Cathay Restaurant and Lounge, situated at 16184 SE 82nd Dr in Clackamas, Oregon, operates within the Chinese Restaurant category, also featuring a lounge area. This suggests that it aims to provide a multifaceted experience for local users, potentially offering a space for both dining and enjoying drinks in a relaxed setting. However, recent customer reviews present a mixed perspective on the food quality and overall experience, which should be carefully considered by potential patrons.

The name "restaurant and lounge" implies that New Cathay likely has distinct areas for dining and for a more casual lounge experience, possibly with a bar. However, the provided customer reviews do not offer any specific descriptions of the ambiance or decor of either the restaurant or the lounge area. Therefore, local users seeking information about the atmosphere will need to look elsewhere or visit the establishment to form their own impressions. The presence of a lounge suggests that it might be a place where people can socialize and enjoy beverages in addition to having a meal.

In terms of services, New Cathay Restaurant and Lounge offers takeout, as indicated by one reviewer's pickup order. It is highly probable that they also provide dine-in service in the restaurant section and beverage service in the lounge area. Customers can likely place orders or make inquiries by phone at (503) 656-3815 or +1 503-656-3815. The menu appears to include a variety of standard Chinese dishes, such as chicken chow mein (with pan-fried noodles), orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, shrimp dishes, and fried rice. The mention of a "combo meal" suggests that they may offer value-based options that include a main dish, rice, and possibly an appetizer. However, the quality and accuracy of these services and menu items have been called into question by recent reviews.

Customer feedback on New Cathay Restaurant and Lounge is mixed, with significant concerns raised about the food quality and order accuracy. One reviewer recounted a particularly negative experience with a takeout order. They ordered pan-fried noodles in the chicken chow mein with a side of crunchy noodles and orange chicken. Upon pickup, there was confusion regarding whether chicken was included in the noodle dish. Upon opening the containers, they discovered a box of plain, soft, unflavored pan-fried noodles without chicken and orange chicken made entirely with dark meat. The reviewer expressed a strong dislike for the dark meat and deemed the $25 meal "garbage" and "completely useless," stating they would not return.

Another reviewer found the food to be "ok" but lacking anything "unique." They did note that the staff was friendly and the meal was served quickly. However, they criticized the heavy batter on the shrimp and sweet and sour chicken, which they felt masked any flavor of the meat, leading them to remove the batter. The accompanying sauce was described as "not that flavorful" and unhelpful. Furthermore, the fried rice included with the combo meal was described as bland and containing nothing else besides rice. This reviewer concluded that while the combo meal was filling and reasonably priced, it was "not memorable at all," suggesting a lack of distinctiveness and flavor in their meal.

The features of New Cathay Restaurant and Lounge that can be identified from these reviews are the combination of a restaurant and a lounge, suggesting a dual purpose establishment. Their menu includes standard Chinese dishes like chow mein, orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and fried rice, and they offer takeout and likely dine-in services. However, a significant concern is the reported issues with food quality, including poorly prepared noodles, orange chicken made entirely with dark meat, heavily battered and blandly flavored shrimp and sweet and sour chicken, and tasteless fried rice. Order accuracy also seems to be a problem, as evidenced by the confusion and ultimate lack of chicken in one customer's noodle order.

Currently, there is no information available in the provided reviews regarding any promotional offers, discounts, or special deals at New Cathay Restaurant and Lounge. The focus of the feedback is on the quality and accuracy of the food and the overall dining experience. Local users interested in any potential promotions would need to contact the restaurant directly or check if they have any online presence where such information might be advertised.

In conclusion, New Cathay Restaurant and Lounge in Clackamas, OR, offers a combination of dining and lounge services. However, recent customer reviews raise significant concerns about the quality and preparation of their food, as well as potential issues with order accuracy. While one reviewer found the staff friendly and the service quick, the criticisms regarding blandness, excessive batter, unflavored noodles, and the use of only dark meat in the orange chicken are serious drawbacks. Local users considering New Cathay should carefully weigh these negative experiences against their own preferences and expectations. It might be prudent to seek more recent reviews from other sources or perhaps try a small, less complex order initially to assess the current food quality before committing to a full meal. To contact New Cathay Restaurant and Lounge, you can call (503) 656-3815 or +1 503-656-3815.

Ordered pan fried noodles in the chicken chow mein with crunchy noodle side and Orange Chicken. Got a call back to clarify the order which I did not understand entirely why because nothing was changed as far as I could tell. My girlfriend gets to the counter for pick-up and the counter attendant asked if I wanted chicken in the noodle. My girlfriend wasn't sure because I ordered. Upon opening the food containers I discover that there is a box pan-fried soft unflavored noodles with no chicken and a box of orange chicken made with dark meat for the orange chicken we ordered. Dark meat is all I could taste. We will not be calling back or going back. $25 of garbage food was completely useless.

The food we ordered was ok but there was nothing unique. The staff was friendly, and our meal came quickly. The batter on the shrimp and sweet and sour chicken masked any flavor and overpowered the meat. I ended up removing the batter coating. The sauce that came with was not that flavorful and didn’t do a anything to help, and the fried rice included with the combo meal had nothing else in it and was rather bland. There are probably other items on the menu that have better flavor, but the combo meal, while certainly filling and reasonably priced, was not memorable at all.

Pretty solid American Chinese. The lunch specials are a great deal -- pretty big portions that aren't padded by rice, as the entree items dominate the container. Minor quibble that the General Tso's sauce was lacking in spice, but it still had a good balance of sweet and savory flavor.

Wonderful food except the only problem is the pepper flavor I tasted was so strong I had to keep drinking something to tone it down. That was the only downside otherwise food was wonderful. Friendly lady who took our order.

The pan fried noodles weren't even eatable, and the orange chicken didn't even taste like Orange chicken! Worst Chinese food ever.
