About Neuse River Chinese Restaurant

Neuse River Chinese Restaurant is located at 2457 US-117 in Goldsboro, North Carolina (NC 27530, USA). As a Chinese restaurant in the Goldsboro area, it aims to provide local users with a variety of Chinese dishes. However, based on the limited customer reviews available, the experiences seem to be quite varied, with significant concerns raised regarding food quality and other aspects of the dining experience.

One customer's review highlighted a stark contrast in the quality of different dishes. They found the Egg Roll to be "excellent," which is a positive note. However, their experience with the House Lo Mein was considerably less favorable. They described it as "dry" and tasting like "salty chicken broth." Furthermore, this customer reported receiving a lunch tray when they had ordered a quart-sized portion, indicating a potential issue with order accuracy or portion control. Upon calling the restaurant to inquire about the dryness of the lo mein, they were told that "Chinese food has to be eaten immediately, and because it was two hours later is why it was dry," a justification that the customer found unconvincing, especially since there was no sauce at the bottom of the container and the noodles were described as "Aldente." This suggests a fundamental issue with the preparation or saucing of the lo mein.

Adding to their dissatisfaction, the same customer drew a comparison with a similar dish from another local establishment, stating that it remained great for up to three days, directly contradicting the explanation provided by Neuse River Chinese Restaurant. This led the customer to question whether the lo mein served was not traditional or if they simply had a negative experience.

Another review echoed the positive sentiment about the egg rolls, stating simply, "The egg rolls were good. That's it." This suggests that while one appetizer might be a strong point, the rest of the experience may not meet expectations.

This second reviewer also raised significant concerns about the dining environment. They mentioned that a "horror movie was on the TV in the dining area," which is an unusual and potentially off-putting choice of entertainment for a restaurant setting, especially during a meal. Regarding the food itself, this customer found the cashew chicken to be "tasteless," as were the lo mein and fried rice. The only slightly positive comment was about the pork in the lo mein, which was described as "okay." However, the overall experience was so negative that the reviewer stated that they and their dining companion "literally walked out after each taking 1 bite of each dish." This extreme reaction indicates a severe dissatisfaction with the quality and taste of multiple main courses.

The consistency in the negative feedback regarding the lo mein from both reviewers is particularly concerning. One described it as dry and salty, while the other found it tasteless. This suggests a potential issue with the preparation of this popular dish. Similarly, the cashew chicken and fried rice being described as tasteless in one review points to a lack of flavor in other menu items as well.

The discrepancy in the portion size received by one customer (lunch tray instead of a quart) also raises questions about the restaurant's attention to order accuracy and portion consistency. This can be a significant issue for customers who expect to receive what they ordered and in the correct quantity.

The unusual choice of entertainment in the dining area, as mentioned by one reviewer, could significantly impact the ambiance and overall dining experience for customers who choose to eat at the restaurant. A horror movie playing on a TV might create an uncomfortable or inappropriate atmosphere for many diners.

Based on these limited reviews, there is no information available regarding any specific services offered by Neuse River Chinese Restaurant beyond dine-in (implied by the mention of a dining area and TV) and potentially takeout (as one customer ordered lo mein). There is no mention of delivery services or any other unique offerings.

Similarly, there is no information provided about any promotional offers, discounts, or specialty dishes at Neuse River Chinese Restaurant. The reviews focus solely on the quality of a few specific items and the dining environment.

In conclusion, the customer feedback for Neuse River Chinese Restaurant in Goldsboro, NC, presents a largely negative picture. While the egg rolls received positive comments, significant concerns were raised about the quality and taste of the house lo mein, cashew chicken, and fried rice. Issues with portion size and order accuracy were also reported. Additionally, the unusual choice of a horror movie playing in the dining area suggests a potentially problematic environment for dine-in customers. Local users considering this Chinese restaurant should be aware of these reported issues and may want to proceed with caution based on the limited and largely unfavorable reviews available.

Egg Roll was excellent, the House lo mein was dry and tasted like salty chicken broth. I ordered a quart but received a lunch tray. I called and was told “Chinese food has to be eaten immediately, and because it was two hours later is why it was dry” (There was no sauce in the container bottom, and the noodles were Aldente). I had the same from the place by Food Lion last week, and it lasted 3 days and was great each day. This is apparently not traditional lo mein, or I had a bad experience?? A friend of mine had told me about this place.

The egg rolls were good. That's it. There was a horror movie on the TV in the dining area. The cashew chicken was tasteless, as was the lo mein and fried rice. The pork in the lo mein was okay though. We, literally, walked out after each taking 1 bite of each dish.

Great food! Better than any in Goldsboro. Worth the drive. EDIT: Google fixed location within maps. EDIT: Apparently Google Maps thinks this is on US-117 ALT and shows the wrong location. If you type "2455 US-117, 27530" it will take you to the shopping center it is in. So I blame Google Maps for the previous comment and 4 star review.
