Nelson's "Barnyard" Buffet

Overall it was decent. The best parts were the catfish nuggets, fried fish, fried chicken and macaroni and cheese. Other items were simply ok but overall it’s a good value lots to choose from. Our waitress was beyond amazing. Drinks come with buffet price and they have veteran discount.

This is a buffet that has been around for a lot of years. The entire staff was amazing. Great service from the time I walked in the door and was greeted from Flossie. Thanks for the awesome service. The restaurant just finished from being busy from people getting out of church. So we got here right after their busy day. The restaurant was cleaned up pretty quick. Good southern food. I tried most of the food, and it was pretty good. The restaurant was pretty clean. Thanks to the staff keeping it picked up and clean. I have seen this place for a long time, and it always seemed to be busy after church on Sundays, so I wanted to give it a try, I do like a good buffet. My wife always resisted, saying she didn't want to eat at a place called the barnyard. I was out by myself and decided this was the time to give it a try. $20.28 for lunch on a Sunday, that was my first shock. The food is going to be great, unfortunately not. The peel and eat shrimp was chalky and falling apart when taking the shell off, and tasted of all spice rather than a shrimp boil. The greens were bitter and could have cooked at least 30 minutes longer. The lemon meringue pie had a mealy texture, and the pecan pie was just not good. The meat loaf appeared as if it had been sitting for hours, and looked dry. Lot's of foods I don't eat, like turkey necks, livers, and gizzards. The mashed potatoes and gravy were good, fried fish was ok. The wait staff was pleasant enough. I'm glad the family didn't want to join me, I would have wasted way more money. I'd have been better off eating at Hardee's next door. Needless to say, but I won't be coming back.

The salad bar was amazing. The food was good. Not as good as it could be, but good non the less. and for the price, you can't beat it. This place wouldn't warrent a special trip for me, but if I am hungry and in the area, I would definitely stop by. As far as atmosphere, the place looked clean, it's just an older style. The service was great all around.

First time here so I tried a lot of different things. I did not eat one thing that wasn’t full of flavor and delish. Pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is a little lacking and you wouldn’t expect it to taste so good. Maybe some new ceiling tiles and some paint and updated chairs would help it a lot. Older looking but clean. Waitress was very good. She was right on top of things and working hard without being in your face. Lots of things to eat for everyone. Even my lucky eater nine year old would find a lot there to eat. Recommend it highly.
