When choosing a Chinese restaurant, the experiences of other diners can be incredibly informative. Online reviews often provide valuable insights into the quality of the food, the attentiveness of the service, the ambiance of the dining environment, and any unique offerings that make a restaurant stand out. By considering a collection of feedback, potential customers can develop a well-rounded understanding of what to expect.
Based on the customer reviews available for Nani Restaurant, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, highlighting several key aspects. One reviewer expresses immense satisfaction with their experience, specifically mentioning Jackie, who provided gracious and prompt service and offered clear guidance on the menu options. This customer was particularly thrilled to find authentic dim sum in Madison, reminiscent of their experiences in California. They lauded the dishes they ordered as "EXCELLENT" and found the Mango Dragonfruit drink to be a refreshing and not overly sweet delight. This review underscores the exceptional service and the rare offering of authentic dim sum, making Nani Restaurant a potentially unique find in the area.
Another reviewer also had a highly positive experience, emphasizing the great food, excellent service, and large portion sizes. They specifically appreciated the restaurant's willingness to accommodate their request to keep meat separate from their orders and to start with clean utensils, indicating a strong attention to detail and customer needs. This reviewer concluded by recommending Nani Restaurant as a "good stop to taste great Chinese food" if in Madison. They also provided a detailed list of the dishes their party of five enjoyed, including lo mein shrimp, shrimp fried rice, shrimp dumplings, boiled fish fillet, and mapo tofu, along with Thai tea, noting that they had plenty of leftovers, suggesting generous portion sizes and a satisfying meal.

As a Chinese restaurant with a focus on dim sum, Nani Restaurant likely offers a diverse menu that goes beyond standard Chinese-American fare. Dim sum is a style of Cantonese cuisine prepared as small bite-sized portions of food, traditionally served in small steamer baskets or on small plates. This could include a variety of dumplings (such as shrimp dumplings and pork dumplings, as mentioned in the reviews), buns, rolls, and other savory and sweet items. The mention of lo mein shrimp, shrimp fried rice, boiled fish fillet, and mapo tofu indicates a broader menu that includes popular Chinese entrees and seafood dishes. The availability of Thai tea suggests a fusion of culinary influences or a wider beverage selection.
The positive comments about the food being "great" and "EXCELLENT," along with the specific mentions of flavorful dishes and fresh-tasting dim sum, suggest a high standard of culinary quality at Nani Restaurant. The accommodating service, including the willingness to handle dietary requests and the attentiveness of staff like Jackie, points to a customer-centric approach.

Customer Reviews
Jackie was gracious, prompt, and gave clear instructions regarding the menu options. I hadn't had a true dim sum since my trip to California many ears ago. The dishes we ordered were EXCELLENT. The Mango Dragonfruit drink was fun and refreshing - not too sweet. A great surprise to find this in Madison!
The food was great and so was the service and large portions. Also accommodated our request not to mix any meat with our orders and start with clean utensils. If in Madison a good stop to taste great Chinese food ! We tried their lo mein shrimp, shrimp fried rice, shrimp dumplings, boiled fish fillet, mapa tofu, Thai tea for 5 and had plenty to take home as well. PS: earlier I was mistaken on the billing but they clarified and sent me the original bill as well. So issue was immediately addressed. Thanks.
This review is for the Dim Sum. By far the worst Dim Sum I’ve ever had in my life. Chinese donuts steam crepe was stale and hard, chicken feet was terrible, congee was bland. Bean curd was very oily on the inside. Heed my warning, don’t come here for Dim Sum.
While food is okay, they don’t do a good job telling you which dishes have foods to which a lot of people are sensitive to. I ordered the pepper squid and while on the menu, it didn’t specify anything about including onions. There was a lot of it, I tried my best to pick it out but since it was mixed very well into the veggie mix, I missed a lot and got very sick afterwards. It would be great if Nani did a better job listing all the veggies used. Otherwise they are just alienating people with dietary restrictions.
Best Barbecue Duck in Madison! I personally love bbq duck. Nani has the best barbecue duck in Madison that I’ve tasted. So much so that I now go to Nani with my girlfriend every 2 weeks, and have done so for over a year. The atmosphere is nice, with pleasant piano music in the background. The space is vast and I’ve never needed a reservation any day of the week. We always get the same waiter and he’s incredibly good. He recognizes us every time and knows our drink orders by heart. I personally like to have the oolong tea and the bbq duck. My girlfriend likes their lo mien and pot stickers. If you like fun cocktails I highly recommend their Blue Hawaiian. Bbq duck is definitely best served hot, so always best to get a table and eat in. Prices are also very reasonable for the quality you get. If you like good bbq duck definitely check out Nani!
