Recent customer reviews for Nai Brother 86 奈哥酸菜鱼86街 indicate significant issues with some of their signature dishes. One customer who ordered the hot and sour fish soup described it as "horrible," with an excessive amount of salt and vinegar, making it inedible. They also noted that the seaweed was not properly cleaned and had an unpleasant taste.

Another customer who also tried the hot and sour fish soup had a similar negative experience, finding it too salty and vinegary to eat beyond a few spoonfuls. They ended up only eating the fish and discarding the rest. They also echoed the concern about the seaweed not being properly cleaned.

A third customer who tried the sauerkraut fish and seafood soup described the ambiance as quiet and plain with limited decor. They experienced a language barrier with the staff. The seafood soup was found to contain very little fish, which appeared to be basa or carp, and consisted mostly of a leafy vegetable in a broth that lacked flavor and did not resemble the picture on the restaurant's website. While they ordered extra seaweed which was the highlight of the soup, it lacked the described balance of spicy and sour. This customer did, however, find the popcorn chicken to be particularly good but overall deemed the meal bland and unmemorable, considering it one of the worst they had on 86th Street that year.

Based on these reviews, potential customers should be aware of reported issues with the flavor and quality of the hot and sour fish soup and the seafood soup, as well as potential communication difficulties.

I decided to come here after work to get dinner. It was a cold, rainy day so I thought a nice, hot, golden hot and sour fish soup would be perfect. Want my honest opinion? It was so horrible, I had to share my experience in hopes they’ll improve the recipe and no one tried what I had. I love hot and sour fish soup, but after a few spoonfuls of the soup I couldn’t do it. I ended up picking at the fish and the rest is left to waste. The seaweed was also not cleaned properly and has a funny taste to it. The soup tastes like the chef dumped spoonfuls of salt and vinegar like there was no tomorrow. Like really, it was so bad. I’m disappointed that out of all restaurants I could have chose in the area, I decided on this one - I’m sorry restaurant owner, but I just don’t know how you guys can make one of your signature dishes this unpalatable.

Not that good - Sauerkraut fish? I thought I would try it! I went in and sat down, the place was noticeably quiet no background music, very plain, very few pictures on the wall. I asked the server what do you recommend, I have never been here before, what is one of your most popular dishes? Nobody in this place could speak english, so I went to yelp and picked what dishes seemed to be popular. I went with seafood soup and popcorn chicken. The seafood soup came with extraordinarily little fish in it. The fish looked like either basa or carp, but it was mostly a leafy vegetable in a not so tasty broth. It did not look like the dish on thier site either, . I ordered extra seaweed in the soup; it was the highlight of this soup. I didn't get that balance of spicy and sour their site descibed it as. Thank goodness I ordered the popcorn chicken, which was particularly good! The ambiance, lack of communication and food was just not there for me. It was a very bland, tasteless, not so memorable meal. I love Asian food, and I do not mean the fast-food chow mein places, the real places, but this one wasn't it. This must be the worst meals I have eaten on 86th Street this year.

Great dry pots here. My favorite was the fried fish dry pot. The tomato broth was great too. It's very spicy if you get higher levels. I opted for the less spicy and it was tolerable. I'd say skip the appetizers, they were okay.

10/10 would recommend. The service and experience were amazing and the food is ethereal. They give generous portions, and not only does the food look appetizing but it’s also rich in flavor. Each dish is unique and filled with surprises— I particularly recommend their House Signature Chainese Sauerkraut Flavor [Sliced Fish]. Can’t wait to see their business grow!!

100% recommend. Food was good and staff were nice!! I had House Signature Chinese Sauerkraut Flavor [Sliced Fish] I am not a spicy person, but their spicy level was good enough for me. I would definitely come here again.
