About Mustard Greens

Mustard Greens is a restaurant located at 622 S 2nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19147, USA. It is categorized under Chinese Restaurants. They can be contacted at (215) 627-0833 or +1 215-627-0833.

Customer reviews present contrasting opinions. One long-term customer states, "You can never go wrong with anything from their menu. Impeccable service and delicious food. I always dine there when in town. I highly recommend you check out this hidden gem." They also noted that "Street parking is meter fed."

However, another reviewer had a more critical experience, stating, "I really wanted to like this restaurant a lot since I felt the service was very good and friendly." Despite the positive service, they found "the food was just ok bordering on the brink of disappointment." They ordered "a stir fried tofu and sesame chicken with lemon sauce." For both dishes, they felt "The portions...were on the small end vs price." The tofu "had a slight sour aftertaste," and while the chicken was "ok," the "lemon sauce was just plain gross," describing it as tasting "artificial and sweet" and recommending, "They really shouldn't serve this sauce anymore."

This second reviewer did appreciate that "They provide hot hand towels at the end of the meal which was nice." However, they also noted a negative aspect: "they do add a surcharge for using a credit card which I didn't see disclosed beforehand so that was a surprise when I received the final bill."

Based on these reviews, Mustard Greens in Philadelphia, PA, offers friendly and potentially very good service. However, the quality of the food appears to be inconsistent, with one long-time fan praising the entire menu while another found specific dishes (stir-fried tofu and sesame chicken with lemon sauce) disappointing, citing small portions for the price and unpleasant flavors. A notable positive is the provision of hot hand towels at the end of the meal, but a significant drawback is an undisclosed surcharge for credit card use. Parking is metered street parking. Local users considering Mustard Greens should be aware of these mixed reviews regarding food quality and the credit card surcharge.

The environment is not explicitly described beyond the availability of metered street parking. Services include dine-in with potentially very good and friendly service and the provision of hot hand towels at the end of the meal. Key features, according to one review, are the delicious food across the menu, while another found the stir-fried tofu and sesame chicken with lemon sauce disappointing. A surcharge for credit card use is a notable point. No specific promotional information is available in the provided text.

I really wanted to like this restaurant a lot since I felt the service was very good and friendly. However, the food was just ok bordering on the brink of disappointment. We ordered a stir fried tofu and sesame chicken with lemon sauce. The portions for both were on the small end vs price. The tofu had a slight sour aftertaste. The chicken was ok but the lemon sauce was just plain gross. I can't even describe it. It tasted artificial and sweet. They really shouldn't serve this sauce anymore. They provide hot hand towels at the end of the meal which was nice. However, they do add a surcharge for using a credit card which I didn't see disclosed beforehand so that was a surprise when I received the final bill.

Friendly staff, nice ambiance, and relatively fast service. However, the portions were pretty small (compared to the price) and the food was quite average. They also served us one small plate of rice for 2 people (whereas we ordered two main dishes), and that was definitely not enough. Overall, it felt overpriced. We also didn’t understand why it’s described as “modern/contemporary” Chinese cuisine — I personally didn’t notice anything “modern” in the food we ordered.

Top quality ingredients. The Chinese you want when you want to feel healthier leaving. Steamed dumplings that melt with the red vinegar and soy and such fresh, crisp veggies. A must every time we visit Philly.

Ordered through door dash and when the order arrived one of the entrees was not there. I called them to see if I could get the missed item (I would have actually picked it up) and the man who answered could not have been more dismissive and he actually hung up on me- he was terribly unprofessional.
