As a Chinese restaurant deeply appreciated by locals and visitors alike, Mrs. Fish can be contacted at (212) 267-8885 or via mobile at +1 212-267-8885 for inquiries. Based on recent customer reviews, Mrs. Fish stands out for its consistently high-quality food, welcoming family-friendly atmosphere, unique family-style service, and exceptional Jasmine tea.

One enthusiastic and seasoned patron of Chinatown restaurants declared Mrs. Fish their "favorite restaurant in Chinatown," emphasizing their extensive experience with the local culinary scene. This reviewer specifically highlighted the "consistently high quality" of the fish broth, especially noting its "counter-inflation price," suggesting both its excellence and affordability. They expressed a sentiment that Mrs. Fish and its remarkable fish broth are somewhat of a hidden gem, perhaps not yet widely discovered by tourists in the same way as soup dumplings. This customer expressed hope that the word would spread about this exceptional dish and restaurant.

Another reviewer shared that Mrs. Fish is consistently one of their "favorite places to eat when visiting NYC," indicating a reliable and positive experience over multiple visits. They lauded the ambiance as "very family friendly," making it an appealing choice for diners with children or those seeking a comfortable and inclusive setting. The food at Mrs. Fish was described as "amazing," a strong endorsement of the overall culinary offerings. A key feature highlighted in this review is the "family style" service, which necessitates having a "big appetite or family members with you," suggesting that dishes are served in generous portions intended for sharing. This communal dining style can enhance the social aspect of the meal.

This reviewer also provided practical advice for finding Mrs. Fish, noting its location "on a side street in Chinatown" and cautioning that it can be "easily miss." However, they strongly recommended seeking it out, stating, "trust me, you'll want to go in and grab a seat." This adds to the impression of Mrs. Fish being a worthwhile discovery, a bit off the beaten path but rewarding for those who find it. A unique and highly praised aspect mentioned was the Jasmine tea, which this reviewer claimed "tastes better than any other jasmine tea I've had before," suggesting a particular attention to the quality and preparation of this beverage.

Furthermore, the reviewer noted that "all of the good tastes like it is cooked to order," implying a commitment to freshness and quality in their food preparation. Finally, they commented on the pricing, stating that it is "reasonably priced for the servings you get," reinforcing the value aspect, especially considering the family-style portions. This aligns with the other reviewer's mention of "counter-inflation price" for the fish broth, suggesting an overall fair pricing strategy.

Based on these reviews, Mrs. Fish offers a unique combination of high-quality, authentic Chinese cuisine, a welcoming environment, and a distinctive dining style. The consistently praised fish broth appears to be a signature dish that is both delicious and reasonably priced. The family-friendly ambiance makes it a comfortable choice for a wide range of diners, and the family-style service encourages sharing and togetherness. The exceptional Jasmine tea adds another layer to the positive dining experience. The fact that it's located on a side street might contribute to its "hidden gem" status, making it a rewarding find for those seeking an authentic Chinatown experience away from the main tourist thoroughfares.

While the reviews don't provide a comprehensive list of all menu items, the strong emphasis on the fish broth suggests it is a central feature. The mention of family-style service implies that many dishes are likely offered in larger portions suitable for sharing among a group. As a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, it is probable that Mrs. Fish offers a variety of other classic Cantonese or regional Chinese dishes, catering to different tastes. The focus on freshly cooked food indicates a commitment to quality ingredients and preparation.

Information regarding specific promotions or any unique environmental features beyond the family-friendly ambiance is not detailed in these reviews. However, the consistent praise for the food quality, particularly the fish broth, the welcoming atmosphere, and the exceptional Jasmine tea, serve as strong inherent features that attract and retain customers. The "hidden gem" aspect, due to its side street location, might also appeal to those seeking a more authentic and less tourist-centric dining experience in Chinatown.

For local users and visitors to New York City looking for a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown that offers consistently high-quality food, a warm and family-friendly environment, and a unique family-style dining experience, Mrs. Fish appears to be an excellent choice. The exceptional fish broth and Jasmine tea are particularly noteworthy and highly recommended. While it might require a little navigation to find its side street location, the positive reviews strongly suggest that the effort is well worth it for a memorable and satisfying meal.

In conclusion, Mrs. Fish at 34 Pell St in New York City's Chinatown is a beloved Chinese restaurant celebrated for its consistently high-quality fish broth, family-friendly ambiance, family-style service, and exceptional Jasmine tea. My favorite restaurant in Chinatown and I have been to a lot!! The fish broth is consistently high quality at a counter-inflation price. It's a shame that not many tourists have found out about this place and this dish. But they will, like how they have found out about soup dumplings. Let the message cross.

Our family had our dinner in Mrs fish on Saturday in February 2024. Despite the restaurant name that resemble a Sichuan restaurant, this restaurant could serve authentic Cantonese cuisine. We met the chef that evening who has culinary experience in several famous restaurants in Guangdong China before migrating to New York. We asked the chef to do Omaske for us using fresh seafood. Our family was happily surprised by the elegant plated and delicious dishes in this 'chef special'. The chicken with ginger and scallion, deep fried orange peel spare ribs, baked fresh eel in garlic , tofu with stuffed pork and pepper with stuffed shrimp, fresh giant oyster in XO sauce ......what a fantastic feast that we found in Chinatown! The waiters were friendlyy and attentive while the place was clean and tastefully decorated with Chinese calligraphy frames. We highly recommended visitors to try this restaurant, a hidden gem in New York Chinatown !

We had a good experience at this place. The food was amazing but the service was slow and not great. The staff were nice and friendly but got confused with our order and the other one’s order. Make sure to try “Dumpling in Chili Oil” and “Soup Dumplings”. Both tasted super delicious and fresh! The chili oil was not that much spicy. I would come back for this dish! They have both inside and outside settings, but the outside is close to the corner of the street and not a good place to sit and eat. Highly recommended!

The food was aighttt — it got the job done. It wasn’t great… it could use a a bit more flavor. Specifically the lomein, which is typically an easily flavorful dish. The green beans also lacked some flavor, or salt, rather. I did however think the pineapple fried rice was good, I enjoyed the presentation of it in the pineapple and all. The service was attentive, until it was time to pay. But that could just be my impatience :) The street has complete outdoor seating and the area felt what I believe to be authentic. I think I would come back to try the Beef Udon noodle and show friends and family this cute little private street. Perhaps we just didn’t get the right things. Also the lobster dishes looked good, but I didn’t feel like discovering what the market price was going to be. And speaking of price, I think the food was a wee but overpriced for what it was. Ok, that’s all
